Anyone havin luck on the potomac lately ?
Well, i guess that is an honest concern. Just so you know, I am very sarcastic and never serious when any particular insult is given. I think the thread has been seen as a fun debate and in case anyone is wondering, yes i hate 3" senkos, no i do not hate Littlehuntingcreek, and i thought he knew as well as i did that the discussion was for fun. He's most likely a a great guy and a great fisherman. (I still think he's bank robber though) In addition, you being more of a veteran on the other hand to the site, might be seen as more unwelcoming by newer guys on the forum like myself who don't have consistent access to a bass boat, let alone are learning the area and would love to learn new lakes, ponds, and have fun with a new fishin buddy. If i may recall, everyone else i have talked to has either sent a pm or some type of invite to go fishing except you. The new guy has to learn and i'd rather it be from guys like the ones here on the site that know what they are doing. However, you on the other hand told a guy with no boat and new to the area with no one to disclose such vital information to that you don't currently trust him with the good lakes, ponds etc. Now, your entitled to that, and quite frankly its not worth the begging from me. I understand great spots should be guarded with ones life in fishing, but maybe you might be misunderstood by newer guys like me who want to go out and meet some fishin buddies and learn the area. If i recall, when i first posted lookin for some fishin buddies to help me learn the area, you were the one who said, "so basically your just lookin for a ride". It goes both ways

Anyone havin luck on the potomac lately ?
Thai, that is a beautiful bass. Yeh, i think the potomac record is a 10.1? So, getting that close is amazing. Definite props to you. And you are right. This is a new place and i have many challenges ahead of learning the spots. I hate making guarentees but since the state record here is over 16 pounds, and the bass seem to grow a wee bit bigger, I have a better chance of hookin a giant and up for the challenge. But, yeh that is a beauty.

Puffin the chest, come on man. This is all part of the fun. People just love to put their ten cents in. I do it as well. That's what this site is all about. And just so you know, i am always man enough to admit when i lose a battle. I have lost many times to my old man. Shoot, my wife has beaten me before (she actually is really good). But lets avoid the halo's if we can. Anyone on this thread has the potential to beat me in any particular tournament. Challenges are fun, enjoy em, and lose the serious face!

MY FIRST FLORIDA FISHING EXPERIENCE!!
6.8? Thats a great MN bass. I spend a lot of time fishing up there as well. Where did you catch that lunker?

Anyone havin luck on the potomac lately ?
Ha, well said Little, well said. Yeh, and quinjin, i love the enthusiasm of your challenge, but thats not gonna put 6 pounders in the boat. Its fun listening to fishing challenges because some people love to bite off more than they can chew on this site. I think some doubles tournaments of pride will be well under way in the near future. Thats what i love about this website, everyone thinks they're the best. And i hope everyone is keepin mental notes on the challenges. Once the fishing starts up again, i'm hoping we keep a running thread on the big bass (with official measurements and pictures! None of this "i caught a few 5's and 6's today"must be documented!) caught-along with what lure was used. This should prove to be interesting. In the mean time, here are a few of my 3" senko bass videos if you feel so inclined to watch them. This is what you'll be challenging, the game face is on! http://www.youtube.com/user/theShimmySheide#p/u

Anyone havin luck on the potomac lately ?
I think Qui-Gon JinJig is taking this thread too seriously. However, the whole apples and oranges thing. This is all i'm trying to say and i don't want it to sound insulting. Some fathers play catch with their sons. Other fathers put 3" senkos on their boy's fishing line, and afterwards take them to dance class to become a ballerina. All i'm saying is lilhuntinggeek is a dancer. That's all. What? What did i say?

Youtube Accounts
Paul, now those are some lunkers! I got my money on Pauls videos for now. He at least consistently catches big bass in Tennessee . I mus say, either you are releasing some of the same lunkers into the same pond, or you have your own little secret pond...either way i am jealous. Nice bass. I think Paul is the current Heavyweight Champ. However, i'm not so sure about the whole "kiss" special appearances in the videos...

Anyone havin luck on the potomac lately ?
Elephants eat peanuts, Snakes eat rabbits, ants eat grasshoppers, kids eat their vegetables, etc etc etc Bottom line is this, big bass love big bait. Always have, always will. And to reiterate, i'd rather fish all day long for a big bass and not catch any (which i hate to admit i did the other day) then to catch a bunch of dinkers. If i wanted those, i'd go to the local pet shop, grab the little green net, and scoop a dozen minnows.

Anyone havin luck on the potomac lately ?
I have noticed not many agree about the 3 inch sinko. Thats ok, my focus is to catch bigger bass and i understand every other leap year someone tags a big bass with a fly or something small. In addition, this is not to say 'littlehuntingcreek" hasn't caught a big bass before, just sayin your PB is probably not from the 3" girl bait. What, what did i say? I think the 12 fish you caught the other day probably looked like MR. Smileys pet goldfish.

using a 3 in sinko? I would rather not catch a fish all day than tie on a 3 inch sinko. Thats just flat out giving up.

Fishing a Big Grass Flat
oo, looks like there are a few creek channels in there. I would find a nice little drop off on the creek channel and hammer it out. Thats what the Kevin V.D. would do! Fresher water=fresher grass=bigger bass

Suggestions needed on finding the BIG girls
Sounds like your friends are suffering from what bothers me the MOST from any fisherman: "poor eyesight, forgetting to take a picture of the fish that was within a pound of the state record, and no scale". I get soooooooooo tired of hearing fisherman round up there numbers by a pound and a half on fish. At first it got me excited but now it just makes me angry because they are pathological liars. Now, it is pardonable to lie about what you used, excusable if you reference a different lake, but when you exaggerate about the size of a fish, come on man, come on. Good fisherman work long strategical hours to pull a bass that officially weighs in over 6 pounds (not the ones held too close to the camera). To throw out a number like 7-9 pounds (especially in SOUTH DAKOTA!!!!), they should have their fishing license revoked. Your friends did not catch fish that big. They even used plural...they should be slapped. It's an insult to any good fisherman to throw out such high numbers. Shame on them.

Anyone havin luck on the potomac lately ?
hmm...i notice that no one ever talks about fishing the bridges. That always fascinates me. I have had some of the best luck in my life at those good ol happy spots of mine on the Potomac. Yet, that was back in the day when my fam lived here and had a boat. Knock em dead boys. Shimmy

setup... no comment : (however, no fish died in the video-all were released alive and well)

Re: if this video doesn't give you the itch to fish, quit fishing
yeh, it was initially a challenge to block out some baits and then turned into an obsession. Since most anglers on this website are great fisherman, it makes no difference whether they see the baits or not. They can probably figure it out

Re: if this video doesn't give you the itch to fish, quit fishing
This is a video from fishing in Minnesota. Now, keep in mind this is not from California so if your looking for 15 pound bass, they don't grow that big here. This is just a video of how amazing the fishing is in the state of MN. I live in VA and just moved from Utah and i can attest (still biased-don't care) that nothing compares. and i take my hat off to the big guys in charge of bassresource. There is not a better bass fishing forum

How do you hold your fish?
start with the thumb. By the end of the fishing week, switch hands. After that, use all four fingers and keep thumb out. By the very end of the week, tape your hand up, start all over again
