  1. I don't have the flippin' stick, but I do have 4 savvy rods. They balance very nicely with my Lews Tournament Speed Spool reels. Hootie
  2. My guess would be yes, for sure on the Big O. Unless they are reproductions. Fred Young is the Big O man. The original. I wouldn't remove them from their packaging. Hootie
  3. That is exactly where my BPS money goes. Probably more than I even make. I am retired, and that was the very reason I wanted to work at BPS, to feed my fishing addiction. It works out real well for me. Hootie
  4. Usually a mix, some % off on some items, some sale prices on regular items, and almost always some special purchase items. It can be a real find if the stuff you have been wanting, falls in one of those categories. Also a lot of guys find stuff they may have wanted to try, but didn't want to pay full price, but, hey, now that it's on sale, I'll give it a shot. It is always a lot of fun just watching and enjoying the excitement. The sale runs from Feb. 22, thru March 10. I work at BPS, so I look forward to seeing you....... uh... that is if you're going to the one in Cincinnati......lol Hootie
  5. No problem. You're quite welcome. Glad I could be of assistance......lol Hootie
  6. Wow!!! Denny Brauer tore"em" up!! Hootie
  7. 4.9oz., $499.00 That's a $100.00 an oz!!!....to rich for my requirements. Hootie
  8. That's the answer....lol Hootie
  9. A lot of my old baits are so old and nostalgic, that I quit using them, for fear of losing them. Might sound silly, but that's just who I am. Hootie
  10. What would you do if suddenly, Shimano started making lures......lol I eagerly await your response. Your old buddy, Hootie
  11. Just sent them an Email. Thanks a bunch, Hootie
  12. Bass Pro Shop XPS. I guess I have a mystery. Hootie
  13. I used KVD L&L on my new spool of flouro, and it turned a dirty yellowish brown color. I have used it on copolomer, i.e., Yozuri hybrid and never had this happen before. Clear line, by the way. Anyone ever experience this? Hootie
  14. A little off topic, but, who is E2? Hootie
  15. I hate to dispute you, but yes, there is a bait monkey. You see, I work part time at BPS, and I can assure you, I have seen the bait monkey leading guys around by the hand. Heck, I even seen him leading one guy around by the ears. They usually have lists 2 pages long in their hot little hands. Kinda like the wife's grocery list. And believe me, that darned monkey wont let them out of the store until that list is filled. They will start with a basket, and usually end up with a cart, They, and the monkey will sometimes get irate, if we don't have something on that list. I gotta tell ya, it is truly a sight to behold, watching the bait monkey do his thing.....love it!! You must believe in the bait monkey, if you ever expect to grow in this wonderful sport of Bass Fihing. Hootie

  17. This is, without a doubt, the best, updated bass fishing forum on the internet. Like the OP said, I too, visit other forums. Sometimes you check back, and there hasn't been a new post added in days. This forum never sleeps.........I LOVE "DIS" PLACE!!!............ Hootie
  18. Arrogant, arrogant, arrogant.......love it!.....lol Hootie
  19. Mattlures made a good point. I've often wondered if Pro X is really, in his private fishing, using an Okuma reel, or his he secretly borrowing Shimanos off of LMG.......lol Hootie
  20. I find myself watching the hands, what kind of retrieve are they using. Yes I agree, the whys and hows are more important to me than the what with. I love to watch Bill Dance, but no thank you Bill, I'll choose my own line....lol Hootie
  21. That's the good stuff. Hootie
  22. Just wondering how many of you guys listen to the pros recommendations for purchasing any kind of tackle. In my own personal opinion, for myself, the pros have absolutely NO credibility when it comes to my choices. One reason, and one reason only. They CANNOT be objective when making tackle suggestions. They have to promote the guy who's writing the check. ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with that, I would do EXACTLY the same thing. A paycheck is a paycheck, and a job is a job. Example, one pro last year. was pushing Kistler rods, this year it's Okuma. When I am looking to by a new reel, rod, etc., I come here for honest user opinions, or Google user reviews for whatever I am thinking about buying. Actually, I'll do the same thing for just about any major purchase. Google user reviews. just wondering if any of you guys feel the same way. Not criticizing any pro for anything. I watch them all and enjoy all the shows. Hootie
  23. X2, no, X10 I have 4 PQ's and 3 JM's. Hootie
  24. That would be my choice of all the $100.00 rods mentioned. Sometime back, I ordered a rod online, a Falcon Lowrider. Qhen I got the rod, I didn't like it at all. If I had handled it in a store, I wouldn't have bought it. However, after fishing with it, it has turned out to be one of my absolute favorite rods. Actually using a rod will tell you a different story than simply flailing one around in the store. Incidently, I think this rod runs around $120.00. Hootie

Lots of good info. I can't wait to get started. The lake is a county park lake. It opens March 15. Hootie
