  1. Raider, you may want to keep in mind that any type of construction work looks like manual labor to the uninitiated. The guy does not know that he just insulted you.
  2. I'm fluent in American English and smartass. You can thank me now for replying in the former.
  3. I have two of those handles, mounted on Zillions. Daiwa knobs do not fit. They are 4bb equipped. I know the handles are lighter than the stock, riveted handles they replaced, but, with the reel mounted on the rod, the difference is imperceptible. Actually, with the the reel not mounted on the rod, the difference is imperceptible. The knobs are very flat and wide. I'm a big fan a Daiwa cork knobs. I like the smooth feel. I do not like knobs which have any texture. The Lew's knobs are very nice, in my hands. The shape is a little weird at first, but two casts in, they feel good.
  4. How about Friday or Saturday? I'm fishing with Rhino Thursday. My dance card is empty except for that.
  5. Who's to say what's not allowed. A deck of cards and a bag of change are part of my standard load-out. I'm ready.
  6. I'd be a lot more worried if he were yelling "king check" and "mate me"
  7. I have a small box full of Lake Fork flutter spoons; in light baitfish colors. Not a lot of fish caught on them, but all were very nice fish. No Dinks on that big spoon. I mostly fish this on deep structure, fished like a jig. Pull it up off the bottom and let it flutter back down on semi-tight line. Sometimes a sharp yank off the bottom works better than a slow pull. The key is to maintain contact as it drops. keep slack out of the line while the spoon is on the fall. I also have a selection of small crocodile spoons that I bought for trout. They work nicely for smallmouth. A slow lift an drop, always moving retrieve has been the best I've discovered so foar.
  8. Rattle trap. I have confidence it will catch fish. I've caught thousands on a trap. Problem is, none of them were over 10" long. I've quit carrying them around.
  9. Shoes for a woman are like rods and reels for us. There's no such thing as "enough".
  10. I always have a tube rigged and ready to go on one rod. They will catch fish anywhere, anytime. No cons for tubes. A 4" grub on an 1/8oz jighead will catch anything that swims. The only con for a jighead/grub is the exposed hook. They will get hung up. You want to try something almost nobody throws? Get some GYCB 6" grubs and T-rig "em.
  11. They work almost all year long. When they bounce off the water, they don't catch fish.
  12. Space Monkey on an Evo Shake2 jighead T-rigged Lobster Menace on a 1/16oz or 1/8oz Fin-Tech Titleshot jighead Cut-R, rigged any way Shellcracker on a keel weighted hook Water clarity determines color selection.
  13. Forgot to mention; buy Cabelas stuff in the middle of the winter. They seem to put their outerwear on sale every winter. I paid less than half price for all three of the sets I have.
  14. I have three sets of Cabelas rain gear. A Guidewear, uninsulated bibs and parka set that I can wear up to about 75 degrees. A Rain Suede bibs abd parka set that's good down to about 20. and an MT50 bibs and parka set that I can't wear unless it's less than 20. Notice I said bibs and parka for every set. Don't get a pants and jacket set. Unless, of course, you like fishing with a cold, wet arse.
  15. In the entire history of the civilized world, no wife has ever killed her husband while he was cleaning the house.
  16. I was truly impressed by that admiral. I could not have responded as calmly as he did. I can't post here what I would have said.
  17. Hey Mac, I'll go fishing with you. I don't have any skills either.
  18. Those little crappie reels are bot much more than line holders. trying to learn to cast with one of them will be frustrating at best. You might check out a BPS Extreme Lite reel. Small, light, and about 80 bucks, if memory serves. I just serviced one for a local guy, and it's not a bad reel, for the price. It's not going to last him for 20 years, but it would make a good learning tool.
  19. I have that rod, but do not have any tome on the water with it. I have two other ML rods; an LTB 6'9" ML-XF, and a Kistler Helium LTA 7' ML-??. No action is stated for the Helium, but I'd call it a mod-fast action. No comparison between the LTB and the Tatula. Those are completely different rods. The Tatula and the Helium are very similar, to my hands; the Tatula being a bit more powerful. More like a ML+, while the Helium is what I would call ML. I've tested the Tatula with a 1/4oz practice plug, and that weight loads the rod nicely. I'm reasonably certain the rod will load effectively down to maybe 1/8oz. I'll have a report when I get home from the RoadTrip. I will be using the rod for small tubes; finesse size tube, 1/0 light wire EWG hook, and 1/16oz internal weight. I have a tuned up Alphas, spooled with 8lb test mono, mounted and ready to go. I'm hoping this will be my new light weight tube rod. If it doesn't shine for that, I have another small crank rod.
  20. I would like to ask him two questions. How do you find your way home? Who do you pay to water you?
  21. This is couple of years old, but I've just seen it.
  22. If I send some baits your way, you are sure to be infected with monkey-itis; just like the rest of us. Be careful what you ask for.
  23. Like it or not, fishing is a blood sport. You're gonna kill a few. Get used to it. And eat the ones you kill, when legal.
  24. You are right about that. I'm afraid tuning reels will be the last addiction I give up.
