  1. When my X got the 2.2 update, they added VZ Navigator... Who the heck is going to be dumb enough to pay $10 per month for that, when google maps/navigation does a better job AND does more? City ID is another dumb one that I can't get rid of... You CAN get rid of them by 'rooting' your phone, but that voids the warranty and you'll make yourself a nice paperweight if you don't know what you're doing You also lose the over the air updates. Glenn, I'd be using that if T-Mobile worked around here. The EVO is a great phone too, but again, Sprint service is almost null around here...
  2. Depends on the lure... I can get Strike King and Rapala's to run with treble hooks 2 to 3 sizes larger than stock. I usually always have a larger hook on the belly and a stock hook on the back. You really have to experiment with hook size, but usually you can get away with 2 sizes up with no problem. Lipless cranks are the hardest for me to upgrade hooks with. If you keep the 'ratio' of hook sizes the same (if it comes with a 4 and a 6, keep the hooks offset by two. Try a 2 and a 4 for example, or 3 and 5), it usually is ok. Try putting a red hook on the bellies and see which hook the fish go for
  3. Nice nick! I wish my phone had the screen the Samsungs did. The HTC Incredibles used to have that screen in it, but they stopped using them because they were having issues keeping up with demand... I think Samsung was just holding back so they could make them and put them in their own phones... Well played Samsung, well played!
  4. Great fish! What kind of leader was it? Flouro?
  5. How the heck are you wading in crocs? I tried that once in the summer time and all I did was slip on rocks (no grip at all). Maybe the river was trying to get rid of them? I feel like a huge turd in crocs, but man are they comfortable
  6. You got it! I want to see this meatball trick My camera is on it's way to Sony right now The sensor an viewfinder aren't aligned anymore, so all my photos are off to the left! Still under warranty though! This General gets the "Most Epic Facial Hair" Award: Brigadier General Samuel Wylie Crawford Monument by nate.follmer, on Flickr
  7. I tried hi seas black widdow copoly before (alternating black/red). Worked great and I think it floated. The only reason I quit using it was because it was super slick and it backlashed like crazy. Its great on spinning great though (other brands might not be as slick though). The black/red looked awesome if nothing else
  8. Good advice weber! Another thing I was doing wrong was how I was moving the rod during the cast. You have to keep a rhythm almost, forward and backward should take the same amount of time. You also want to keep your arm up fairly high (you will think you look like a goof, but you don't). Remember that your casting the line, not the fly. I actually find it harder to cast the heavier my flies and weights get (especially when you start running multiple nymphs and split shots ha) Bassclary I didn't realize that was you... Freakin' kids and their pictures changing all the time
  9. yeah I should have mentioned I'm not too rough on my waders I'm typically on paths, some dry rock and very rarely go through brush. They have knee pads and felt bottoms, but the felt isn't enough sometimes. I did have a concern about the boots being connected, looks like it would rip but I've been lucky so far Neoprene does suck in the heat, but that's when I switch to shorts and shoes ha ha
  10. I have an 80 dollar pair of Hodgman waders from wal mart. They sell them at Dicks too. They are neoprene chest waders with boots. I use them in mid winter with no problem at all. Great for the money and lots of pockets and hand warmers
  11. I put some red and black YUM HawgTails in with my green Rage Craws and ended up with a Rage Craw with red claws... Works better that way You hear that Big-O.... Green rage craw with red claws.... Make it!
  12. Anytime you want to hit Penn's, just let me know I know a few spots, heck of a hike, but it's worth it! I hope you have comfortable waders/wading boots
  13. Still working on my designs. Been busy with some other projects at the moment. Should have some other designs done by this week. I got the replicator the other night. I also got some various wood to mess around with. I got a bunch of redwood and mahogany from my pap's shop, so we will see how they do I'm going to get each lure cut in two halves, made out of corian, to use as the 'masters' then I'll hollow out the areas for ballast weight's and such manually. I wonder if the corian would be a good idea to use as an actual lure and not just a template.... This is becoming a lot of fun
  14. Oops, I meant the facebook app The X comes with a standard weather thing. It does what I need it too, but if I did get a weather app, it would be Weatherbug
  15. NFL

    How 'bout them Ravens!
