  1. That's about 2 miles from my house! I don't fish there, though, so I couldn't tell you. I know since I can remember, people have fished it, but for me, somehow I can catch 'em in running water, but standing water I couldn't catch a cold.
  2. I like the guy @0:28 waving his phone like: "Hey, genius, it's not the wife... Pick it up." No, seriously, that's pretty cool. She acted like it's not that uncommon, either.
  3. I heard! I have a cousin up there near Baltimore. Everything okay?
  4. After a day, I'll say the messaging/email/facebook stuff is far superior to any of the other Android phones Verizon's seen so far. One big note is it comes with an FM tuner. I hadn't read that in the promo stuff. It's loaded with a few different things that are "Ahead of it's time" too, which will be fun to watch grow, like the DLNA stuff (Which is one of the 2 ways to share media... Looks to be pretty sweet, haven't really played with it yet though.) And of course, being a Wifi Hotspot. If you use the flashlight app, or want a REAL flash for the camera, you'll be pleasantly surprised, as the flash is RIDICULOUSLY BRIGHT. I've used the Droid, the Incredible, and now the X... And the X has 5x the flash of either of them, easily. Quite a few functions with the camera too, I'm anxious to go on top of East River Mountain here and try out the automatic panorama feature.
  5. Not as of yet. We were still using Moto Tools to bust 'em down to 2.0 and then flash a 2.1 on 'em. I know Cyanogen and koush were contemplating it, but I've been concentrating on apps. ...Btw, I went and got the Droid X today. ;-)
  6. It's actually the same bootloader protection stuff that the Droid had... Here's the basic concept though. (My Droid is rooted, overclocked, and was a member of blapkmarket, and Helped test the Droid "Steam ROM" etc. etc. Matter of fact, I made the Steam ROM background. hehe) http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2010/07/15/reality-check-modding-the-droid-x-may-not-lead-to-a-bricked-phone/
  7. ...for T-Mobile. Other than the Omnia II, we've got nothing, really. http://www.swypeinc.com for more info. The beta actually just closed last month. (Click MYSWIPE, then Swype Beta to see that.) REUTERS, 2 weeks ago: "Since its first commercial phone launch in December, Swype has already been added to about 10 phone models and is expected to be in 50 devices by the end of 2010, said Chief Executive Mike McSherry." ...but whatever. I'm so far from a T-Mobile native region, it's ridiculous. Multiple hours.
  8. (Former employee of Verizon) I currently have a Motorola Droid, love it, and plan on getting the Droid X shortly. Played with a demo, it's awesome. I'm a huge texter, and Swype (The program used on the "world's fastest texter" commercial) is available for Android phones, including the Motorola Droid and Droid X. (For phones other than the Droid X, it's in Beta, currently, but if anybody wants a copy, I'll host it and give it to you.) X also has the "MotoBlur" style widgets, although it's not technically a MotoBlur device, also, you can dynamically change the size of the widgets to make the most use of your screen's real estate. The camera has a mechanical shutter, which is an absolute new move in phone cameras. Sports/Action photography should be GREATLY improved. Big plus for those of you like myself, who take pics of the smallies and Redeyes I pull out of the New River. ;-) The Droid X is a VERY large phone, but quite thin. It is, indeed, larger than the HTC Evo (Sprint)
  9. LMAO I think we've found the secret to getting a white man to dance, at least SOMEWHAT decently... Set him on fire!
  10. Being a Death Metal musician, it would shock some to know that I'm a fan. I have to say Jason Aldean is by far one of the better new country singers. A close 2nd would be Keith Urban, but he's not exactly "country." Keith's not bad live, either.
  11. I was rooting for 3 teams this year: USA (of course), Netherlands, and Germany. (I was stationed there a few years back.) My signature sums it up.
  12. THAT'S the bait I was talking about in my thread a couple months back! Landed the biggest smallie I've caught all year on it! Believe it or not, it used to be sold at Wal-Mart 2 years ago, which is where I got mine. That thing has AMAZING action.
  13. Agreed. PROPER technique is something you'll get a lot easier/faster with an instructor. But few of them will teach you how to play Arsis or Blind Guardian stuff. ;-)
  14. Thanks! I have a variety of colors, but not necessarily a variety of colors of EACH LURE... For instance, I have a white spinner and a camo spinner. Soft plastics: green yamamotos (not senkos), pumpkin lizards, yellow worms, some silver/blue swim shads, and purple worm with red tail. (Dont ask, I just thought it looked cool. I'm sure they won't catch a cold, but it would be hilarious to prove a buddy wrong.) And some typical soft swimbaits that look like shad/small bluegills.
  15. Oh, and after reading my topic, I think it came off as airheaded/egotistical/etc. Definitely wasn't the intention, and thanks for helping out!
  16. Hmm. That seems a lot like what I'm picking up on, I think. I suppose some lures are more apt to work on certain bodies of water, as well as conditions. I hadn't considered that bass of a given body of water might be more likely to go for one over the other, I just figured they're all the same.
  17. hehe, thanks. I'll try to keep experimenting as I go along, and hopefully when the conditions are right, I'll nail them, and remember what they were. Is there really such a dramatic difference in lures for changes in conditions?
  18. I hope you're right. I just feel like 80% of my lures are fruitless...Actually, I know they are. Some types of lures I've fished on and off for a couple years, and only a select few of them have EVER produced for me... But since you guys have more experience than I do, I figured I'd ask.
