  1. Well the fishing was slow but we managed to do decent, just not for the bass. Hit the pasquotank river and tried the bass for awhile. Nada, nothing. Finally changed up to crappie fishing and even it was slow but still managed five good sized crappie and a big ol bluegill. Friend of mine went today crappie fishing and ended up with 12 so I guess that aint to bad.. Hoping to try for the bass again soon..
  2. I dont own a scale and am not good at guessing weights. Dont claim to be neither. I may take a guess at the weight but I will not say that a bass definitley weighs such and such lbs if I do not know for sure.
  3. Alright, was wanting to get some of your opinions on how the fishing will be after today. Fishing has been hot this whole week. Landed 11 bass on the 6th and between me and my buddy we landed 42 on the 7th. My cousins even wore the panfish out this afternoon. So heres the deal. Cold front is moving in tonight, temps are supposed to drop from upper 80s to mid 60s for highs. Rain all day tommorow. How bad do yall think this will hurt the fishing? Im sure the water will still be warm for a couple of days and I know its probobly gunna hurt the fishing some but not sure how bad it will get. Not supposed to warm up for around a week the last I checked so what do yall think? Thanks for your opinions on this..
  4. Congratulations on a very nice fish!!.. 8-)
  5. Oh and that is one of the darkest crappie Ive ever seen. Caught him in a creek that branches off the pasquotank river. What do yall think about him?
  6. They had a blast. My cousins are 8 and 12 and on spring break this week. They love to catch fish so I offered to take them bream bustin today with their cane poles. They jumped at the opportunity and we had a great day on the water. Ended up with 9 fish on corks and nightcrawlers. Bream, Crappie, Nanny Shad and the youngest one even managed to hook into a nice bass but it spit the hook with an ariel show. Was giving that cane pole a fit for a minute. Also managed to come across a durn snake that was trying to get closer than I wanted him to be to the girls so he and my shotgun had a meeting and obviously the shotgun won. Anyways, overall it was a bit windy but turned out to be a good day of fishing and they had a great time. I had a great time even though I barely fished. Just baited their hooks and took the fish off for them. All catch and release today and we really enjoyed ourselves. here are the pics..
  7. Dont feel bad dude. When I first started using a baitcaster I didnt think I was ever gunna get the hang of it lol. At times I just wanted to throw it in the pond and pick up my spinning gear but I kept at it and now Im fairly decent at it I think. It will come to you with practice but look on the bright side, atleast you got out there and tried.. keep it up man, baitcasting is well worth the time it takes to get it done..
  8. DANG, those are some huge bass. One of these days I gotta go fish some places like that. Florida or Texas or something like that. Nice bass man.. Got any weights on those fish?
  9. Alright here is the pics. The last two is the two biggest bass of the day. The second from last pic would be my best of the day and was caught on a gulp worm t-rigged. The last bass in the pics is my buddy's best bass of the day. Caught on a t-rigged zoom lizard. Here ya go.. Anybody wanna guess the weight on these last two fish? Im guessing atleast five pounds for the last one and 3lb or better for the second from last. What do yall think?
  10. Thanks for the warm welcome fellas, Im already liking this site alot. Alot of great information here about what I love to do.. Thanks again and hope yall catch a big mess of bass this summer.. 8-)
  11. Im taking my cousins (12 and 8) fishing for bream tommorow afternoon. They love to catch fish but get bored fairly easily so bream it is. Hoping to burnemup tommorow on some nightcrawlers..
  12. Ive been catching fish this week on topwater. Rapala Floating Jerkbaits and Rapala Skitterwalks. I believe alot of the bass are done spawning around here honestly because they are feeding like crazy and there are alot of smaller fish around.. Oh and by the way, was having strikes on topwater today at noon so it could happen anytime and not just at dawn and dusk..
