  1. "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Fishing Basics" by Mike Toth. Seriously. You gotta learn how to crawl before you learn how to walk.
  2. Been absolutely killin' 'em this fall at my favorite pond with the 1 oz. Rat-L-Trap, chrome, especially the black back, although sometimes they prefer the blue back. Just been chuckin' it out into the middle and burning it back with a low rod tip position.
  3. Guess nobody has used these?
  4. Yeah, we don't really have anything in what the manufacturer calls bluegill, but I'm probably gonna order some before March.
  5. My son and I fish ponds almost exclusively, one in particular which seems to have an abundant population of bluegill, so I was thinking about purchasing some. Was just wondering if they work!
  6. Apologies, here's a link to what some of them look like........
  7. Has anybody had any luck with these, especially the buzzbaits and spinnerbaits? Thanks for any and all responses.
  8. Strike King Buzz King, white or chartreuse, because the strikes are just awesome!
  9. Honestly, the best thing I got for Christmas was the multiple high five exchanges with my daughter when she checked to see if her first paycheck from her first full time job after graduating from college in May was deposited into her account on Christmas morning.
  10. Thanks, guys! Supposed to get up to 63 degrees here today, hoping to grab some of your suggested combinations and get back out there!
  11. Do any of you guys use the Uncle Josh Pork Frog trailers with your jigs?
  12. We've had mild weather recently that's extended our pond fishing, so I'm trying to adjust accordingly. The reaction bite has all but disappeared, so I'm slowing way down and using plastic lizards right now with varying success. I don't currently own any jigs, so I was wondering if any of you all could recommend some to try. My primary outfit is a Shimano Curado 200 on a 6' Fenwick Eagle GT with Triple Fish Camo-Escent, 10# test. Size, head shape and color, weight, skirt patterns and trailers are confusing, to say the least, especially when fishing from the bank or dock. Thanks to all and Happy Thanksgiving!
  13. I'm losing hope, ya'll. I've googled every combination I can think of trying to find these, to no avail...biggest plastic lizard, longest plastic lizards, etc., etc. They GOTTA out there somewhere.....
  14. Oh, I and I agree 100% with everybody who cited the Creme Scoundrel pre-rig. Walmart's ALWAYS got some on the shelf, they never seem to run out.
  15. Luhr Jensen's Bass Oreno. We have one of the large ones, 5/8 oz., in the frog pattern that, if there's any topwater bite at all, works consistently. It's amazing how such a simple lure can attract big fish.
  16. The escape, for sure, to the outdoors, but especially that unique jerk on the end of the line. It's just a real adrenaline rush unlike any other.................
  17. When my son and I decided we were serious enough about fishing that we wanted to invest in baitcasting combos, we went to a great local tackle shop to ask for advice and suggestions. The guys who worked there were great people who loved to fish. To a man, they told us that, while they didn't agree on much, the one thing they did agree on was which fishing line to use....Triple Fish Camo-Escent. They sold it, they highly recommended it, and the 10 lb. test is what we've used to this day. We still use the cheap, clear stuff on our spincasters (2 Zebco 33's and one 808), but we use only the Triple Fish on our baitcasters. It's made from something called Perlon, which is supposed to be superior to other nylon monfiliments. I don't know for sure if it is or not, but, like I said, we still use it every time out.
  18. Thanks everyone! Almost time to go see Santa!
  19. No. How many anglers started fishing as kids with live bait? Besides, I and my son have been skunked plenty of times using live bait.....not even that's a guarantee you'll land one. Having said that, I do prefer the feel of hooking one with an artificial lure as opposed to a large shiner, nightcrawler or chicken parts.
  20. That's not what I found, but they sure look interesting, don't they? May have to try them, too!
  21. No sir, that doesn't look familiar, but I appreciate the effort!
  22. No, unfortunately I don't have the packaging because I hadn't ordered any of them....yet. Also, I found the JD lures during my search to find my original ......that's not them, but they look good, too!
  23. I recently found some 10" plastic lizards online, one of which came in black with either yellow or chartreuse spots/dots (can't remember which). However, I failed to add the URL to my favorites list, so now, of course, I can't find them. Does anyone out there in bassresource.comland know of the brand of which I seek? Thanks in advance for any help..............
  24. Thanks folks! Does anyone know what the comparable Fenwick spinning rod would be?
  25. Welcome Tom, thanks for your service to our great country and stay safe over there!