  16. Sounds good! I think a trip to some Erie Tribs is in order for some steelhead I haven't ventured out of Central Pa with the fly rod yet... Penn's creek is too hard to leave
  17. sphertz I got the Pflueger combo from Dicks ($49.99 i think?) It's decent for the price. It's one of those things that if you use it and never used anything else, it works great, but if you get your hands on a Sage or a GLoomis, you'll wish you had one of those The only things I hated about the Pflueger was the tippet and leader it came with. I ended up buying some Cortland leaders and a spool of 3 lb. flouro seaguar for my tippet. The flies it comes with are kind of cheaply made too, the wooly bugger in the pack is decent, but the rest of them fell apart after 2 or 3 trout... Ranting here, but that Pflueger makes an awesome river fly rod. I've caught carp on it with no issues either. Just get some wax or something to rub on the rod sections. Before I did that, it would fly apart after about an hour of casting. I put some wax on the ends and it's to the point now that I can't even get it apart with a struggle. Get that to start, then you can buy the more expensive or specialized set ups once you know you'll stick with it... but you will
  18. LOL I have been schooled.... by a tike.... YES! Nice pic too!
  19. I have seen some VERY odd names for flies, but Meat Whistle wins... If you want to get into this, try and get your hands on some rods before you commit. I personally use a pretty long, stiff rod (yeah, laugh it up) even on tiny creeks. Everyone else I fly fish with likes the shorter, faster action rods. Don't be intimidated by all the different lines and flies though. Get yourself a decent rod, some backing line, floating forward weighted line (make sure it gets on the reel the correct way ), a leader and some tippet (or just run a piece of mono for bass) and a hand full of poppers, wooly buggers and streamers and you'll be set
  20. Don't know if it's just me or if it really helps, but I was experimenting with my Bomber suspending jerkbait the other week. I wondered why my Xrap was catching them and the Bomber was not. I added a dressed treble hook to the back of the Bomber... Success! Maybe that little extra subtle movement is all it needs. J's suggestion is probably what you need though. If they are getting that close to the bait, I think changing it up to a different bait will get em!
  21. Does it keep itself current for you? When I had it, the notifications and such were hours off (sometimes even by a day) so I just switched to using the site. Arity - 3d graphing calculator Barcode Generator Catch - note taking app, also records GPS and you can take photos (good for keeping fish logs) it syncs on their site too. Cube Extended - I just got this music player and it seems pretty cool, I also use Museek (better for using it on Random and Smart Shuffle). Dolphin Browser HD - almost a must. Tabbed browsing and a lot of cool ad on's. A lot of people claim to have an issue with speed, but I don't. Google Earth Dropbox - Gives you 2GB of online space that you can access from any PC or your phone. Great for backups and files. If you sign up, PM me and I will give you a refferal link and you and myself will get 250 MB of extra space (they max out the free accounts at 8 GB.) Glyder 2 - (get the free one) a fun game to kill time with, you just fly around and collect things... Guns'n'Glory - another free game. You set up cowboys and other western like people and shoot at settlers that come through canyons (it's similar to a Real Time Strategy game, just try it, it's fun). Key Ring - Keeps all of my club cards in my phone and they can scan the barcodes off the screen. Listen - Podcast's Live TV - Flaky, but you can watch some major networks on your phone. Pretty cool (when it works). My Maps Editor - Very awesome app for mapping out lakes and other things. It's basically google maps, but you can draw on it and add notes then save the link and share it with others (I map structure and fish with it). Pandora - Online music player, I think you all know what it is. RemoteDroid - Use your phone as a wireless keyboard and mouse. Works great (I use it when I watch movies from my PC to my TV) It uses a WiFi connection, all you do is install the PC software, enter the IP it gives you into the phone and it's done! TeslaLED - Uses the camera flash for a flashlight Thinking Space - 'Mind Mapping' software. I use it to brainstorm ideas or keep lengthy notes. TweetCaster - I use it to update twitter and FB in 1 shot. Works better than the twitter app HA. And the most important app: Wilford Brimley Soundboard! HA
  22. That's a nice one! She should tie a frog pattern, mice pattern's seem to work well, I'm sure she could create some kind of frog with foam?
  23. soccplayer - Droid's, I have the X and I think nick decided on the Fascinate (right? ha) either has good cameras. O H I O - Thanks! He may be a dink, but he is a sign of reproduction, so that's good String - Nice Photo! J - sounds good, I always catch the dinks, I have horrible fly presentation There were 20"+ brown's surfacing but they didn't want my fly (I think they were eating midges, and of course, I had none). Caught him on a BWO size 20. Here is where the dink was caught... Right at sunrise:
  24. I do and a lot of other people do too For trout, I usually use a tapered leader (goes from 7 lb test to 4lb.) and then I use a 3 foot piece of 3lb test (they call it tippet). You use that so you don't have to keep replacing leaders. For bass, I just tie a 6lb. piece of mono onto my fly line and don't worry about the leader. I use pretty much the same lures for bass or trout (wooly buggers, crawfish, etc...) They will even hit the bigger dry flies (size 8 and bigger). Poppers are really fun to throw for bass on a fly rod, once you catch a smallie on a fly rod, you'll be hooked for life. A fight with anything on a fly rod is like fighting a monster
  25. I used to love MW... I sold my xbox a few weeks ago because it didn't get played much. The only game I was excited for was gears 3. I have too much gear swag great series and the books/comics are a good read.
