  1. well you dont know for sure but why take the risk of losing a fish because you dont have the trailer hook? overall it is really just a confidence factor some people have confidence in the bait with out the trailer hook some have more confidence with one its just about what you prefer
  2. the sammy deff has way sharper hooks and i have never missed a fish with it possibly because it does sit so low in the water. but like i said i have put sure set hooks on the back of all my spooks and they get the job done like no other!
  3. I never used to use a trailer hook but in the past few months i have started using them every single time! in general i dont catch a lot of bass with a spinner bait... maybe im not using the right colors? maybe not using the right presentation? not big enough or to small? but i must say using a red trailer hook has produced more fish for me than a silver or black trailer hook!
  4. My favourite way to fish thick weeds like that is using a Paycheck baits punch skirt! they came from California made to punch through those thick matts on the cali delta! i love these skirts to they come in some awesome colors check it out man! http://www.paycheckbaits.com/
  5. i have actually started putting on a sure set hook on the back of my spooks! one day i thought it might be a good idea and it has worked out real well for me i hardly miss a fish that puts a solid strike on it!
  6. By far one of my most deadly lure/rig in my tackle box has got to be rigging a zoom trick worm weightless. I tie on a 1/0 (red!) offset shank worm EWG gamakatsu hook. Usually on 6lb mono or 8lb floro. I can fish it real slow with its horizontal fall or real fast on top of the water and twitch it. Whatever i do it always seems to catch me more bass than any other rig in my tackle box. By far this is my top go to bait. It seems to me like this is an awesome finesse technique... but yet i never see any of the pros using this rig? why is this? here is bass i caught last saturday night on a zoom black 6inch trick worm weightless!
  7. I have been using a baby bass jr. spook and the fish love em on the other hand i have purchased a chartreuse shad sammy and the bass dont like them nearly as much? maybe color? maybe they swim different? but i think in general i go to the spook first!
  8. From time to time when throwing a spinnerbait i will cut a trick worm and throw it on as a trailer on the spinnerbait. sometimes on the trailer hook and sometimes i will take the trailer hook off... Do yall use trailers on your spinnerbaits? If so... what do you use? thanks Ryan
  9. while i love zoom and you can get them any where! ( dont get me wrong zoom baits can catch you fish just about anywhere!) i still like yamamoto! personally i like the plastic alot better than zooms
  10. sammy is pretty expensive and i havent caught that many fish with it on the other hand the spook which pretty cheap i slam bass with it? is there a different way i should be using the two?
  11. as far as jigs go what colors would your recommend? Top water im thinking of throwing a zara spook (baby bass) and a lucky craft sammy (chartreuse shad). would you recommend natural green colors for crankbaits or try and match the blue herring?
  12. I am going up to lake hartwell on july 18th for a week i was interested to know if anyone had any techniques or baits that have worked real well up there for them!? I know the big bait fish are blue herring! thanks
  13. with a 5inch i usually use a 3/0 its big enough to cover most of the bait but leaves it with a lot of action! 3/0 is the way to go
  14. thats really good! did you just use airbrushes?
