  1. Caught this one and a few smaller ones in one of the coves down by the dam last weekend. Caught on a 6' rib worm in about 10' of water off trees. https://picasaweb.google.com/109399777599788507446/Fishing?authkey=Gv1sRgCO2JnK77k6v9Pw#5642573190209808338 Also suggest working the rip rap in the upper portions of the lake (near the Eagle creek access and bridges) Good Luck
  2. If the line got wrapped around the prop and the boat was moving away from him at high speed the rod and reel would have been gone very quickly (if the drag was set too tight). Totally plausible
  3. I'm curious....for all you guys using two hands, do you happen to also "switch" hands? I really rarely see the need to use 2 hands and I'm wondering if it's related to casting with my dominant hand already.
  4. Yes...that's a pretty sweet deal. Go back to the yard sale and buy EVERYTHING left fishing related!
  5. Only time I use two hands is when crankin trying to get the best distance possible. 90% of the time one handed, but that might be because I cast with my dominate hand and reel with my week hand (lefty) like everyone should
  6. Cast past your target (for me this is usually over or past a log) slow and steady retrieve, then kill it over the spot you think holds bass, pause a few seconds, then back to the slow and steady retrieve. I've tried the twitch/pop method as well, but prefer the above method.
  7. I own both baits and if you can only have one, pick the 4" as they are easier to work IMO. Both baits have their place, but the most frequently used for me is the 4" in either Black or Baby Bass.
  8. I love mine....the only con is the price. Extends easily, stores well and no tangle netting. Just need to catch more big fish to put it to better use!
  9. No problem, wish I had realized I was tying it wrong before I lost a few cranks and worm rigs. Glad to save someone else the trouble
  10. The Albright "special" is the only knot I've been successful with that is small enough to meet my standards. Pay attention to how you wrap the line, when I was breaking them I was overlapping the wraps, a little focus on that area and now they no longer break when sinched. Start wrapping furthest away from the loop and work your way back. I use 12lb floro for my leader.
  11. Nice looking boat! I'm sure you will get many years of enjoyment out of it!
  12. For Gnats try vanilla extract....works great for me.
  13. Tatsu, I didn't believe there could be that much difference between it and all the other floro I've tried, but I was wrong. It's just that much better than everything else.
  14. Specifically for plastics i'd spend more on the rod than the reel. In that price range I'd look for a used Loomis rod and pair it with a BPS Pro Qualifier. However you'll like the Curado if you choose to go that route, I have several and like them all.
  15. I personally would not consider that a good price for a 5HP with issues. If it was in perfect working order, then it would be worth the money. I'm guessing you can find one w/o issues for about the same price. If you are set on buying this one, I'd offer no more than $100 for it the way you've described, but again I would personally walk away.
  16. This is 100% dead on accurate. For contact fishing it's the rod, for power fishing it's the reel. I personally like rods more than reels, but I do have some expensive models of both rods and reels. I personally think I get more "enjoyment" out of premium rods if I could only pick one.
  17. Just stick with Suffix for your braid needs. I don't mind power pro either, but I prefer Suffix for all rsetups that use braid. I gave up on both Spiderwire and Fireline a few years ago when I discovered the advantages of the higher quality braids
  18. Wow! The mobile version is a MASSIVE improvement! That alone is worth the upgrade IMO.
