Shimano Corudo 301E
Do you have both CU 200e and CU 50e? I could not imagine you would say the 200e is better since the 50e cast further and retrieve smoother. Curado 200e is actually a disappointment on the curado series. The older Curado 100 B is even better than the CU 200e. The only application/time and place that it would be better than the 50e is when you need a backup reel in the tackle box. Don't get me wrong but I still like my CU200e....... in my tackle box as backup reel though..

Swapping Star Drag Of Cu50E W/ Cu200 E
That's the first thing I did, swap the handle of CORE 100Mg with CU 200e. Now the core sports the a handle w/ bearings.

Swapping Star Drag Of Cu50E W/ Cu200 E
Thanks J. Yes I did replace the drags with Carbontex. I also like bearing on the handle knob, I like what you did with your Calcutta. I also replace mine a using a Caenan handle. I got the caenan for $30.00, I cannibalize it for bearings, Handle and the metal cast control cap. Here's the Caenan handle w/ bearings on the CT 50 XT. BTW, the Caenan has a spool shaft bearing, same size as the CT 50 XT spool shaft bearing , another spare bearing for the CT.

Swapping Star Drag Of Cu50E W/ Cu200 E
it's an improvement of quality on parts. Shimano sometime makes some wierd combination on parts. Another good example is the handle for Curado 200e and CORE 100Mg, The CU 200e has bearing in each handle knob while the CORE 100Mg has plastic bushings. That's actually one of the parts that I've swapped between CU200 E and Core 100MG. Another sample is the handle from Caenan and the New Curado G, the Caenan has bearing on each handle knob while the new CU 200 G has plastic bushing.

Swapping Star Drag Of Cu50E W/ Cu200 E
I have this old CU200 e5 that I don't use much so I decided to swap the aluminum star drag to the CU 50e. Parts to include in swapping drag star: 1. Star Drag - (CU 200e has the aluminum and the CU 50e has the graphite material) 2, Star drag nut 3. Spring 4. Clutch Bearing Insert. From this : To this: The donor:

The Balancer™ Rod Balancing System
Shoe goo + a couple of quarters as counter weights + felt tip is your solution. No need to cut or sand the butt end of the rod. The Shoe goo will hold the quarters pretty good. The best thing about this solution is that you can remove the weights without damaging the cork if you later decide to remove them by using a braid line to cut thru the dried shoe goo. You can use a scotch tape to hold them in place when while drying the Shoe goo.

Carrot Stix Wild Black Rods Any Advice
Could you please explain why would you say micro guides on this Carrot Stix Wild Black spinning rod which has a smaller gathering ring more beneficial compared to using a standard size gathering ring ?

Carrot Stix Wild Black Rods Any Advice
check the pix on this, it clearly shows that this way smaller that a regular first ring guide size. You can easily guestimate the size by matching it with the diameter of the reel seat lock screw http://www.basspro.c...05012112/277174 now compare it with this one: http://www.basspro.c...10210560/149410

Carrot Stix Wild Black Rods Any Advice
Micro guide is not really good for spinning rods. The only advantage is lighter weight but it restricts the flow of that line from the spool to that smaller first ring guide. Thus shorter casting distance compared to the one's with regular size ring guides. But if your going for casting rods with micro guides then that would make more sense. IMHO

Element 21 Carrot Stix® Wild Black Casting Rods
All I can say about the carrot stix maker is ..... WHY??? First they have the bright orange blank and now they come up with a black blank but sporting a NEON green Butt end But don't get me wrong I do have the original carrot stix and I love them for soaking bait because I could be 100 yards away from it and still could see if the tip is moving on a bite

Walking The Dog
Cumara Reaction 6'3" Heavy/Fast Action with CU 50e , 20# Braid sufix 832, 6ft of 12# leader. You need a mono or FC leader to minimize hook getting caught on the line when using braid. A 12# and up leader will be stiff enough that the lire is pushed in front by the lure avoiding tangle compared to using a straight braid where the lure will overrun the line and get tangled with the hook. Do not use glass rod. The tip is too slow. It absorbs most of the twitching action thus giving less movement on the lure. A heavy/Fast actoin rod will give the lure best action with less energy on the twitch/wrist movement.
