  1. Yep, that's the scale for me ;D
  2. Thanks Big O, I'll give Falcon Lake Tackle a call as the time approaches.
  3. I'm looking at fishing Falcon for the first time this coming December and I'm curious about how that lake tends to fish at that time. Are the fish already in a pre-spawn pattern, moving to flats, etc or are the bulk of the big fish still out deep in a winter pattern? Any help appreciated!!
  4. Leave the ones that come already installed, the others are heavier and you likely won't need them. Start out with 3 on and 3 off and tweak it from there. You're going to LOVE that Core!!
  5. Never thought of that, but given the amount of hormones, antibiotics, etc that most livestock are injected with, it makes perfect sense... : Really? Really?? Don't believe everything you read. So, did you have anything to contribute to the thread, or did you just stop by to be a smartass?

  7. I've been trying to get info on the Lake Fork lines myself. The "Fluorohybrid Pro" in particular. Hopefully we can hear from someone who's used them...
  8. I'll have to give some of the attractant a try the next time I place an order with ***...
  9. Who makes XPS? I believe it's rebranded Toray... wrong , seaguar makes it .......... : btw, BPS's XPS line is not even close to Toray's line Well, I guess it depends on who you ask... http://www.tackletour.net/TTForums/viewtopic.php?p=307884 http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/4444554/Re_Whats_the_best_fluorocarbon#Post4444554
  10. I disagree. There is no one at Loomis who can tell me whether or not I've abused or misused my rod because they haven't been there to witness it's use. Unless there's a "black box" on a Loomis rod that I'm unaware of, all they can do is offer a "best guess" or an opinion regarding what caused the rod to fail. IMO, it should be the companies burden to prove a product was misused, not the other way around. But, here's where that "faith" comes in. In my experience, warranty departments are far more loyal to the companies bottom line than they are to their customers. With all due respect, it would be unfair of you to expect a Loomis customer to take it on "faith". I understand the changes that have been made are a done deal and we better get used to it, but changing the rules in the middle of the game was/is a little tough for some of us to swallow.
  11. First of all, I've never had any experience with the Loomis warranty department, so I'm not qualified to speak on it. But, let me say this, the "warranty" department for most companies/corporations seems to have devolved into a state of "offer a lifetime warranty and refuse to back it up" by finding ANY excuse to refuse the claim. The customer in that case is then in a position to "prove" otherwise. This is what people are afraid of with Loomis. Let's say I break my GLX on the hookset and I send it in to be replaced under the lifetime warranty. Loomis looks at it and denies the claim based on their "evaluation". How do I "prove" that the break happened on the hookset and the rod hadn't been abused? IMO, people have less of an issue about the extra $50 for the Xpeditor than they do the FEAR of being denied for a warranty claim.
  12. Modern baitcasters, IMO, are not that tough to learn. If your having that hard of a time, try changing the line out and make sure its set up right (eg brakes & spool tension). Start out with the spool tension set so the bait just slowly falls when you hit the button. It will cost you a little distance, but will help keep backlashes down while your learning. As you progress, you'll use your spool tension less and your thumb more. Hang in there!!

How much are you looking to spend? For the price, the Salter-Brecknell are tough to beat. I picked up a barely used 55-lb model off of fleaBay for under $40. You can get them new on Amazon for around $70. http://www.salterbrecknell.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=546&category_id=8&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1&vmcchk=1&Itemid=1
  15. For information on pond management, there is no better resource than pondboss.com Pick up the book "Basic Pond Management" by Bob Lusk (aka "The Pond Boss") and give a a thorough read through. The forums over on pondboss.com are a great place to get specific questions answered.
  16. I asked the same question a few months ago and the name that kept coming up was Tom Redington. He came very highly recommended and so far he's been phenomenal responding to emails and answering questions. I'm actually booked for a couple of days in September and assuming things go as well as I expect, I'll be booking more days in the spring.
  17. I want to learn this knot so bad, but it never comes out neat and tidy like it's supposed to. How many wraps are you using each way for say 10 lbs fluoro to 50 lb braid? I'd go with 6 or 7 up, and 6 or 7 down. With say 70# braid and 20# fluoro, 4-5 each direction is sufficient. x2. It's easier if you wrap once, then move your fingers up to pinch the wraps. Like this: Warp, move and pinch, wrap, move and pinch. Once you start going back down, hold the tag end of the leader and the leader itself (hold it from the opposite end) and just do the same thing again. It's easy once you do it a few times. I have done it enough that I can tie flouro to flouro (for my fly fishing tippet, which it 3 lb test.) It's harder with two flouro lines, because the wraps want to pop out and go straight again! I'll keep working on it... I know I'm due for my "ah ha" moment anytime with this knot ;D Thanks for the help

  19. Yep. Great, thanks. I'm finding myself using braid more and more often. I usually just use a mono leader, but if this knot works well, I may give fluoro another shot.
  20. Anyone use this knot for fluorocarbon leaders?

  22. I'd like to read the article as well. Thanks in advance!!
  23. I have one of these, which is very similar to the Bill Dance hook remover. Works great!! http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10213376____SearchResults
  24. They've added it under the old Curado, just click "Specifications" and you'll see it.
