  1. Dont know the weight, maybe 4lb,but look to the left there is a picture- 19 1/4"
  2. A couple weeks ago I tried a SPRO Frog for the fist time, caught my PB in 15 minutes. A few days after that caught a real nice one. Now though Ive been out 3 more times, just got back from the 3rd, twice at the same place and once at another lake, SKUNKED all 3 times I bought other colors & a SPRO Popper just haven't tried them yet so hopefully a color switch will help.
  3. I have a Stradic FI 1000 and a St Croix Avid 8'. I think both components are great but if I had to give one up it would be the Stradic. The rod has so much better feedback/sensitivity than the lesser rods I have. When I do put the Stradic on another rod I can tell Im missing out on the "feel" of fishing. I would rather fish a set-up of my $25 Pflueger underspin & AVID rod than my Stradic/$60 Wally Marshall Pro rod. So my thought get the best rod you can then get a good reel.
  4. Add $19 to this just bought a scale today.
  5. I just spent $80 this week on frogs, jigs, line. Prior to this week maybe $50 since April.
  6. I have fished a VERY CLEAR 25acre lake for at least 7 years with only PowerPro no leader. I can see a worm 10 feet down 50 feet out. Ive caught hundreds of bass out of it. I even wear bright yellow shirts fishing from shore and caught bass 3-4 feet from me. I dont think its your line at all.
  7. They look nice. From the video looks to have real long legs. If they are sold somewhere around me would like to get the Yellow/Black one.
  8. Well you say you have one topwater but not the type. If you dont have a frog bait thats what I say to get. One SPRO Bronzeye frog I like Green Tree color or you could get 2 Scum Frogs for $10.
  9. WOW Ive been using 10# powerpro with my frog on slop. I havent had any issues with it on my BC or Spinning reels. I did just get 20# PP but havent put it on yet. Will be for lily pads area. Im thinking its quite enough but I guess it depends on the size fish you are most likely to catch. I see all these posts about 50,65# test and just think why :-?
  10. I used both bronzeye & bigfoot this past monday and though I got strikes on both, no catches, I got more stikes on the bronzeye. Both were green. Ive yet to catch anything on the bigfoot after 4 outings amounting to 3hrs of use.
  11. Im thinking I need stronger/thicker line than 10/2 PowerPro for this area. There are a bunch of downed limbs and low hanging braches in the area, just hesitant to toss near them, so if an even nicer fish gets on stronger line might be needed to horse it out, away, over them.
  12. Yeah that would be nice to have. Im putting that on my list THANKS.
  13. What Im fishing on is pretty thick. Hardly is the frog in the water actually so the walk-the-dog isnt happening. Im trying to make the frog sort-of hop with a steady retrieve. This I think is what attracts them looks to make a bump on the slop causing a very little disturbance. Ive watched some videos again and read some more threads I think I may be fishing too fast with my (steady retrieve) leading to these missed strikes. Next Ill try the same hop that I do but with some delay in the retrieve.
  14. I just started with a Bronzeye65 Green Tree frog this week and think its my best lure ever. Ive been tossing it out onto thick layer of algea that covers half the lake Im fishing. Its basically like a carpet. The frog isnt even in the water but at some 1' wide holes every 20' here and there caused by the frog landing and missed strikes :'(. I just try to hop it with steady retrieve like I think a real frog would do.
  15. Went same spot, as in other post, today managed just one with my frog had 5 strikes in about 2hrs
  16. Oh, that has a nice belly on it WTG
  17. Ive walked by this area quite a few times and always thought I need something to toss in there. I found what was needed now itching to get back out there. The last few days I just keep pictureing in my mind the catch of this fish. The first strike that missed and the split second following that I cursed to the second strike that caught it then the please please dont get away. There were a couple people watching that also made me think its going to get away. Thats the thrill of fishing.
  18. I bought a 9' Pinnacle Tri Wing Classic from a Gander Mountain store.
  19. 1st THANKS very much to all of you. About my hand in its mouth. This was a very lively fish flapping all over even while held. I had to get a good grip on it and its mouth was very big. ;D
  20. Hi my name is Ray Im 41yo. Been lurking here quite some time just recently joined. One quirk I have is I like to use light gear for fishing. 90% of the fishing I do is with a spinning outfit St Croix Avid 8' Med LT Mod rod and a Shimano Stradic 1000 reel. The bass I do catch put up a real nice fight with this set-up. I too bought me a boat this year. A Sea Eagle 124SMB inflatable boat It fits my needs for the small lakes around my area but man did the guys at work razz me for getting it.
  21. WOW! Great fish.
  22. The place is Four Lakes, its like 4 miles North of Winnebago.
  23. Its not huge but my personal best. Read some threads here about SPRO Frogs so went out and bought one (Green Tree) and with-in my first 15 minutes with it caught this guy. Just around 19". Oh was I thrilled, my only worry was getting over this tree limb in the way but managed. I only had PowerPro 10/2 reeled-up. Was out there about 75'
  24. How would you rate this rod if you bought it for $20? I was thinking of getting it for my son he has an uglystik but just wanting to get him another set-up. Cabelas has it for $20 http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0078242124142a&navCount=6&podId=0078242&parentId=cat21428&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat21404-cat21406-cat21428&catalogCode=OG&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat21428&hasJS=true
