Fishing Shows Return Finally!
Is it about dang time! I have nothing against hunting for I do hunt some, but It would be nice if one day these channels finally gave fishing an equal amount of air time. I mean the last I heard fishing in America was only second in popularity to chasing a little white ball down some fairway, yet every time I turn on Outdoor or Sportsman its always hunting. In any event looking forward to finally watching some fishing again.

Countdown Rapalas
Was the very first lure I ever bought and used for bass fishing over 25 years ago and still carry them in my tackle box to this day. Have caught many, many nice bass on them over the years. Watch out though for them toothy critters love them to. I have lost many to the lure thief Pikes.

Favorite Ragetail?
Right now I would say the 10 inch Anaconda in the plum color, but I also like the craws and the space monkey.

10" Worms And Weights
You had to bring up the 10' Anaconda. I am kicking myself for I bought a pack of them in the plum color and they had been sitting in my tackle bag since they first came out. I figured the thing is so huge that its bigger then the bass here in IL,LOL so I was saving them for a trip to Texas. For kicks though, fishing's been slow here, so I tried them last weekend and caught one fish after the other on them. The action on that tail just rocks. To bad it was the only bag I had of them for I could have stayed there at the pond for a week just fishing nothing but the Anaconda and catching fish one after the other the whole week. I went threw that bag fast. Gots to get more of them puppy's and quick! I fished them with braid, a 5/0 Gammy Super Line Hook and a 1/4 tungsten weight and had a blast. Caught a few nice ones and some that where not much bigger then the worm, as shown in the picture.

What Rod Do You Use With Braid When Jig Fishing (Not Pitching And Flipping)
Ditto except I actually like the IMX version, same model number, better for jigging. Always afraid I am going to break the GLX model for some reason while jigging. I also really like the older Quantum Tour PT 6'10 Heavy action rod for the real heavy and thick stuff, just has a bit more power to get them out quicker, but they changed the rod this year, made with cheaper parts now.

Lamiglas
LOL I actually asked that same question about the blanks and was told it was the same graphite only wrapped different with whatever it is that holds the graphite together, different direction or something, she lost me after the first two minutes of her trying to explain it to me. LOL I don't know but the actions are pretty dang similar between the Excels and Certs. I do really like the Excel Frog rod, in fact I own frogs rods that cost twice as much that are nowhere near as good as the Excel as far as action and power go, they may have better guides and such, but the Excel actually is my favorite frog rod right now. They just need to work out that customer service issue and then I would buy more.

Lamiglas
Glad to hear they took care of you. I can't speak for my buddy of whom is still waiting for his replacement or fixed rod, well I could but I would get banned if I used the language he does about this issue, but all's I can tell you is I called three times on a minor issue and was told three times the end cap would go out the following day of which the following day meant weeks. Now I understand an end cap has no effect on the performance of the rod, but it is a brand new rod that I paid good money for and really, how hard is it to put an end cap in a envelope and mail it out. Small price to pay to keep a customer happy and coming back for more. They where very friendly on the phone and the fact is if they would have just said it will be a month or two before we can ship one out, I could have accepted that, I mean it is just and end cap, but that is not what I was told, in fact what I was told and what I got in return made me, the customer, feel like they where blowing me off, they got my money already so who cares. The bottom line is, they do make great rods and actually I am surprised more people are not using Lamiglas rods, but the customer service department really needs to step up there game IMO, at the very least, just tell the truth instead of BS-ing the customer. Yes I am sure they have a hundred customers all wanting this or that right now, but just tell it like it is for a change and guys like me won't be posting bad experiences with the company online. I hate doing such, especially when where talking about a company with a solid product, but at the same time if a fellow basser is asking about such, well I want to help just as reading post about other products has helped me decide. I mean I could have just as easily said, they have great customer service, sent me my part in a heartbeat, if they just would have been honest with me.

Sorry to hear that. I wish you better luck then we have had with Lamiglas.

