Lol, well it is swimming again with his/her family in the lake. My wife made me put it back b/c she said it wasn't big enough to keep and seeing as it was my very first crappie catch I put it back! AHHHH now I wish I'd have kept it... :'( This was the only picture that she snapped of it while I was taking it off the hook.

I caught my very first Crappie late yesterday afternoon. It was about 13 inches long and weight between 2 1/2 and 3 lbs. I was wondering if this is the normal size for a crappie.

Thanks Trav, but one thing I've seen on here is confusing the heck out of me....everyone keeps saying set the tension of the line to match the lure you're going to throw? I am getting scared now. lol I don't understand any of this!

So now my brother has become nice and said he has a baitcasting rod/reel that I can learn on. He said it is a good reel but now my question is a lot of people are saying read the manual that comes with the reel...what if it doesn't have a manual? :-?

Ok everyone, I have tried throwing baitcasting reels and of course have the nightmarish, horrific, painful backlashes....what is the secret to casting these type of reels? I really want to learn how to use these reels but am afraid of them now.... Please help. :-[

That helps out a lot! Maybe I can hook her somewhere close or like you said in another bed somewhere. I may just have to take a detour one afternoon on my way home from work this week! 8-)

Thanks. I believe that they were scoping out bedding. There was "great bedding material" where they were circling around and two of them just stayed in one spot in the area, they wouldn't even get over a foot away from the area they were staying. What do you all think? Think they were getting set up to bed?

Okay I'm looking for good spots to fish in Central MS. I do not have a boat yet so anyone know of any good spots that can be fished from the bank? PLEASE!!??!!

Okay, a little of my history.....getting around to the answer...my father was a HUGE HUGE HUGE bassfisher. He would take me out in the boat with him sometimes but to me growing up it was very very boring, sit there all day and throw lures in the water and "hope" you caught something. After a few times I just stopped going with him. He passed away in 2007. My brother took me mid summer last year. We borrowed a friends boat and went on a larger pond. At first I was like come on I don't want to sit in the boat all day, needless to say we started catching fish pretty much right off...I caught the first one and after that my attention was hooked....lol. Try taking some snacks and drinks along, good conversation with your g/f don't get aggrivated when she asks questions or catches the first and largest fish and just enjoy her being there with you....and make it fun for her!

I was fishing yesterday in a lake in the county where I live. It was later in the afternoon and saw four l/m bass in the shallows. I could actually see the fish and whew they were huge! I tried almost EVERY lure in my tackle bag and could not get them to strike at ANYTHING! Any suggestions on what I should try if I should be so lucky to see four monsters again? Please help! :'(

What type worm would you all suggest I try this weekend? Waters here in MS are running around 50 degrees I would say and not going to get much above that with the mild weather we have coming today and tomorrow? I went last weekend and using a worm and fishing slow on bottom caught a 3 lb and 2.5 lb large mouth. What colors would some of you suggest?
