  1. I make some for myself from time to time. Just the old conventional banana head jig thought. Nothing NEAR as fancy as those. Really good looking jigs. Can tell you spend a lot of time with it.
  2. I don't use them much. Mostly muddy water. However, the red rattletrap kills fish down here in the early spring and most of it is on clear water lakes.
  3. Was bored today, and was thinking of tying up something new. Seen a lot of red spinnerbaits out there, but haven't seen any in Rayburn Red like the rattletraps......here is the results. 5/8's head #6 Copper Colorado, Living Rubber skirt. Whatcha think?
  4. I personally don't like first cast fish. I'm more of the above, waste a cast and get past it. Fished a tourney a month or so ago, and caught a solid fish first cast. Did not catch another fish for 3 hours, it was the ONLY fish caught on that bait, switched to one of my jigs later and ended up in second place for the night. So, more or less, the first fish hit something that was not the prime bait that night and sidetracked me for three hours. Other times it could go the other direction. That being said, I still do not like the first cast fish. Absolutely hate it.
  5. he had a point. cochran has made a living fishing shallow....super shallow. don't know that i've ever seen him fish deep. All his big wins were in unbelieveably shallow water. listen to the fish, not your mind. Our minds are what get us beat most of the time.
  6. the smaller lee melting pot should be all you need. I do 1 oz footballs all the way down to 1/16th finesse stuff. will hold approx. 10lbs of lead, however for good pours i would only fill it 1/2 full at the most. Lead will stay hotter that way.
  7. Here is a video of some rubber material that I have used. It's not the round rubber, but the round rubber is very similar in action. It's a cell phone video, so it's pretty rough. http://s840.photobucket.com/albums/zz325/RealDealCustomTackle/?action=view&current=0204100807a.flv
  8. i found the ones at lure craft but they are glass. this person is wanting the plastic.
  9. Anyone know where to buy the insertable plastic worm rattles in bulk? They are hard to find.
  10. thanks marc. my wife laughs at me b/c i am so meticulous when making them.....lol
  11. here's a pic of the a punch skirt i made. and the buzzbaits:
  12. Punch skirts and buzzbaits
  13. Here are some pics of ones I have made up out of the living image material mentioned above. This should give you an idea of how it will look on a jig. http://s840.photobucket.com/albums/zz325/RealDealCustomTackle/Living%20Image%20and%20Striped%20Patterns/
  14. you will have to modify the mold and the hook. Bend the hook back to a 90 degree bend and take a small drill and drill the hook eye slots to accept the flat eye instead of the conventional one.
  15. I just put it in and set the head upright and leave it overnight and package up. Generally use Devcon 2 ton 30 minute. If I only have a few I will use the 7 min.
  16. The link titelines was referring to is www.tjstackle.com
  17. think you only have to have 10 posts to post links or you can email me and I'll post it for you. email is in profile.
  18. what cadman said. plug the hole before painting. I use 1/8th wooden dowell rods though instead of metal pins. Cut them up into about 1 1/2 inch pieces. keep about 20 or 30 for each color. You can get ALOT out of an 18 cent stick. If paint builds up, just get some pliers with some teeth and role it in the teeth and it will come off. I use a torch. Long as you hold the head at the right angle, no problems.
  19. I really have no problem with either one. I have used the eagle claws for myself a lot due to the price. To me the Eagle has the biggest barb of any I have used. The mustad however is a stiffer hook, which if I'm going to be using a heavy hook, the stiffer the better. As far as the gammi's go, I'll agree, cosmetically they are great, but I have broken more gammi's than any hook I have ever used. I have bought from Shorty's before. They are the cheapest by the thousand, but they will break them down to smaller qtys if you ask, however the further down you go the more the price increases due to handling.
  20. Probably will in the future. Pocket just isn't that deep yet.
  21. the left one is the mustad and the right is the claw
