  1. Congrats Crankenstein. Jack told me you have been crushing them out there. We may have to hook up some time - do you fish out of an aluminum boat? Is a fiberglass boat ok to fish out there? We went to the Charities for opening day and it looked pretty hairy out there or definitely could get hairy quickly. We've been mostly just fishing the Mile Roads and Selfridge on LSC but this report is motivating me to head a little north.
  2. Didn't get a chance to fish for long due to weather conditions. About 45 minutes to an hour. Caught one walleye on a L.C. Stayzee. It appears to be a great spot for smallies if the water will ever warm up, and the weather will cooperate. An aluminum boat seems like it would be safer out there - rather than the fiberglass.
  3. thanks again. I will give it a try if the weather is ok and give a full report - hopefully a positive one.
  4. Thanks for the info. We will be departing from Caseville - about a 7 mile run to Charity. Calling for 10 - 14 winds. I'm thinking it will have to be a game time decision - we will definitely go slow in the fishing start deep and slowly work our way in. From other people I've spoke to - it sounds like a perfect place for smallies to be holding and due to the location and bottom it may have clean water which is pretty hard to find right now.
  5. I will definitely do that.
  6. Due to the chocolate milk in Lk. St. Clair - we are thinking of hitting Charity Island in Lk. Huron for the Mich. opener. Anybody ever fish Charity in early spring?
  7. I just spoke with my bros said the fishing out there is awful! There is a major Emerald Shiner spawn and the bass are gorging on them. Almost impossible to catch in Erie. They are ready to pack it up and go to the best smallmouth fishery in America - Lake St. Clair.
  8. Anybody going out around Erie, PA? My brothers - Jenga / AlThang are out right now through this weekend. Black Skeeter - should be fishing around the Cribs and Shades beach. Go over and say hi if you see them.
  9. You should do well. Looks like good weather too. I'm fishing it tomorrow (5-12)
  10. Maltese - I'm sorry to hear about your family. :-[
  11. Hey Milepost - I am going to Erie, PA - presque isle bay and nearby lake erie for Smallmouth on May 20 - 23. This will be our 2nd annual trip - last year we went in the first week of May and got our butts kicked by the weather so we pushed it back this year. Did you fish near this area? I'm not sure where exactly NE Marina is? Any recommendations for this time of year for Lake Erie. Thanks, Bill
  12. Hit Lake St. Clair recently with Jenga(bass ninja) and had over 30 smallmouths all over 3 1/2 lbs in 3 hours. My other bro had 26 smallies by himself between 8 - 11 am yesterday. Hey Maltese been out yet?
  13. Ok. I have no qualms with using live bait in order to catch smallies - however it must be acknowledged that it is lower on the evolutionary scale of bass fishing skill - very low - I'm talking amoeba stage. Now if one is just desperate to catch a smallie because he/she lacks the necessary skill, patience, and knowledge in order to land a bronze back then of course live bait is the way to go. And not to mention live bait does seem to diminish the sense of sportsmanship, and internal pride that one receives after knowing that he/she has deceived the bass into biting a lure that the fisherman presented with skill, color selection, patience, and creativity. Here endeth the rant. Agree or disagree?
  14. What is that stripe going down the middle? Channel?
  15. Any Michiganders going out on Saturday on LSC? We'll be on the mile roads, probably - possibly Selfridge area - where will you be?
  16. Thanks for all the suggestions. If the fish-n-fool knot beat the palomar in knot wars then I'm going with that. I tied it twice yesterday, and it wasn't too difficult to do. Will give it a run on the water today.
  17. Any one else have a problem with the trilene knot and fluoro?
  18. Seagur Invisx - I was fishing the other day with my bro and he was using the above stated fluorocarbon and had 3 knots either break or come undone. He was using the Trilene Knot - double loop through the eye / five twists / and back through the loop / cinch tight. Good knot for fluro or any recommendations on a better knot - palomar was knot an option. (lol) Thanks.
  19. Is Goblet's cove the biggest cove on the east side of the lake? Good place to fish? I only have about 6 hours of fishing time?
  20. Anyone going out this weekend? I only have the boat for 4 hours in the morning - other 5 days are dedicated to Walt and the family. Any general areas I should hit? I'm launching from the north side of the lake. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
  21. Thanks for the info. Let me know how you did. I'll be there on Sat. April 3.
  22. Me too. I will be down there Sat. April 3. Rented a boat. Any general areas or bait? Thanks.
  23. I'm coming down to D.W. and will fish Toho west in the next couple weeks. How is it going down there? On beds? Post spawn? Any general areas I should concentrate on?
  24. Hi. I'm looking for a ride on Toho or any other good bass lake near Disney between April 3 -8. If you are going fishing, and have an open seat send me a pm. I will get the gas, drinks, food.
  25. thanks for the suggestions
