  2. We don't have lily-pads on any of the popular fishing lakes here in AZ. But this thread has got me thinking back to the days we spent at my stepmother's familie's cottage in Wisconsin. It's on a little lake that has abundant lily-pads. A friend of ours that goes up there a lot showed us how to fish with a grass frog on top of the lily-pads. Man, that was some of the funnest bass fishing I'd ever experienced. Even if you miss the fish it's still exciting to see them come up out of the lillies and nail that little frog. I've caught several nice fish on that lake using the frog, and I've lost about double that.
  3. Due to regional differences, I don't know if this will work as well out there as it does here. When I fish the Northern Arizona lakes and rivers and I want to catch smallmouth, I go out and buy about 8 white rooster tails as big as I can get them. In one particular lake that has a long deep cove with abundant stick-ups, I found that finding casting parallel to the shorline where the water goes from shallow to extremely deep draws the smallies up to strike.
  4. A while back I bought some polarized glasses at Costco Wholesale that I really like. They're fairly inexpensive, and the frames are very light and have a cheap feeling to them, but the lenses are the best for the money that I've found. They're made by UVEX, and the exact model name I can't remember. They come with 3 different colors of lenses, all of which I've found useful in different situations. They were about $25 when I bought them.
