Spotted Bass
I have only caught a few of these, and I'm wondering what are some favorite baits and techniques for these fish. They seem to bite better during this time of year. Randy

Secondary Points??
I have heard of people catching good fish on these points. Can you define for me what they are and how to locate them. I am just getting started and trying to learn as much as possible.

Jig Fishing
Whay can't I catch a fish on a jig. I am using a 1/2 oz jig, by strike works with a craw tube trailer. The lake I fish is real brushy and it's hard not to feel like I am stuck all the time. Should I use a lighter jig. I have been fishing it in 2-12' of water as well as 25'+. I use the same colors that I would use in plastic. I can fish an area, and go back with my worm and catch fish, so I know I am fishing productive areas. Do you thinks some lakes just don't do well as far as a jig goes. I have tried it off and on all year, and have yet to catch a fish or have a bite for that mater. Please help.

How did you do this years so far?
My first year bass fishing, and I have done pretty good. In our club of around 50 member, I am in 3rd place with a 12# lead, and only ounces from second. My biggest bass this year was 8.14#, it's the fish in the photo. I won Big Bass and first place that trip. I have finished 2nd and in the top 10 almost every other trip. The top ten go to a mini classic, so Looks like I will be there ;D

well I assure it was not funny when all this was going on. My adrenlin was pumping, standing out in the hot sun. When I got back to the car I could not hold my hands still. It's always good to have something funny to look back on.

Caught a good one on a Yellow Magic today!!!
Finally got my yellow magic and scum frog in the mail today, so I decide to go to a local pond and try them out. Now I didn't expect to catch any thing, so All I took was 1 rod and the yellow magic. No pliers or cell phone (to call for help). So I throw it out in open water and begin working it back to the bank. About 20 yds from the bank, here come a duck out of the miffle of nowhere. It begins attacking my new $15.00 lure and I panic, so I jerk real hard. Bad mistake. Now I have one mad duck on the end of my line and the fight is on. That thing was taking drag. The duck went around a tree, and up on the bank. I was pulling, and he was pulling. No all the other duck come to see what is going on. After 20 minutes the duck tires down enough I can rell him up to the bank. When I get the duck up close I see he is hooked in the leg between the two bones with the back hook. Now remeber I had no pliers and I ain't losing this bait. So the duck is pretty calm, until I reach down and grab him by the foot and all hell breaks loose. He starts rolling and thring to get me with his other foot and trying to peck me with it's beak. I faught with that duck for probabbly 30 minutes. I was finally able to put my foot on his head and hold on to one foot, but he still had one free foot and two wings. Finally the hole in his let got big enough that I was able to get the hook out. When it was ll said and done he swam back to the other ducks, and I look down and I am bleading. Don't know if it was the duck or the extra hook on the yellow magic, but I got quite a few spots with band aids on them.

what is the deepest you have ever caught a LMB
I would say 18'. Caught it this weekend on a dd22. Man that was fun.

how long before you set the hook?
Depends on the bait, but he said he was using Zoom worm.

how long before you set the hook?
Don't wait for a tap. Wait for any thing that is not normal. If you question it, set the hook. Sometimes the tap you feel is the fish droping your bait. This weekend, I never felt a bit, but I caught 10 fish up to 3#s. They were slowly moving with my line toward me side to side, or away from me. So I never felt them bite. At this time of the year the fish are kinda of lazy and are not going to hit it real hard. If you were mising all the fish you say, chances are it was perch. I have had perch hit my bait all summer, but you got to learn the difference between a perch and bass bite, but don't move. If there are perch int he area, then there will be bass. Perch are one fo a bass favorite meal. Let the perch hit it, normally as soon as it hit's the water, let them drop it and continue to fish that area. Feeling a bass bite only come with experence, so spend as much time on the water and the first time your line changes of does something diffrent set the hook and catch that fish. Good luck!!

C-Rig over a T-Rig
O.K., that makes sense. But how does the bite feel on a c-rih. I know all bites are not the same, but will tey slowly swim off with it or will they slam it?

C-Rig over a T-Rig
What is the advantage of using a C-rig. Couldn't a person use a t-rig in the same situation? Reason for me asking is I was fishing this weekend, and another angler on the water was telling me about using a T-rig in 20-25' of water, and after seeing his catch I was amazed. I had always heard of only using a C-rig in that deep of water. I have very limited experience with a c-rig, being I have not caught a fish on it. Does the bite feel the same on a C-rig as a T-rig? What is the deepest that you would use a T-rig, and what size of weight would be the max that you would use on a T-rig?
