  1. Well fellas, shes about done. Got a livewell online, should be here thursday, hope to have that in this weekend. Weve held off on launching, determined not to until she was completely done...New paint, carpet, front and rear casting decks, trailer rebuild.....Whats that they say about a boat being a hole in the water...I will post up some pics when I'm done. All in all, its been a fun project, had lots of help, well, buddies standing around with a beer in their hand, putting their two cents in mostly. And since I practically stole the boat, its not been as expensive as I thought going in. I think we did ok, and if and when we trade up, I should get it all back + some. Im off tomorrow. Goin down to the pond and catch a bream or maybe two... Say hey to yer momer n nem....
  2. I grew up across the street from, and was practically raised by a Chief Conservation Officer. Long retired now. If I had a nickle for every story, and every lesson passed on by this man.... He's a long time, champion Turkey caller, and sitting around listining to the turkey tales, and listening to him call on the back porch is still one of my favorite things. He's getting old now, losing his memory a bit, gets winded easy and his legs arent what they used to be. I took him to the woods today, looking and listening for ole tom, and you could see him light up. I was a little worried about getting him off in the woods, but he nearly walked me to death. We spent two hours wandering around and I broke a sweat. He was listening and looking for sign, and getting excited about fresh tracks, it was cool. I'm taking him back next week (season opens Monday, whoo hoo) and see if we can bag him. He told me today that he wants to call one more to him, and I hope I'm there when he does. This man dedicated his entire life to conservation and protecting our wildlife, as well as our rights to get out and enjoy it like it was meant to be. God Bless him and those like him.
  3. I'd have to go with the Topwater strike too. Explosive! Violent! Oh yeah...
  4. Went in the store here in Prattville last night, TONS of stuff on sale, I didnt buy anything because Im shopping stuff to overhaul this ole alum. boat Im working on right now...anyway, couldnt stand it, went back today at lunch and picked up a couple of Van Dam SB's, and some line. They are announcing things by the hour, what wasnt on sale this morning will be for a limited time this afternoon...It was a madhouse...A MAAAAADHOUSE !
  5. Anything as fun as a good day Bass fishing......... GOOD DAY CRAPPIE FISHING ! GOOD DAY BLUEGILL FISHING ! Its a good day if youre fishing, period. Weather theyre biting or not. Nothing gets my blood pumping more than just getting ready the night before a trip. But when I'm backing down the ramp on a cool Spring morning....Loading my gear in the boat, the smell of my hot coffee, the purr of my ole Merc as I pull away, no cellphone, no work today...just me and my ole fishing buddy, Easing out of the slough and opening her up and heading up the Alabama River at dawn...(I know the hair on the back of your neck just stood up huh). Casting my favorite spook, or fluke....twitch....twitch twitch...twitch...BAM ! The water boils, and IT IS ON ... You cant beat that with a stick my friends.
  6. No...as a matter of fact, I dont need two. ;D And I need the storage space up front anyway. Problem solved..Good advice.
  7. Hey, Thanks. Like I said, I do pictures. Another question I would ask would deal with dual LW's. What would the pump requirements be? LW fore and aft, The boat is only 14 feet long, but thinking I would lke a small / medium size LW in the front and back. One pump would fill both tanks? Or would it require a special pump, or a pump for each? Both Tanks could share the same drain and overflow?
  8. Hey Yall ! New to the forum, and I must be honest, I signed up just so I could pick your brains on the adventure I've embarked on. A buddy and I recently purhased an old Fisher Marine, Alum. flat bottom boat. 14 X 5. Needed lots of work. She floats, thats about all. The boat has been completely stripped, scraped, sanded, patched, primed and painted, now I'm ready to start putting her back together. Replaceing front and rear decks, carpet, wiring etc... At some point in its life, the boat had a livewell. All that was left was some pieces of hose and a pump. I want to reinstall a livewell. Even tho I have seen them in action (Im not a complete idiot) I have no clue how to plumb one, or exactly what makes one tick...Any advice, links, diagrams (I do well with pictures ;D) would be a HUGE help. Thanks alot.
