  1. As a tourn co -angler I'm usually at the mercy of the boater as to where, when and for how long we fish an area. Some boaters will ask if I want to stay a little longer or even ask if I had any suggestions. Then there are a few who won't move for nothing! One boater will stay in an area for 5 hours not moving more than 20 yds in any direction. When i bring up about maybe we should try somewhere else his answer is allways the same..." Nah, we'll wait a little longer, they'll be here". Mike

  5. Try useing a nail weight also. You can buy them in different weights or use a small finishing nail. Mike
  6. Good point. I just felt that with the different ratio reels I have they may be better suited on a different rod for the different techniques. Thanks for the reply's Mike
  7. Thanks I have 7' Fenwick m/m spinning that I use now for cranks, a 6'6 m/f baitcaster for wacky rigs, shakey heads, flukes etc. Just wondering if I needed to change things around. Thanks Mike I
  8. Guy's We've talked a lot latley about rod action, power, length, brand etc. for all the different techniques, which makes this site so valuable. I'd like to ask about matching up reel speeds.... In my case I got my first 7;1 reel [bps carbon black] I'm confused as to what to use on which rod I have, so if you would be so kind to help me match up. What I have now... *Mudhole blank custom 7' 6" MH/F pitching rod w/ Quantum Accurist PT 6:1 / 20.5 ipt - 20# floro *Allstar ASR 7' 3" jig rod w/ BPS extreme 6:41 / 28 ipt - 50# braid *Falcon heavy 7' FC-6-17 "Carolina Lizard Dragger" [has rather moderate action thinking about for top water] w/ Johnny Morris Sig 6:31 / 28 ipt - 15 # Mono Shimano Compre 7' MH/F [i'd like to use it for spinners] BPS Carbon Black 7:1 / 31 ipt [new reel, no line] I have no problem changing lines and combo's if you guy's think the first 3 should be changed. Thanks for any advise Mike
  9. I use Seagar Invisx.. I think it's reasonably priced but you may find another brand a little cheaper. But a wise man once said.." You get what you pay for" Mike
  10. I got a 7.1 yesterday. Now all I have to do is figure out what rod to put it on for which technique, as i've never used one with that ratio before. Mike
  11. X2 I have the 2500 on a 6' 6" mh/f with 20 # braid I use for soft plastics.
  12. Thanks guy's... I was just wondering, as I haven't heard about that rod. You're right Brian, we have a tourn coming up next weekend I'll grab it and try it out next week on all 3 and see what happens. Mike
  13. Hey Fellas, A member of my club has a one of these he will sell for 50.00. It's a 5- 6 yr old, 7' FC-6-17 Heavy 3/8 - 1oz / 12-25 line. I don't do much caroloina rigging if at all but I was thinking about useing it as a spinner bait, trap or jerk bait rod. I'm asking because It has a more moderate tip that my flipping stick or jig rod which are both MH. Has anyone ever used one? and if so do you think it would be a good rod to use for 1 or all of those 3 techniques, and what line do you use? Thanks Mike
  14. It's not what you know...it's who you know. The saddest thing in life is wasted talent. To live in the hearts of the ones we leave behind, is not to die
  15. I have 3 yr old 7' MM Techna AV spinning rod that I originally wanted as a crank rod but it's pretty soft for that. However, I love the feel of that rod so much I allways have it with me. Mike
  16. The nails work great. I've found myself useing them more and more. You can use finising nails with or without the ribs or buy the the one's at your local shop. I like 'em because you can make the bait fall in different ways if you want instead of just nose down. The only drawback is that if you keep moving it around on the same plastic be very carefull not to rip the plastic too much. Mike
  17. I've found that if I pull on the main line to just snug it down then tighten by pulling on tag, will make for a much better knot. especially on braid. Mike

It works great. They don't dry out or stick together. And it doesn't seem to affect any sent that is impregnated or that is topical out of thier bag that I noticed. Mike
  19. One of the rods that don't get mentioned a lot is the Fenwick line. If you can find a Techna AV consider it also. You may be surprised. Mike
  20. I've learned more about equipment, tactics etc in the 2 years I've been logging on than I have in 40+ years of trying to teach myself. The folks here are allways ready with tips and opinions regarless how many times a question may have been asked previously. Just keep reading... Mike
  21. Ditto... My problem is I tend not to change to quick. Mike

Use a little KVD line and lure on them. Mike

As a co-angler its much more convientent to put 'em in a box, and store them in my tackle bag, instead of carrying bag's in another bag. Space is at a premium when you're in the back. Mike
