Best line for jig / worm fishing
Agree... In the mostly shallow, weedy lakes in Central and So Fla braid with a floro leader just works the best. Mike

Which plastics do you burn through the most?
Zoom Brush hogs, Skinny Dipper

A BASSclary Review : Bass Pro Shops XPS Stalker Tackle Bag.
I saw that in the new catalog. I'm thinking of that one with the front loader [kinda like that idea] or the Browning. They both have the tool storage on the outside which would be kinda handy. Mike

Tying leader to braid
Well... Maybe then my problem with the 20# floro leader is the 8 wraps. And the 6 wraps of the 20# braid useing the uni to uni. It seems that either you guys use the Alberto knot with the same lb test line I use or fewer wraps with 1/2 the test floro rateing...Hmmmm.... Thanks Guy's Mike

Do you use line conditioner?
I use the Ardent Line Butter, only because the KVD product was sold out and I had a 2 day tourn. coming up out of town and I needed something. Anyway, It's ok, it leaves an oily film on the water on the first cast but it does help on my spinning reeels. Mike

What tackle bag?
Anybody use the KVD bag? I kinda like the idea of the side access for the boxes. Mike

Tying leader to braid
Thanks Guy's I've been tying with 6 of the 20# braid and 8 of the 20# floro because I thought it needed it, because the braid was slicker!!! No wonder the knot get's hung up sometimes!!!! I'm gonna try that Alberto and get some 10# floro before I go out again. Thanks Fellas Merry Christmas to you all. Mike

Tying leader to braid
Guy's I've read the 2 past threads about useing a mono/floro leader for finesse presentations with braid which I do. On my 2 spinning rods I use [6'6" mhf] I have 20# Power Pro and 20# Floro leader tied with a uni to uni. 2 questions... *Do you think the floro leader is too thick? *How many wraps of each do you recommend? I'm sure they shouldn't be the same, I just want to make sure I'm doing it right. Thanks Mike

Braid on spinning reels opinions
I also use 20# Power Pro on my 2 6' 6" MH spinning rods. Since I'm a co -angler, and have to bring everything with me, I rig one for weightless plastic and the other weighted. I use a 20# floro leader for both. Mike

What # leader
I sure will. We were back there in Aug. and found the same thing. I'm gonna try to talk my boater into trying around the little island first thing with top water especially if it cools off a little bit. Then hit the reed lines. Mike
-
What # leader
Thanks Guy's. I'm close to what you guys use for the same reasons... Abrasion and helping the braid to sink. I changed out the 25# floro leader for 20# this morning. Our next tourn is Sat on Lake Istopoga here in Fla and I'll give it a try. Thanks Mike

WalMart $1 Spinnerbaits - Anybody Use 'Em?
I think Cat if exactly right... If it catches fish who cares where you get them. Mike

What # leader
Guy's... I use a 6' 6" mh / fast spinning set up for soft plastics in the mostly stained lakes in Central and So Fla from approx 1 ft to maybe 3-4 ft of water. I use 20 # power pro with a 25# floro leader tied useing a uni to uni. My question is the floro leader to heavy? When you use a leader as was discussed in a previous thread should it be heavier than your main line? Thanks Mike
-
Worm Binders???
As a co angler I have to bring everything with me, just taking a few soft baits with me is a real disadvantage. I bought one of those binder's at BPS with the plastic rip lock bags but the bags keep ripping and eveything keeps falling out when I flip to another bag. Other than carrying a separate box with me along with the tackle bag I which I don't want to do because some of the boaters in my club get a little surly if I bring more than bag and rods, I'm at a loss. When do you peg your T-rigged and why?
To the guys who peg... How far up the line or at the hook? Thanks Mike

What color lens's do you guys wear? I'm told that the amber is good for sight fishing and in all weather conditions. How do you clean them without scratching, especially on the water? Thanks Mike

zara spook
In my opinion, if you can master the "walking" there is NO top water lure better than the spook. Mike

Copoly?????
I have a spool of 12# P-Line that I've had for about 3 yrs now that I've been thinking of trying. Quick question...Does Co Poly float like braid and mono or sink like floro? What type of fishing do you use it for? Thanks Mike

Trick Worms
Thanks Fellas I used a black trick worm this weekend at a small pond where my son lives in GA. I T rigged it and threw weightless. I noticed it didn't float, but sank VERY slowly... Got 3 that averaged maybe 2 lbs each with the first 5 cast's! Switched to a fluke...nothing Back to the worm got another! Yep, I see what you guys are saying. Thanks Mike

Trick Worms
Thanks again guys I'm gonna remember this!

What would you suggest??
Also, any advise on what and where to use the 7' 6" M/L 8-17 line Shackspere rod? Mike
-
What would you suggest??
It does help Thanks... The rod says farther up the shaft that it's Med. Doesn"t say MH which I thought it would be given how stiff it is. The thickness of the but end is about the same as other MH spinning rods I have, and also thinner than a 7' 0" MH/Fast and 7' 0" MED/Fast Shimano spinning rods I have now. The taper is a gradual decline from butt to tip. I guess each manufacturer does thier own thing. Anyway, now that we know it is med action with probably a x fast tip, does that change your line type and lure selection advise? I really appreciate your help fellas!! Mike
