What type worm?

Featured Replies

What type worm would you all suggest I try this weekend? Waters here in MS are running around 50 degrees I would say and not going to get much above that with the mild weather we have coming today and tomorrow? I went last weekend and using a worm and fishing slow on bottom caught a 3 lb and 2.5 lb large mouth. What colors would some of you suggest?

Gene Larew 7 1/2" Salty Ringworm Cinnaman Pepper Neon Junebug Laminated  ;)

If you had success using a worm last weekend with roughly the same conditions, I wouldn't switch anything up. Keep doing what you're doing. Since you asked what worm I would suggest, I like the Berkley Powerbait 5 inch shaky worms and the 7 inch original power worms in blue fleck and black w/ blue fleck when fishing deep. Good luck!

Thanks! What about watermelon? I have had several friends suggest that color.

Yeah, watermelon is fine, any color you like is fine.

In water that cold, I'd feel more confident with a straight-worm

like a Strike King 3x Finesse worm, Gambler Ace or Zoom Trick Worm.

Color?

Any dark color such as black, brown (pumpkin) or greenish brown (green pumpkin).

i usually fish these colors:

clear water - watermelon (or a semi-translucent color)

stained - green pumpkin (or a natural color)

muddy - black (or a dark color)

berkley shakey worm, 5-7 inches, red shad