Lamiglas
I own a few Certified Pros and a couple Excels. Very good rods IMO, however there customer service, if you ever have a problem, is about the worst in the biz. A friend of mine is still waiting for a replacement for a Certified Pro Rod he sent in 5 months ago because the reel seat came lose. It took two months and three phone calls for me to finally receive an end cap that fell off the end of one of my excel rods and into the lake. Every call I was told it would ship out the next day, I guess next day to them means weeks. Very friendly on the phone, but full of hot air. On the flip side, I once called Loomis for a replacement rod tip guide of which was under warranty. Not only did I receive the guide in week, they sent me 5 of them along with a nice Loomis decal. Lamiglass could learn a few things from Loomis.(note this was when Gary owned the company so things may be different now a days) Bottom line, good rods, just really bad / slow customer service if you ever need to use such.

Help Finding A Lure Please
Yeah, I tried the e-mail route with no reply. Also called them and it appears the number is disconnected. Also tried to contact a manufacturers rep of whom I have dealt with in the past and his number is also disconnected. Guess it be time to try to figure out how to make a modification to an Original Floating Rapala or something. GRRR!

Help Finding A Lure Please
I am not sure they are even around anymore. I have even talked to a couple of pro friends of mine that use Bagley Products and they have no clue whats going on at Bagleys or even if they exist anymore. Last known rumor, keyword being rumor, is that Rapala made them an offer to buy them out. Whether true or not, I have no clue.

Charlie's Worms Back In Business
This is great news, however they really need to setup an online store this time around.

Help Finding A Lure Please
Yeah I saw those. Was hoping to find some in the same size and color as the picture. Did Bagley go out of biz or something?

Vicious At Walmart
I have been using Vicious Ultimate for a couple years now. To me it reminds of of back in the day when Stren was owned by DuPont and they made Prime and Prime Plus Co-poly line. It's a little bit stiffer then normal mono, but the stuff is tougher then nails. Have not had any issues at all with it. What I really like about it is the confidence it gives me as far as not worrying about break offs. There may be softer, maybe easier casting mono out there, but this stuff works great for me and at a great price. I buy the 1000 yard spools direct from Vicious. Why is it that there is no tackle shops near bye and yet the Wally World here never has anything I hear there carrying. I went up there a couple days ago looking for Vicious line and they did not have a thing by Vicious at our store. Just Stren, of which I have boycotted since they discontinued Super Braid, Trilene of which is ok and Spiderwire, but not in any pound test I use. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Thank God for Tackle Warehouse and the other online fishing tackle stores!

Will An Mbr844C Imx Work As A Frog Rod?
I have fished frogs with this rod. The Pluses: It cast great Light enough to fish frogs all day without wearing you out It has the perfect tip action IMO for working the frog Love this rod for open water or light cover frog fishing The Minus: Does not really have the backbone for the real heavy slop. Take a 2lb bass and add 5lbs of weeds and the rod feels like its about to snap as your trying to pull that bass out. Unlike a rod designed for frog fishing, you can't really horse them out of the thick stuff with this rod, you can get them out, but its not like a frog rod with backbone where you can yank them up on top and get them coming toward you in seconds. Bottom line IMO, if your not fishing the real heavy stuff this rod works great for frogs. If fishing heavy slop, there are much better choices. It can be done, you just won't be able to horse them out like you can with a rod designed for frog fishing.

G.loomis Gl2-Gl3-Imx Differences?
I own several GL3 and IMX rods. Both IMO are great rods however I do agree that in today's market the GL3 is way over priced and actually the IMX is getting some serious competition these days from other companies. Both models and the GL2 for that matter, have been around for over 20 to some 30 years or more now. I miss the old reel seats with the metal ring and IMO the pac bay guides they use to use where better, but the blanks are still the same. Thank God Shimano has not messed up the Loomis blanks. The real difference between the two models that I own IMO is the IMX is more sensitive. I use the IMX for things like worms, jigs and so forth where your better off having a more sensitive rod and use the GL3 for things like crankbaits, topwaters and such. Don't own any GL2's so I can't commit on those.

