  1. I hate braided line! But I have to say that I have recently swapped my baitcasters to braid cause when the fish is in the salad, braid won't break off. I try to keep braid primarily on my topwater baits.
  2. Do you have a manual or automatic transmission? Your probably not doing anything wrong. Remember your boat and trailer are pulling away from your truck on a inclined ramp. Thats allot of weight pulling against the transmission. JMHO
  3. Does your club tournaments allow tillers? Just wondering cause some clubs are snobs.
  4. UCF is my old stomping grounds. Cut my bass fishing teeth in that area. Even got my truck stuck in a pond on UCF campus while trying to launch a boat. Welcome aboard brother!
  5. Lots of alligators, softshell turtles and hundreds of mudfish to 15#'s.
  6. Preach4Bass I may not have made a clear statement. As a professional guide, I do not consider "Guides" to be professional fisherman. A guides income comes from putting the client on the fish. The "Pro" earns his money fishing tournaments and from sponsor endorsements, etc. I just consider the two occupations to be different.
  7. I would agree with this 100%.
  8. Copperhead...aka water moccasin. You can tell them by the viper head.
  9. Never broke a rod on a hookset. Ceiling fans and trolling motors only ;D I believe a monster hookset is over rated.
  10. The picture is the pic of a lifetime for sure. Awesome fish brother!
  11. Dats a Stud!
  12. Big O, what state are you in?
  13. I was out there yesterday for the first time. The posting is up in the "Recent Outing" page. A JD's custombaits "Monster Worm" in the salad was the ticket for us. My three fish came on the first twitch.
  14. I always use an "O" ring. I can't afford not too. Considering the price of a bag of Yamamotos at $7. You get way more fish out of a Senko than without. I use the "Wacky O Tool to put the "O" ring on the worm. It is sold at Bass Pro Shops for around $6 and comes with about 10 "O" rings. You can buy the bags to reload the tool at Bass Pro Shops or you can buy #5 "O" rings in the plumbing section of most hardware stores.
  15. On thursday I fished "Alligator Alley" for the first time. I was with Dan from JD'sCustomBaits. Dan was doing field testing on a new alligator prototype rubber bait. I have been in south Florida now for almost 12 years and driven over the Alley countless times but never stopped to fish it. We put in at MM44 or something like that. Fishing next to a major interstate was extremely loud compared to the serene back country areas I frequent. I was sporting a goose egg until Dan figured that we needed to find moving water. When we found it we scored 6 or 7 bass. Here is my first bass from "Alligator Alley". He hit a weightless jdscustombaits monster worm with a 5/0 hook.
  16. I'am interested.......
  17. Despite the water being extremely high in the swamp, the best fishing in the southern everglades is going off now. I needed some fish for a fish fry lunch. Put the jeep in 4WD and made out for the canal. It was pretty quick work, ten cast and a five fish limit. All caught on a Rapala SR7. *Warning to all bank beaters* The gators are pretty hostile now and really don't mind charging you on the bank. Keep all fish off the ground. I like to hang mine in the trees.
  18. I like the Pop-R as slow as possible. I use small pops and twitches with a extended pauses. I get allot of hits on the pause.
  19. Copehhagen Long Cut and a Sub Way sandwhich.
  20. I used to camp on Darbone all the time as a kid.
  21. JD's is in Davie Fl. They do custom colors for you. Google them JD's Custom Baits. Once you find the web site just call them. I would post the web address but not sure if that is allowed.
  22. The Wobblehead lure will pull the biggest bass out of your favorite fishing hole. Hey fellas when I find something that works I like to share. When I was a kid I used to see this funny looking gadget in my stepfathers tacklebox. Turns out it was the Wobblehead made not too far from my childhood home in Louisiania. As time passed I would see the flat spoon lure on the shelves of tackle retailers and say what a odd looking thing. That was then this is now..... A local everglades old timer and I were talking about how things were in the swamp when he was a kid. He would tell me about catching trophy bass on a black spoon with a black worm trailer. He swore that most of his big bass were caught on it by running the lilly pads and laydowns. I had picked up a few of the Wobbleheads last year at Bass Pro Shops in Davie Florida. I figured it would be cool to see what swim worming was all about. They sat in my tacklebox for months. I tied the flat spoon on a couple of times and swam it like a snake with the six inch worm trailer. I had good success with it. Skipping forward, A friend from JD's Custom Baits produced these hand poured monster worms. This worm was also old school, something his father used to fish tournaments with thirty plus years ago. The monster worm looks and runs like a small snake. I was swimming the worm along with great success and had a brain storm.....how about putting one on the Wobblehead and see what happens. I used a slow retreive and the action was incredible, exactly like a snake. My second cast into the center of the canal got jammed up solid. You know when you get a big fish and he really don't run or splash, he just moves off heavy taking drag? That was the first of many big fish hookups with the old school Wobblehead. The old timer was right on, the black spoon with a worm trailer was like bass candy. I noticed that the smaller bass were less inclined to take a swipe but the larger bass ate it like candy. Like I said up top when I find something that works I like to share. Have any of yall ever used one?
  23. Most of the time we go fishing...then sometimes we go catching. Nice job brother.
  24. I downloaded the exploaded view of the schematics from shimano like Simp suggested. Started in and got it dissasembled. I was thankful that no springs came flying out. Put a drop of oil on each bearing. Sounds smooth, like it just came out of the box.