  19. Sorry. I'll elaborate. Pre-spawn, but I'm guessing we're going to be spawn in the next week or so. Creek is very clear, rocky bottom, depth varies from 3ft/8ft+ As far as presentations, like I said, I'm a newbie, the spinnerbaits, I really just varied the speed, from slow enough to where the spinner was almost not spinning, to fairly quick to where the spinnerbait creates a "weighted" kinda feeling, as if I had a few fairly large sinkers on it. The worms I tried twitching across the bottom, bumping off the rocks. The jigs I pretty much do the same thing with, while sometimes trying out just slow steady retrieval with almost any of it.
  20. I've been fishing the same waters for about a month now with a friend who had told me to use 6" Zoom lizards Pumpkinseed with a Chartreuse tail... And it consistently caught 12-20 smallies/rock bass every day. (until today, but that's not my question.) So I experimented today, giving 15-30 mins or more on any OTHER lure I had, while my buddy was fishing with the same old lizard. We moved up and down to our different spots on the creek, and he caught fish, maybe half of what we would normally get (per person) Which, I'm guessing we may be on late side of the spawn where they don't eat? (I'm sure I sound like an idiot, but I'm new to bass fishing.) I caught zero fish on these lures: silver swim shad on a 2/0 keel-weighted gamakatsu, chartreuse powerworm Texas rigged. Boo-yah camoflage jig with the rattling deal. White 1/4 oz spinnerbait. craw colored 1/4oz spinnerbait. So why is it they are so picky? hahaha. Is it my presentation/retrieval speed/etc, or do some fish just only eat pumpkinseed lizards with green tails? HAHAHA. I don't know, I read all kinds of other tricks on here, but more often than not, my lure choice is fairly terrible, only those goofy lizards. Also, the same pumpkin lizard with a red tail will catch 0 fish as well. *shrugs* Any insight greatly appreciated, as I'm a total newbie.
  21. +1 to getting an acoustic before electric... Although, it CAN be frustrating learning on an acoustic, as they can be a bit harder on the fingers. Eventually you get the callouses going and the tendons/muscles up to speed, and it's all downhill from there. That being said, I learned on an electric. I was 13, though, but I think mom had about $150 in the whole thing. small portable amp, and a strat replica kinda deal. I now have 4 electrics, 1 acoustic, a rack, 3 practice amps, a dozen effects pedals, and 2 halfstacks. (Guitarists get Gear Acquisition Syndrome as well. ;-) I'd just go to a music store and pick one out you like/afford. Don't forget that you may decide later that guitar is not your thing. Don't be afraid to get your hands on one and mess around with it... Just to see which one you like better. I've been playing for 14 years, and honestly, there are some guitars out there I would never buy, just because I'd hate to play them. Now, as far as being left-handed, just learn right-handed anyways. Trust me, it's cheaper, and easier when it comes to learning. When I first started out, I was dead-set on learning left-handed. It just felt better. I was forced to learn right-handed guitar, and kept it that way. Definitely glad I did. (I'm kind of a mix-up though. fish lefty, kick lefty, write righty, play guitar righty.) I can't tell you how many traditional left-handed people I know who play guitar.......NONE of them play guitar Left-handed. I play more metal than anything else, and I, too, have played in a few Death bands... But here's a more traditional acoustic riff I wrote/messed around with this winter. Never finished it though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AytvbqUabiU
  22. Glenn: I think you're right about the virus thing, especially with the viruses mentioned and their delivery (ie the pdf name one.) That being said, the issue with messages.txt looked like a permissions one to me, as files just don't disappear. (unless someone gained shell access to the server.) I have some experience. If it's a cPanel server, and you're running linux, drill into it, and look at permissions AND OWNER of the files/your home dir. on the perms you should see lots of 644/755's. On the OWNER of almost ANY/ALL files/folders, it's your username/usergroup. (there are a couple exceptions, I think the cgi-bin is one.) Only reason I say all this nonsense is, it happens quite often. I love cPanel to death, but that comes and goes pretty well. To my knowledge, they never fixed it as of cPanel X (version 10), which is when I changed jobs. This problem occurs with many content management systems, forums, and even cPanel file manager itself. When YOU upload/download a file using FTP, you've logged in as yourself. However, if you use a Server-Side script/program such as scripts written in PHP or ASP, since the script itself resides WITHIN THE SERVER, a lot of times the "creator" of the folder/file becomes "nobody@nobody" ("nobody" is actually a user... So to speak.) The creator is also the "owner" and when the perms are set correctly, (755, 644, etc) the owner is the only person who has rights to modify/delete the files. So, you end up with certain scripts like YaBB, PHPBB, Joomla, etc. That can no longer read/write the files they need to, because the user they're logging in as isn't the owner anymore. And yes, it happens at just shy of random. Anyhow, I'm sure your host is helping you, just thought I'd give you another place to look. Seems like it's running pretty well now though.
  23. Was that over closer to where these guys are headed on the New?
  24. While we're on this subject, let's clue the newbies (such as myself) as to why a cam needs to watch the angler? I'm assuming this is a tournament? If so, what are they looking for?

What part of WV? I know one guy here that posts pretty often is up north, and I'm in Bluefield. (Mercer Co, down at the southern border) Oh, and I'm new here too, but welcome!
