Our secret is definitely out but it is a huge body of water and hopefully it will be able to stand up to the pressure it's getting. SMib

Matt Fly, It's not what he's saying --it's what he is doing (financing terrorists). Why can't you understand this? Smib

how often do you lie?
Is this a lie? Towards the end of a club tournament I passed by a couple of my club members. They asked how many I had. I responded one. At the weigh-in I walked up with my 5 fish limit. They did a double take and told me, "Hey, I thought you only had one!" I responded that I did in fact only have one--ONE 5 fish limit, which is the truth. I only caught 5 keepers all day. If this is lying--guilty as charged. Smib

200 Merc doesn't want to get up on plane...
I ran her again at Choke Canyon Saturday and she ran great. I changed the bulb and filter the same afternoon so I don't know which one was the fix. I'm just glad it's a done deal. Thanks again, Smib

My boat ramp complaint
:-? On Chevys and GMC's can't you push the parking brake down one or two "clicks" and that will turn the headlights out with the light switch off? I'm a Ford guy but I was told that some time ago. Smib

Boat for the money
Take a good long look at Basscat. They are #1 in customer satisfaction. They don't poor a bunch of money in advertising which means your money is going into the boat and some advertising firm. Next time you pick up a Bassmaster magazine take a look. You'll see a one page ad in there for Basscat and that's it and it has been that way for years. No, I don't work for them or have an interest in the company but I am a Basscat owner (97 Pantera II) and I love it. I've been fishing for a long time and have fished in many brands and to me they are as good as they come. Don't let all the advertising dollars spent by Triton, Ranger and Skeeter get your mind all twisted. They are all three great boats and Basscat is equal to them all. Good luck. Smib

Carolina Rig Question for the experts.
Don't be afraid to go large. I regularly throw 10.5 in worms on 2.5 foot leaders. You might be surprised at the number of 11-13 in bass that you catch on the large worms along with big bass. Smib

200 Merc doesn't want to get up on plane...
Thanks ibhawgman, cart7 and ben, I'm going to do the filter and primer bulb tonight--I changed the plugs already. If that doesn't fix it then I'll get the compression check done and have the coils and powerpack looked at. I checked the prop last night and it is a 25 pitch Tempest with no vent plugs in it. I've had the boat up to 5400 rpm doing 70 and I backed off of it. My Astro fish and ski with it's 135 Merc was a just a little bit slower than this one.....haha I've only had the boat for a month or so and have had it on the water 3 times--problem got worse each time, especiall this last time. Thanks again for all the replys, Smib

200 Merc doesn't want to get up on plane...
It's a Basscat Pantera II with a manual jackplate. I'm hoping it is the vent plugs in the prop. I honestly had not known alot about them until getting some info on line. I'm going to take a good look at the prop tonight. Any ideas you have will be definitely appreciated. I really do appreciate all that have offered info to me. Smib

200 Merc doesn't want to get up on plane...
:(Hey guys I need some ideas please, I've got a '97 Merc 200 EFI that hangs up at 3000-3100 RPM trying to get up on plane. Once the boat gets up on plane it runs outstanding . It takes 30+/- seconds for the for the nose to come over and the boat to get up on plane. I have changed the plugs and that is it so far. I'm was thinking maybe fuel filter but then why would it run good at 5,000 RPM? Or maybe the primer bulb cavitating but then again why does it run good at 5,000? I would appreciate any ideas ya'll have. Thanks, Smib

Help, removing old registration decals???
;)Go by walmart and get some Purple Power cleaner. I've been using it on my truck and trailer tires and it is an awsome cleaner. I used it just the other day to take off the registration backing left on the used Basscat that I bought. The Purple Power made the sticking backing roll of easily. Just spray it on-let if set for a few seconds and wipe it off.

Looking to buy a '96> Bass Cat 19' for 14 or less
Hey guys, If you or anyone you know is selling a clean '96 or better 19' Bass Cat please give me a holler. I'm in San Antonio and anything within an 8 or 9 hour drive is fine. I would like to have dual consoles and an EFI motor. I'll look at a Ranger or Triton also. Thank you for your time, Bobby 210-532-6100

Boat sales tax in various states
As soon as you go to register the boat in Texas after purchasing it in LA you are goinig to have to pay sales tax all over again on the boat and motor at Parks and Wildlife and the trailer at DMV. Something to think about....

Fish-N-Ski??
I've fished club tournaments with mine since I bought it new in '92 and have done very well. The back deck is huge so for you it will be no problem, plus your ride will be warm and dry (big windshield). The front deck is small. I use suction cups with velcro straps that run between them to hold my rods against the windshield. No. I have not cracked a windshield in my 14 years of fishing in it. I can only remember hitting the rods once. If you are half-way decent at casting you will not have a problem. Remember, the fish do not know what kind of boat you are in......It's the skill of the fisherman that counts...........

Where Is The Best Bass Lake?
If you guys haven't heard of Lake Amistad that runs along the Texas border with Mexico you will soon. BASS is coming at the end of Feb or early March. Those guys are going to catch a ton of big fish. It is an awsome lake. Bass Champs had a buddy tournament Saturday and the winning 5 fish bag weighed 39 pounds. I can't wait to see what the big boys do. Byron the Bachelor has caught a 10 pounder there prefishing. Smib

Ranger 394 vs. 482
:-? Have any of you guys ever ridden in a 394 Ranger and a 482? I was just wonder what the hull difference makes in the handling and ride characteristics? Any one know of any problems with the 394? Thanks for your time, SMIB

Livewells (I need your help!!)
8-) I usually let the water in my live wells drain out to about 25% capacity once or twice during tournaments, then pump in fresh water until full. I've always done this and have never lost a fish and it gets plenty hot here in Texas. I pretty much have the auto timer switch to about 30 seconds like most of the other guys.
