  4. Hey guys i am looking at getting a new pair of fishing flip-flops. I am not a big shoe or sandal person when fishing during the summer. Mine are getting old and starting to hurt my back after a long day of fishing. Looks are not that too important just comfort. thanks guys.
  5. I have caught 3 fish all exactly 8lbs 3oz and all caught flipping a Zoom baby brush hog (watermelon candy). Just cant get over the 8.3 barrier.
  6. That sounds great to me. I hate hanging a jig when u are supposed to be fishing right on top of them.
  7. Has anybody tried the Hack Attack jigs from Strike King. Im not usually a big fan of SK jigs but these really look promising for the applications i like to use jigs for. What are some of the plus's and minus's of this jig??? Thanks in advance guys.
  8. This is what i dont keep in my boat. Really helps to keep stuff organized. Peg board is your best friend
  9. looks great man. good job.
  10. Me my wife and my little girl will be going to the Alabama River tourney. My little girl loves to watch fishing and she is only 9 months. turn fishing on and she is hypnotized.
  11. abu garcia revo stx st croix avid 7' mh fast u will love the revo stx i bought my fist one this year and WOW it is amazing. but the curado is also a great reel but cant tell you how good they are for that application. but a great cranking reel though.
  12. Well i finally bought a Shimano Curado 200E5 for cranking. It will be my first Shimano baitcaster. Didnt really need to spend the money but after 30+ hours of overtime this week i guess i deserve a new combo Now what rod do i want to pair with it???
  13. Man speaks truth. Jigs all the way for me
  14. I have been there a few times being in a club and tholloco not being in the mix i dont get to fish it as much as i would like. I still try to make a couple trips a year though. Its just a real pain getting on post sometimes. I have caught some really nice fish there though two or theree 4-5lbs and i caught a 6 there lastyear. There is a ditch line about 10-15 ft from the dam it drops a good 8ft and runs the length of the dam. We have caught some really nice fish there. and of course the grass. 3/4 oz tungsten weight and a good flipping hook and some space monkeys and u are in business. Just punch that thick grass and hold on. Hope this helps u fill the boat full.
  15. Where is that lake located in the fist pic??? It looks alot like the dam at Lake Tallocco @ Ft. Rucker.
  16. Bank fishing or from the boat? Where is the river located?
  17. Extremelly great words of wisdom ;D Welcome, where in Bama are u located?
  18. SK bitsy bug jigs. Just make sure to sharpen hooks b4 use. They are sooooo dull out of package but sharpen up nicely. Gotten me out of a jam alot of times.
  19. Number one is equipment. If you dont have ther right equipment not only will it be hard to deep crank but it will just flat wear you out. Get a low-geared ratio baitcast and a good 7-7.5ft i prefer glass casting rod. Next is just to remember to keep the crankbait in the strikezone as much as possible. For example if you are fishing a drop off that drops from 10-17ft with a brushpile in 17ft u need to pick a crankbait that will stay in the zone the longest a crank with at least 17ft diving will be just right. I normally use 12lb flouro due to the tree tops and brush piles on the river here in bama. Make long casts past the cover crank it hard to get it down and just slow down your retrieve. U will want to keep contact with the bottom on most situations. But vary your retrieve these fish have seen a ton of cranks the one that runs a little different might just be the ticket. Color on cranks in my opinion doesnt really have that big of an impact. Its 12-20ft down there how well can they really see??? Dark water im all about chart/blue back. Clear I like citrus shad. Early year and fall i will throw a craw color. Those are just personal preference. But take in mind the last two trips to the Alabama river for me there has been fish spitting up full crawfish in my livewell. Hope this helps I'm done blabbering. Im going fishing.
  20. Where is your next tourney. I too am from Alabama. What series do you fish in? Lmk where u are fishing i might can help you out. I fish from cooters pond to ellis on the alabama river and lay to jordan on the coosa. also eufaula. just lmk.

  22. Great post Shane. And oh btw YES THEY WILL LOSE
  23. Great Fish. I am a firm believer u can still catch great fish in shallow water this time of year. Look at Tommy Biffle he has made a career out of it.
  24. Well to start the story we were @ work and discussing a fish fry for our boss for his b-day. A co-worker said he had a pond but didnt fish alot and said we could try it out. We loaded up the boat and set sail after work. It is a nice 2-3 acre pond. Not knowing what to try and the wind blowing a little i thought a spinnerbait would put fish in the boat for sure. First cast 3.5lber. Thinking hey a little big for a fish fry but it was nice. Three casts later I caught this fish weighing exactlly 8lbs. I thought for sure with the first head shake it was 10 had a HUGE HEAD. Two casts later another 3.5 lber. I told the guy he had a huge problem. he replied what and i said this isnt a good fish fry pond. We ended up catching about a dozen in the 1.5-2lb range and YES we released all the GOOD fish. Needless to say i will be going back.
  25. So what did you switch to? I went back to 20# BPS Flouro. Power pro is goooood line just lost alot of confidence in the tree tops. still use it for my spro
