Where in the potomac do you go?

Hi guys, I see there are some NoVa anglers here. I wanted to ask for some help as I am new to the Sterling area. What are good lakes, rivers, creeks in the area to do inshore fishing? I know the potomac is right here but never fished it as I do not know where I can go. I know a couple of ponds in the reston area -- Audubon and Thoreau. I have been to Thoreau but was really disappointed how shallow it was. The d**n area is barely a foot deep! And the rest of the lak seems to be private with houses all around. I am still to go to Audubon.. Also, I went to lake fairfax and Burke lake and both have not produced much for me. Maybe I need to be more persistent but still trying to figure out were the fish is. As for the potomac, I have been to great falls park few years ago and from what I remember the tourist trails were pretty high above the river. Where in the potomac can I go to fish that is close to sterling? I see on the map Nova Regional park, Riverbend park, and Algonkian park. Are those any good? Also since they are parks I am assuming they close at dusk, right? I am limited to shore fishing as I do not have a boat, but I am looking for a new personal best bass Any help would be much appreciated!

I'd say don't go fishing till like 7pm. After that it gets little cooler and better chance for bites, especially with slow moving baits.

I myself am very dissappointed with Burke lake. I have not been going too many times, and I am doing offshore, which means I get to the spots where pretty much everyone fishes... I am yet to go to the potomac. Nice, nice catch RedneckSteve! Mind sharing where in potomac do you go?

Have any of you bought/tried this kit? It is available in walmart for 10 bucks. I am tempted to buy it because i need worms and the price is very good. Not sure if the worms are good and if they will catch bass tho.

Using spinnerbaits you almost do not need to set the hook ) The fish hooks itself I love setting the hook feeling when fishing worms.

Before rain and during the rain (if it is light rain) I have had great success.

Can't go wrong with a texas rigged worm

Where you see baitfish, that's where the bass is too!
