  1. By the way, Sam; you should change the topic title to get more attention. May I suggest the following: "Space is a vacuum because Shimanos suck".
  2. Good topic Sam. As one of the resident old farts, I endorse this idea. My wife always knows where I'm fishing, who I'm with, and when I'm coming home. However, I have never provided the level of details suggested by A-Jay. To tell you the truth, I've never even considered including such details. But then I've never been involved in a rescue of any kind. I assume such experiences would alter one's perspective. And, this is one perspective I appreciate hearing, now at the beginning of a new fishing season. I bought a yak last year, and plan to use it a lot more this year, so this is timely advice. I think I'll be giving my sweetie a little more info this year.
  3. General Siebert? General? I would have guessed he wouldn't make it much past buck private.LOL
  4. I'm pretty sure that gear set will not work in a TD-Z. It will work in a Sol.
  5. Just swapped gear sets in three of my Alphas to the new PX-R 6.8:1 gears. I left one as is, for small crankbait duty. For any with an Alphas or Sol, this is a very nice upgrade. Went from about 21" per crank to between 25 and 26" per crank. I haven't had them out on the water yet, just backyard casting, but this cures the only complaint I've ever had with the Alphas. What I did not expect was how much smoother the new gear set feels. May be the smoothest gears I've felt in a reel. I'll have to wait until I get a fish on the line to say that for sure, but at this point in time, I am impressed.
  6. I'm gonna use some of those! LOL
  7. I use HP Quick Clip weights for this. Longer and thinner, like some dropshot weights, with an angled loop. The weight can be rigged on either end of the tube.
  8. I will bring some just for you. LOL
  9. Be good to see you again, Lee. It's been a while.
  10. I rarely fish a jig heavier than 1/4oz. My first pick for a t-rig is a 1/16oz pegged steel weight.
  11. After a good suggestion from my significant other, I have revised the menu for the wednesday evening meal. Sandwich bar: roast beef, ham, sliced cheese variety, bread variety, lettuce, onions, condiments Fruit tray: whatever looks good when I go shopping Cheese tray: smoked gouda, havarti, sharp cheddar slow cooker full of my house special soup misc: crackers, chips, dips, pickles, olives a mixed case of wine a cooler full of beer. I bought some sampler packs and other beer on sale about 5 weeks ago and forgot about it. I'll put all that will fit in a cooler and bring it along. I plan to have it all ready by 7pm. Location to be determined that day. If weather permits, we'll just meet at the cabin I'm staying in, We can drag a couple of picnic tables from adjacent cabins, and all will be good. If we get weather unsuited for outside dining, I'll have to get with the park folks and make other arrangements. I've done just that in the past, and have had no problems finding a place to meet. I've had about 5 people let me know they will be there. There are about 20 registered. I'm hoping all 20 will be there wednesday evening, and am planning on feeding 20 people. Do me a favor and let me know if you will not be there. Most of the supplies will be purchased tuesday evening, so the perishable items will be at their best. There's still plenty of time, but please do let me know your plans. IN the past I have not asked for any cash. This year I'll have a "donation" bucket set out for all who wish to give a little something. With Glenn's permission, all proceeds will go to his Tackle the Storm Foundation. I will not be keeping any of the donations; all cash collected goes to Glenn.
  12. I've been tempted to try out some of my wife's silk undies. They're supposed to be really comfortable. So far, I've been able to resist the urge.
  13. OK, you lunatic, I'll do it next year. I'll get up, go outside, and write my name in the snow. I'll know if it's gonna be a good year if I can write my entire name. Anything less will mean buckle up suckers, it's gonna be a bad day.
  14. Ah Ha said the blind man to his deaf wife as he picked up his hammer and saw.
  15. Oh no, you don't. If nominated, I will not run. If elected, I will not serve. Besides, getting up and finding the head is enough of an accomplishment for me most mornings. You want me to go outside, in cold weather, and find my shadow?
  16. Uh, what's a YOLO?
  17. I'm about 50 miles south-east of Springpatch. And, yeah, we got about 18". Spring has sprung, my achin arse!!!

    Q. Why do they cal it golf? A. Because (****) was already taken. (****) insert expletive of your choice, they are all appropriate.
  19. Looking out at the 12+ inches of very wet snow in my back yard, I'll answer the original question by saying; winter apparently ends sometime after spring begins.
  20. We have about nine inches on the ground, and still coming down.
  21. Hey mon, you beat me to the punch LOL
  22. The scotch monkey recommends Johnnie Walker Double Black
