  1. Mojos are a decent rod at a hundred bucks but they are not high modulus. Before you buy another, look at Lamiglas Excel rods. For ten bucks more you get a rod built 100% in the USA with a LIFE TIME WARANTEE. I checked out the series at the factory yesterday. They are still in short supply. I tried to order some but will have to wait till January for my local shop to get theirs. Worth the wait. Nice stuff !
  2. I'm with Road Warrior, blood knot and maybe a tiny, tiny drop of super glue. Never had a failure yet,
  3. Is it a high shrill sound ? You may have a dry bearing, dry spoolshaft and sometimes even a bit of oil or lubricant that is between the outer spool edge and the frame can cause a high pitched sound. Remove the spool and check that first.
  4. Bosstin weights. man..at six bucks for four weights I'll go bankrupt. Thanks anyway
  5. Great question ! Jig-Booyah black blue w. Yum black blue trailer for stained and balck brown with green pumpkin Yum trailer for clear water. Plastics: Black blue Yum Wooly Bug for stained and green pumpkin for clear. A black neon Zoom Super Hog can sometimes be a sleep in tanic water. If you don't use a tungston weight, try it !
  6. Has anyone used hollow core pencil lead as a drop shot weight ? Did you experience line twist ? It works for steelhead fishing. Should work for drop shots ?
  7. Look at the Lamiglas composit xcc725 or Loomis CBR783. I have one each and they are superb rods. The new Lamiglas Excel CB rod is a glass rod and would be a great choice and the price is right at a hundred bucks. Good warrantee too.
  8. Dixon, I assume you bought this rod for crankbaits. If you want to run deep divers get the Revo Winch for sure. If you want more of an all around, the Revo STX 6.4 to 1 gets my vote.
  9. If you can find em', Lamiglas EXCEL rods are in your price range. Maybe TW will have them. Made in Washington State and a life time warrantee according to the web site. No I don't work for Lamiglas. I heard back orders are the norm right now. The MOJO is a decent rod for the price.
  10. Lard_bass, You will be well served to move to baitcasting for your crankbait fishing ! You may want to thing about a reel with a 5.2/1 ratio and not having infinate anti-reverse so you can feel your bait better. That issue is actually as if not more important when fishing deeper running baits. For your first " all around " cranking rod think about a seven footer to help you get distance on casts but maintain control for accuracy. A soft progressive action normally found with glass blanks will be a benefit in casting, playing fish and controlling a fish when close to the boat. Try to get a light weight, comfortable fit grip and well balanced to reduce fatigue. Everyone has their brand of choice. I do. Start with the Lamiglas XCC 725 composite crankbait rod. This was new for 2009 and I like it better that the Skeet Reece 705 R. I did get to see the new Lamiglas EXCEL crankbait rod but they are hard to find right now. That rod will be gem ! Good things to those who wait. Try a bunch because feel is everything. F & P
