My Tackle - What to get next?
Ya, I have a suggestion. Fish with what ya got for awhile. You have a good selection of baits, and after just a month or two of fishing, spending quality time with the baits you have already will pay dividends later. I see a lot of guys who are a "jack of all trades, but master of none." Versatility is great, and definitely necessary, but the more stuff you have the more likely you will be to spend your time thinking about the next bait choice as opposed to fishing the bait that's in the water to the best of your ability. Don't worry, the bait monkey will catch up with you soon enough. ;D

Crucial warranty
Ya, seems strange. I would think it's still the same deal, just curious as to why it is listed the way it is... I may try to call tomorrow just for the heck of it.

Last year for me it was a Chatterbait, shad colored.

Crucial warranty
The page came up after I submitted my registration. This is what came up: "Limited Lifetime Warranty Rods included in this warranty program are Teramar, Convergence, Talora, Compre, Clarus, Specialty Bluewater, Calcutta, and Tallus."

My nephew has one, fishes it quite a bit. Fun to watch it coming through the water, action is unlike other frogs.

Chatterbait Hooks
There is now a chatterbait pro series version, hopefully it sports an upgrade in hook quality. I haven't had a problem with the hooks not being sharp enough, but they feel like you could break them in half if you really tried. I had a saltwater version Chatterbait and the hook separated from the rest of the bait as I netted a redfish. It was the first fish that bait had handled, certainly no reason for it to break except for poor quality. I bought some Revenge baits from another member, haven't tried them but they look to be built well.

Crucial warranty
Anyone know about any change in warranty for the Crucial series? I went to register one online, and the Crucial's were not listed as having the limited lifetime warranty (neither was the Cumara). The rod had the lifetime warranty attached to the handle when I got it, but it seems strange the way it was omitted on the website. I plan on giving them a call, but not sure if they will be open today. Any ideas? :-/

Shimano Crucial Users
I have this one as well, and I love it so far. I have not used it for it's labeled use (drop shot) but it is very versatile. It throws weightless worms, 4 inch senkos and flukes very well. I have borrowed the 7'2" mh xf version on a couple of trips, and I liked it even more. Eventually I will be getting that rod as well.

just a general queastion. i guess
4 inch Senko. If you can get a look at what the "bait" is, try to match the color. If still a mystery, just go with a basic color (green pumpkin/june bug/black) for starters.

1st Baitcaster purchase
Well, I think you will be happy with either the citica or the pq. I have both and like both a lot. I was pretty infatuated with the pq when I first got it. I was trying lots of different baits, constantly tinkering with the mag brake, just having a grand ole time. Something different to get my attention I guess, since I had been using centrifugal only reels for quite awhile. But after a couple of months the newness wore off, and I realized that I throw a lot of different weights with my citicas, and never have to think about changing a dial. So, having said all that, I'd vote for a citica. And btw, you can get one for less than $100 nib on ebay.

Lake Carlton Arms apartments in Lutz, Florida
Johnny there always seem to be a lot of jack's wherever you happen to be fishing. ;D I fished the lake in there many moons ago. Certainly could have an electric back then. I'd be shocked if you couldn't have one. If they don't, get into a kayak.

Surprised they didn't go with a swept handle for this reel.

Mid Level Rod Brands
Falcon customer service is also top notch, at least for me they were. I have one Cara and love it so far. Powell would definitely be a great choice. I haven't had warranty issues, but all of my contact with customer service has been great. If I was trying to go with just one line of rods, it would be Powell. Great deals can be found on-line as well, making them even sweeter.

If it is only a few months old and you have proof of purchase, send it back. I believe they will probably just send you a new reel.