  13. What he said lol. Nice bass. 8-)
  14. Good looking bass. Congratulations..
  15. Very nice fish. Congrats dude!!..
  16. Today was AWSOME. Arguably the BEST day of bass fishing I have had in a very long time. I worked the bank from noon till sundown and landed 32 bass. My buddy got there late and still managed to land 10 bass. A really great day of bassin. The fish where caught on the following lures. Gulp Turtleback Worm T-rigged in watermelon color. Zoom Lizard t-rigged in chartreuse color. Rapala Original Floating Jerkbait in shiner color. Chartreuse/White Spinnerbait with double willow leaf blades and white twin tail trailer. Rapala Skitterwalk in Bluegill Color. Very good day and I had a blast. Will post pics of some of the better fish we caught as soon as I can get 10 post on here. Had a blast, now Im gunna take my cousins (12 and 8) to wear some bream out tommorow. Im sure they will enjoy that because they also love to fish. Be putting the pics up soon. Yall have a good one and tight lines..
  17. Took the girlfriend to one of the local ponds that I fish and we had a blast. I managed to land 11 bass in something like an hour and a half with the biggest being about 3lbs. Fishing has definitley turned on here in NC. Most of the bass I caught where on a floating rapala jerkbait and I was fishing it on top or just under the surface. Had bass come clean out of the water trying to eat that thing. Also managed to get the 3lber on a big spinnerbait with willow leaf blades and green skirt. Caught some on the zoom fluke double rig (bubble gum color) as well and also caught a couple good fish on a rebel craw crank. Definitley the best day of bassin I have had so far in 2010 but hoping to do it again today. Cant wait to get back out there and will let yall know how it goes when I get back. Good luck to anybody else getting on the water today..
  18. Awsome video. I used to fish spinnerbaits all the time but here lately I have been geared more towards soft plastics. After watching that video however I have a feeling Ill be throwing a spinnerbait some the next time I get on the water.. Thanks again for the great video..
  19. Wassup fellas, new here and figured Id go ahead and make a post. First of all, bass fishing is my drug of choice. Aint nothing like the slurp when a bass hit that topwater bait or the anticipation of a bass about to inhale a soft plastic. Bottom line is I love to bass fish, dont matter if its in a pond, lake, river or whatever. That said, it seems like I just cant fish enough lol. Guess Ill go ahead and ask my first question. If there are any pros or tournament fisherman or fisherwomen on here are there any tips or advice you could maybe give into trying to get big into bass fishing for tournaments or trying to fish pro somewhere down the line? I currently have very little spare money and when I have it, I want to go fishing. I dont have a big bass boat, just my bass tracker pond/creek boat and a 7' v-hull that I enjoy taking in ponds as well. Dont have the most expensive tackle neither but love to use what I have. Long story short, bass fishing is my passion and if I could afford it, I would do nothing else. I live in NE NC and the best fishing in my area is local farm ponds and occasionally the pasquotank or chowan rivers. Rarely get the opportunity to go in the perquimans river so idk how the fishing is out there. Anyways I would love to be able to fish tournaments and maybe even make a lil money at what I love to do. Thanks for any help or info you could provide, it is greatly appreciated. As far as the fishing goes in my area here lately. I'm pretty sure the bass are still on their pre-spawn pattern. Fishing is slow and what bass we are catching are small (less than two lbs). Most of the fish are short and chunky so far this year. Have fished both ponds and the pasquotank river since the warmer weather began moving in and definitley doing better in the ponds. Have only boated two fish in the river so far and they where not even bass. A 9" white perch and a large bluegill. Today me and a friend of mine hit up a local pond near my house. Took his jon boat out and worked the banks hard with soft-plastics, crankbaits, buzzbaits, jerkbaits and everything else we could dig out of our tackle boxes. I had a bunch of short strikes on a t-rigged senko (chartreuse) and a t-rigged zoom lizard in purple/chartreuse. No takers though on the soft plastics. Got a good strike on a rebel crawdad crankbait but I was late setting the hook and he got off. Feel like it was a good sized bass as well. My buddy ended up landing a good sized jack pike that was caught on a big lipless crank (silver with blue back and red treble hooks). It was a good fish but that was the only major catch of the afternoon. We where drifting corks with nightcrawlers out behind us while we bass fished as well and ended up landing four good sized bluegill on those so overall a very good day of fishing, just not for catching bass. Figured Id let yall know how the fishing has been in this area. Just cant wait to get back out there and try for them bass again.. Takemeasy and good fishing.. 8-)
