  1. The Carrot Gold Stix are on sale right now for $129. I really like mine. As far as spending a lot on rods, I don't really feel that spending $50 or $500 makes it worth it. It's all about what feels comfortable to you. To be honest, my favorite rods out of all of mine are Berkley Lightning Rods ($40). I throw them more than any of the others.
  2. It can't be that massive, cause I can't see it.
  3. I don't think they make that boat anymore unless I missed it. You got a link? No, they don't make them anymore unfortunately :'( They replaced them with the Stinger series, which is basically the same style hull design, but they bumped down the max HP rating too.
  4. Welcome to the site! I'm a Mainah as well, you'll find a lot of good information and people on here
  5. Central Maine The summer has been a split so far. Just out fishing on my days off have produced a ton of fish, and a personal best LM at 9lb 14oz (bubblegum trickworm on a shakey head, and to think people laugh when I throw it ). Tournaments have been a different story. The numbers haven't been there at all on tournament days, but a lot of the bites I am getting on those days are 3-5 lbers. I've really switched it up this year as far as baits go. I've really only been fishing jigs, trickworms, and senkos. Anyday fishing, is a good day! ;D
  6. I like my glass boat, but when I'm ready for a new one I'm going to a Lowe 180w (aluminum). I've fished a few tournaments out of one and fell in love. It's actually a crappie/walleye boat, but it has tons of storage and the livewell layouts are amazing! They usually come with 150hp Merc's or Yami's. Just an awesome layout and extremely stable. Here's a pic of the deck. They come is a single console as well.
  7. I use Zoom Super Speed Craws for high action, Zoom Super Chunks when I want to tone it down some.
  8. I agree with bowfish, the 587ci is a nice unit within that price range. If your looking used, I have a 3 week old 788c I'm selling for 475 shipped. Good luck on your purchase!
  9. These prices are coming from a surplus store that bought out a bass pro shops recently that had flooded. I got a great price on my Fortrex, but not that good. That may be as good a deal on a great TM as you'll ever find. I understand not having the cash though... If you can swing buying a unit with the digital controls I recommend it. They are far more energy efficient. Good luck. I'd have to cash no problem if I didn't spend over $300 on 2 rods and buy a humminbird 788c. I wish I would have bent the shaft before hand. I'll sell the rods and the humminbird if anyone wants to help the cause ;D

  11. So, I've recently bent the shaft on my trolling motor and decided to just upgrade rather than fix it. I have a choice between a new Motor Guide Pro Series 70 lb for $334 or a new Minn Kota Egde 70 lb for $381. Just wondering what some of your opinions are as to which may be better. I like the composite shafts on the Minn Kota's but have heard some bad things about the Edge series. If I had $750, I'd be goin to get an 80 lb Fortrex but I just don't have it. Thanks, Kyle
  12. I hope this is a step in the right direction for BASS to get back to how it was before ESPN (pre 2001), as it seems ESPN lost focus on the real views and values that BASS stood for.
  13. Hey everyone on BR. I've been around here for a few months now, but haven't had a lot of time for posting. I've been around bass fishing since I was five years old (24 now), and an avid tournament fisherman. From what I've seen so far, there seems to be a bunch of great people on here with the willingness to offer advice whenever possible. Good luck to everyone on their next outing! Kyle
  14. X2. It casts a mile and outlasts most other braids I've used.
  15. I personally own both of these reels and think they are both great reels. Although, as far as throwing a crankbait, I've noticed that the Winch enables me to make a little longer cast to keep the crankbait in the strike zone longer.
  16. I wish I could have seen it. ESPN is at a disagreement with my ISP, so it wouldn't let me watch. I guess I'll be canceling my BASS Insider subscription. But, congrats to KVD for making an amazing comback throughout the season!
  17. Has anyone been having good luck on one of Strike King's Smokin Rooster's? I was sent a few packages in black/blue flake and watermelon red flake, and I'm really impressed. The action in the water is incredible, and (for me) it seems to trigger those "extra" strikes when nothing else is working.
