39.25" 13lb pike
Holy Pike! I would have no idea where to begin if I pulled one of those in myself. Maybe grab him under the mouth where his gill slit begins. I bet it's easier said than done though, especially if you get a lively one! All the toothy critter's I've ever caught were small, so I could just get them under their belly, but that might be a challenge with that fish

Transducers
During our recent trip to Raystown, my transducer got ripped from the wire... It's for an Eagle Supra ID. My real question is, can I just buy any old transducer and wire it into my existing set up. I know the connectors are different on most of the models but is the wiring usually the same?

Jerkbaits in the fall???
Suspending jerkbaits and flukes are the best baits to use when the water gets around 60 degrees. The colder the water, the longer the pause between jerks. I have let them sit for 30 seconds between jerks before (this was right after the ice melted). I like the X-raps... Hands down the best jerkbaits out. The dressed trebles really help give it subtle action.

Handpours?
please be careful when doing this... it is very addictive! dirt cheap i believe is incorrect... dont forget plastic, colors, glitter, scent, bags, pyrex cups, source for heat, hot mill gloves, etc. the point is... yes the molds may seem expensive and the bulk.. but dont forget the things that are most of your money and need to be continuously replaced The rest of the stuff is cheap... You'll just buy a ton of it and spend a ton of money. If you pour for yourself and do maybe 3 or 4 colors and flakes, you shouldn't need to spend much I just meant the molds are the most expensive pieces.

Senkos catch fish....period.
I think any stick style bait wacky rigged will work. I like using El Grande Hatch Match Sticks. When it gets real tough try one of Al Winco's creek wacky worms.

Pa Meet Up - The Results
Well I knew it had some JPEG compression (the little boxy looking noise) but I figured it was because of the reduction. It seems like it takes sharper and more colorful photos.

Ok cool. I was just going to paint the inside of a cardboard box white, cut the sides out and put white tissue paper over it, get a white piece of card stock for the back (to curve the edges), place two lights beside the tissue paper and call it finished

fourbizz, I don't know why you think you don't have skills. That's a great shot! It's not the equipment, it's the person shooting. I've seen some amazing photos come from point and shoots. Same with you String, you have some great photos. Did you shoot that lure? I'm currently working on a product shoot box Flowers 2 by nate.follmer, on Flickr

grubs help
There is nothing like grub fishing with ultra light tackle. I use 3 inch grubs (no preference on brands, I have all kinds). The colors I use are green pumpkin, black, blue or silver/grey. As far as rigging goes - I'll use ball head jigs, usually as small as I can find, but you have to use bigger ones if you're throwing into some heavy current. Start with a 3/16 oz for light current, if it gets heavy and deep, go with 3/8 or 1/2 oz. You can even texas rig them with a slip weight or run them weightless. This is a good technique when the bite is tough. If that isn't working, nose hook it! With all of these rigging techniques, all you have to do it let it sit, give it a little pop or drag every so often... Fish it slower than you would a tube, the tail will do all the work. Using a ball head jig and a grub is also a killer walleye technique.

Swim Bait's/Who's are better?
Um, ok... I like Tru-Tungsten and Strike King swimbaits. I haven't been using the hard swims for very long though, so I haven't tried many other brands (the cheapo ones from Dick's aren't very durable, I forget the brand name). Never seen a swimbait like that before...

Handpours?
Tackle Underground is where you want to look. They have a ton of info on pouring. I've been wanting to pour for years but can't find the time. Molds will be the bulk of your purchase. Everything else is dirt cheap.

You almost need to run a good section of the lake to produce. Chris and I found that thick stuff you spoke of speed (it was back in the cove where the research center is). Chris had some hits on a stick bait but no fish. I don't think I'll go back without my outboard, Old Blue was struggling Which one of you guys is skeet and which is bassfisherjk? I only know people by screen names ha ha (which one said I wasnt talking? ) I think next time we should fish a smaller lake so we can fish "together". I didn't see any of you after we met ha ha I'm glad we all had a good time. That's the beauty of that lake, it's either on or completely off. Only one guy we talked to in the tourney had fish, so it wasn't just us missing the fish. Here's the only two pics I have (I'm still to afraid to take the SLR fishing): Speed was throwing an 8 foot swimbait 2000 yards with that carrot stick ha How did that pic of blast off turn out that you took?

Sony Alpha a230. Good camera, my only gripe is that Iso 1600 and Iso 3200 are all but unusable due to noise. My buddies rebel does fine at these levels (they have a better sensor). Still a good camera for the money though.

Pa Meet Up - The Results
First off, thanks to everyone who came. I enjoyed meeting all of you (Jim I want to have a beer with your dad, I bet he has some awesome stories!) And thanks Speed for helping organize the meet. We had a good turn out and so did the tournament that launched from James Creek ha ha conditions were tough. ChrisBass and I fought the wind all day. I wish I would have fixed the outboard, would have made it easier. You all had awesome boats and we were stuck in Old Blue Chris and I fished from 7 to 11. He caught 1 and I caught 0 so together, that makes 10. We just couldn't get a pattern together. I tried about every tactic I had. Ill let Chris share his story though and not give up his catch Can't wait for the next meet, you guys are awesome. We will get the rest of you in the next one!

Pandora radio. Anyone else use it?
Mobile app on droid is free and plays like 1 10 second ad every 20 songs or so. I listened to it for 2 hours today, but didn't hear any ads. The web version plays way too many ads, but has more features. Think about how much something like that takes to run. They have to make money somehow. I used last.fm but they don't seem to have the same quality of music. seemed to be more underground than Pandora.

Many of my shots are straight out of the camera. These days, if I can't get it done in DPP or Adobe Camera Raw, then its not a good shot. And that's why your a photographer and I'm a photoshop-rapher I'm selling on that. Your comps are tight, have good basics down, now just learn how to do things in camera. You'd be a monster with off camera lighting. Get your arse down here to PA and give a camera tutorial some time. I'll show up. BURN! Thanks J! I want to get some light set ups and a decent flash. I'm not blaming the camera, but this thing is horrible in low light (anything over ISO800 is horrible) and I shoot mostly at dusk I love shooting in winter though, all that reflecting light makes life easier

I hope not. It might push some of the shallow fish out, but I was planning on fishing deep anyway We'll see though, I hope it doesn't kill the topwater bite!

Here's a free noise reducer: http://noiseware-community-edition.en.softonic.com/ If you want something like Photoshop, but don't want to drop the crazy amount on money for it (I got mine with a school license, so it was cheap, I'd never pay the full price ). Look at Photoshop Elements or TheGIMP. GIMP takes awhile to get used to, but it does most of the same things photoshop does. Another thing too is, most of my shots are taken at 10.2 MP then reduced down to usually 3 to 5 MP. Dropping that much in MP really hides the noise and hides all the imperfections haha
