When to break out the swimbaits??
You should have seen the big old swim Speed was throwing at Raystown... It looked like he was heaving a yellow fin tuna He's right though, you can't just go tossing random fish and expect it to be productive. Personally, I like the soft swimbaits more, but both will produce some nice fish!

Nice work! What is the size of that screw eye in the one pic? That should never pull out LOL

Rage Tail Baby Craw hook type/size?
Weighted swimbaits hooks are a great way to rig the baby craw. Especially in the fall, the smallmouth love the horizontal fall you get with this set up! Another technique to try is put a 'sluggo' hook on them (straight shanked offset hook) and use them as a finesse topwater bait.

Pa Fish and Boat Commission Voting on C&R Season on Susky and Juniata Rivers
Robby, They have them under two categories, Muskie and Tiger Muskie... I'm assuming the Muskie can breed and the Tigers cannot... They dropped 1,000 to 2,000 in the Juniata near Raystown and usually only 200 in the other areas. Well that kind of kills all the negative effects people think the muskie have... The smallies are in better shape in the areas that received more muskie!

Pa Fish and Boat Commission Voting on C&R Season on Susky and Juniata Rivers
Good stuff here guys, thanks for keeping it civil I've heard a mixed bag about this but what impact do you think muskie stocking has on bass populations? They stock a lot of muskie in both of these rivers. I can't see it having that big of an impact but some people claim it does.

New baits
No, I'm suffering from 'working with idiots syndrome' and it's turning my brain to mush (not you guys, my day job people I work with). HA They make a lot of ID-10T errors...

New baits
Oops, sorry I see its a " not a ' now HA. Ignore me, I'm having an off day

New baits
Ah, I meant knowing where the line tie actually goes to get it to dive or not. I can't believe that tiny amount of offset can give you 6 foot of depth I guess I didn't mean tune

tru-tungsten jigs
Very sensitive jigs... Worth the money IMO, but it SUCKS when you lose them
-
New baits
geez, that small amount of placement can make that much difference in action... That's nuts! Cool though, but nuts... I bet it's a pain to tune and figure out where these things go

2 Smallies on 1 cast for the first time
Yeap, they are getting aggressive and competing for food... That's always a good sign. You're into the prime time for smallies so keep fishing

Anyone else watching "The Event?"
It comes on right before the show does. It should have gotten it. My DVR starts recording 1 minute before the show starts and it usually starts right at the beginning of the recap.

New baits
Looks great as always! What's up with the dual line ties on the one?

Pa Fish and Boat Commission Voting on C&R Season on Susky and Juniata Rivers
Your right J, but what do you do when some of us cannot practice responsible angling? We can't just turn the other way. I'm not trying to say harvesting fish is killing the population, but some people are taking it to extremes. Example, there's a string of camp sites along what used to be a productive stretch of river. Every year the same people get these sites and we would constantly see them pulling out bass and keeping them. Last year I didn't see these people at these sites and guess what else wasn't there... the fish... This season I see that they have moved up river and a few times I have seen them taking fish yet again... I'm not saying it's completely their fault, but they aren't a small group either and even if they all just took their limit, that's still a lot of fish that could be reproducing.

Pa Fish and Boat Commission Voting on C&R Season on Susky and Juniata Rivers
I know I'm going to catch heat for saying that, but I'm not going to argue my point any further, it's just my opinion The fish are under enough stress from everything else, why stress them further during spawn? Honestly, I DON'T think this is going to help much, but it's a step in the right direction. I was in a rush when I posted this and didn't get my points explained, so it sounds a little... harsh, so I apologize for that. You guys should see all the campers and other anglers along the river where I live. You see them pulling stringers out all the time. There's almost no presents of the commission in that area though, so even if they do extend it to my area, it probably won't be enforced. I know I haven't been catching the numbers I used to. Yet, when I went on a recent trip further up the river (a less populated area), I was amazed at the numbers of fish I saw. Could it be that the sparse population is simply polluting less? Maybe... Or it could be because the fish are being harvested less... I guess we will see how this helps. Robby, I'll agree with you on the cattle run off, it really hits the trout hard and I'm sure the bass are effected also (isn't our area the #1 polluter of the Chesapeake?). I don't think C&R is the only answer, but again, maybe it will get the wheel's turning... Anyway, ramble on, that's why I started this thread, I was curious what everyone else thinks about this. I know a lot of you (most of you probably) know more details about this than I do, so the more you ramble, the more I'll learn I shouldn't have been so quick to take a side on this issue.

I hope your dvr got the recap too. It's good at keeping you in the loop (you'll be lost without it). Last weeks BBT was good too. Sheldon turned himself into a "robot". I loved when they went into the er too "there's no code for that"
