bass mortality rate
Survival of bass fry is very, very, very low. Thousands and thousands of eggs might hatch and 1 or 2 might make maturity in most instances. Once they are off the bed, they will eat each other if they think they can swallow the other. On the bed?? The boils might be the bass chasing off (or eating) intruders not eating their young.

Anchor's
Jetboats outnumber propboats in the northeast??????????? Proboats will outnumber jet boats many, many thousands to 1. I have only seen 1 "jet" boat ever in NE. I can see the advantages for some applications though.

What...No Eggs?
In nature there is always variation. In all species there are some individuals that do not actively spawn (reproduce). Incidence is low from what I've read but it is possible. Could be an "arnold" type male too. Also, depending on where you are it might have already layed the eggs and just wasn't as aggressive at cleaning so there were no obvious frayed tail?

A Muskrat in the Pond
I agree the biggest concern would be if you have an earthen man made pond with a raised berm. They will burrow into the berm to den and can cause problems over time with the structrual integrity of the dam. If there is no berm then they shouldn't hurt anything important.

where to buy black rubber matting for front deck
BPS, Cabelas, and your local hardware type store carry a rubberized paint that you can paint on a surface to give it a rubber finish.

why do people hate this guy?
I agree Charlie Moore needs to go, that show is unwatchable. I think Zona and Ish would be the combo for Basscenter, but Velvick is OK.

What in the world is this?!?!?!?!
American/common eels are not born in fresh water, they are a catadromous species. The adults migrate to the Sargasso sea to spawn, then the young migrate back to brackish and to fresh water to mature for a few years before the cycle is repeated.

g3
I bought a G3 167c last winter and it's a good boat. It's well constructed and well laid out. Came with a 40 hp Yamaha engine. It was reasonably priced and much less than most fiberglass boats.

Dead fish??
Best bet is a combination of cold water stress, wounds, and stress from being caught, ie, fought, removed from water, etc all played a part and as a whole, where more than the fish could handle.

How did you catch your HUGE smallmouth?
Largest I ever caught was 6 lbs, and get this- it was caught on a 1/8 oz yellow rooster tail spinner. We were fishing for crappie. Talk about a bonus fish.

How many of you actually fillet these things...
A 2 1/2 pound bass should give you a real nice slab of meat. Sounds like your fillet technique needs work. A fillet on a fish that size should be nice and thick, not 1/8 inches. You need to find a good diagram for a better fillet technique. Briefly- with fish on side, cut straight down right behind gilcover until you hit back bone. Turn knife 90 degrees and cut along backbone and thru ribs. when reach tail leave skin attacheds. flip slab over and with the knife sideways (almost flat to surface of table-starting at tail, slide knife through flesh but not through skin and slide knife forward. then trim off ribs etc. It's hard to describe but works great with practice. I don't keep many bass but smaller ones 12-13 will taste much better ( and are easier for the fishery to replace) than a larger fish. Perch and crappie are the best!