MBR844
When it comes to worm fishing, the MBR844c is all I use. I suppose you could use it for spinnerbaits also for I have used it's sister rod the MBR784c of which is the same action only a shorter rod, for spinnerbaits. I have used the MBR844c for buzzbaits also and really like it for that, but keep in mind I am no expert when it comes to buzzbaits. I have also used it for frog fishing in open water or around things such as docks and other wood cover, sea walls, and rocky cover. Not the best choice though for heavy weed areas IMO. The rod is rated as heavy action but IMO it's more of a MH when compared to other brands heavy action. Pulling in a bass covered with 5lbs of weeds scares me a bit that the rod may break under such load. As for how heavy the rod is, lightest 7ft rod I have ever owned. there may be lighter out there today, but this rod is plenty light enough to fish all day without any problem.

uneven line on the spool
I have had this happen. I will try to explain without knowing the exact name of the part. Anyways this seems to happen more when I use PP braid. The worm gear cover, I guess that's what you call it, where the line guide runs back and forth on, the chrome piece that covers the worm gear. On the ends where it meets the frame of the reel, seem to collect gunk. When that gunk gets thick it prevents the line guide from fully going all the way to the left or the right. I use a pick to clean these areas. Not saying this is the only cause, but worth checking out. Takes only a few seconds to remove the gunk. Hope I explained that well enough. Not knowing the actual name of that part makes it a little hard to explain.

Fishing books
Have I been living under a rock? The Lindner's don't own In-Fisherman anymore? The best book I have ever read on what your looking for is In-Fisherman's Largemouth Bass book. I re-read this book every winter to help with my mental illness called cabin fever. LOL

Pond Fisherman Needs Advice
"Threw other jigs with skirts and weed gaurds..." Alot of times the slimmer profile of a craw style bait (I prefer Chigger Craws and Rage Craws) without the skirt of a jig will catch more fish than a jig with a craw trailer. I think the less bulky profile is more attractive to the big girls while it still provides an easy, filling meal. The jig was one of the first lures I started throwing 25 years ago. It's funny how one is still learning after 25 years of bass fishing. I guess you can say that's one of the things that makes bass fishing such an exciting sport for no matter how much you know there is always more to learn. I just discovered what your saying last year. I am amazed at the results. It's really mind boggling how a simple little change at the right time can make or break a day on the water. BTW I just picked up a couple packs of Rage Craws, Look forward to giving them a good workout. If there half as good as the Rage Monkey I am going to be one happy bass fisherman. HEHE

Pond Fisherman Needs Advice
I don't know really if this will help, but I know it helped on the ponds I fish. About 4 years ago I started throwing hollow body frogs at the ponds, been doing so at the lakes for about 6 years now, and have been amazed at the size increase of the bass I have been catching the last couple years. Even on dish bowl ponds with no visible cover to target. I still catch the 1 pound bass on the frog but never in my 25 years of bass fishing have I caught so many 4 to 6 pound bass then I have in the last few years. In fact I have caught more such size bass in the last 3 years then I have in my whole 25 years of bass fishing combined. Last year I added throwing a football jig without a skirt or weed guard, with the large size paca craw and had days where I averaged 3 to 4lb bass, of which is great here in IL. I also caught a 8lber on this setup of which was only the third 8lb class bass I have caught here in IL in all the years fishing here. Threw other football jigs with skirts and a weed guard, with the same large paca craw and did not get half the hits or size bass. Weird, but what ever works. Another lure of which I am no expert at, but my fishing partner is, is the buzzbait. Some of the bass he catches on that thing is amazing. He uses only one color, Black with a black blade, in only one size, 1/2 oz. The theory is early mourning or late evening, but he must have a four leaf clover in his back pocket because I have seen him catch many big bass on the thing smack dab in the middle of the day in bright sunlight. One of the biggest misconceptions to pond fishing is you got to go small. Sure small lures work, but there not the only way to catch bass in small ponds. Big bass will hit bigger lures no matter where they live, provided the conditions are right. Try up sizing. You may not get as many hits, but most of what does hit will surprise you.

Fishing ponds just after ice out?
Bass Lake? Is that the one near Army Trail And Smith Road? Pratt's has been that way since I started fishing there way back in the early 80's, however one day 2 years ago I was hammering them on a frog out there. I only fish it once or twice a year now, but if you hit that frog bite just right, it can be a blast out there. I actually had a dentist appointment in St Charles at 11am, so I hit Pratt's early and ended up missing my dentist appointment for the frog bite was on. LOL Good luck out there today. I went out for a couple hours at a pond close to home here in Sycamore, did not get a bite but it sure felt good wetting a line. Tried a Jig & Craw, Crankbait, Rattle Trap and A Senko with no luck.
