Need a Spinning Reel? PSA...
Im left-handed always throw with left, reel with right on all reels. About the drag- No didnt take notice of drag type nor am I all that knowledgeable of types. I just did a quick search and a carbon drag seems to be beneficial, yes/no? I have a Shimano Stradic FI 1000 will get to see how this XT compares to it I guess. I didnt do much research on this reel just saw the deal and I needed a new one so took a chance. I do read a lot of good reviews about Pflueger spinning reels. Oh and Pflueger has a long sleeve shirt offer as well so will be getting one of those.

Need a Spinning Reel? PSA...
THANKS Webertime I printed the BPS page for this reel, braved the blizzard we are having, took it with me to Gander Mountain on the other side of town. They did have them and yes they MATCHED THE PRICE They had a St Croix Premier 6'6"MH F rod like the one I bought at DICK'S for $24 so I got to pair them to get a good feel for the combo. The 30 size seems the better match for the MH rod so that is what I got. So in all a $250 combo for $93 not bad. ;D

Anyone here tried "Google Chrome" as a browser?
1st I know very little about computers. Doesnt your anti-virus/internet security protection stop this spyware? I use chrome and my protection is KasperskyIS 2011. I had my Kas protection run a full computer scan(viruses,Trojans, spyware, worms all othe threats) and all is fine. Will that Spybot find something my Kaspersky wont?

Okuma VS Pinnacle
I dont know about the latest ones but my main bass baitcaster is a 2003 Pinnacle Deadbolt Classic. This has been a great reel for me since day one very smooth to this day with just basic cleaning. I throw 1/8th oz jigs with it just fine. This past summer tossing frogs landed my PB never a worry about this thing. My heart sank though when I forgot and left it and pole on top off my car and drove-off :'( Going about 45mph heard a scrapping sound on roof of car looked back and saw my reel sliding on the road ooohhhhh!!!into the curb. Large scrape/scratch mark but the reel still works fine. Ive been wanting to get a new one but now cant find any locals that sell Pinnacle to get hands-on.

St. Croix Rods
A 1 minute search found this article-- http://www.simplyhired.com/a/local-jobs/city/l-Park+Falls,+WI And this quoted from article "According to our Park Falls Trends data, the number of Park Falls, Wisconsin jobs has decreased by 72% since May 2009." But yeah lets build in Mexico to keep the city small; they dont need no stinking jobs.

NASCAR screwed up again!
They lose me when they show the races on cable only. Havent had cable for 14 years. Put races back on network over the air.

Rod Warranties
My St Croix Avid has snapped twice. Once my fault once I feel not my fault. Both times St Croix charged me $20 and it cost me like $10 to ship each time so $60 in total for 2 fixes. On a $180 rod its better than being SOL.

anything you do that goes against "the rules of fishing"?
I fish from shore on a pretty clear lake, use braid and also my favorite shirt(as seen to the left) is bright yellow. Even on sunny days I still catch fish havent been skunked at this lake for years. Iv caught bass, catfish as close as 4'-5' from me.

Sevylor Fish Hunter
Also if you do get one check your state boating regulations for need to register the boat. I'm in IL and must register my inflatable and I have been checked by DNR guys.

SPLIT from Kayak thread. How do YOU go solo? Canoe, float tube, john, etc...
Sea Eagles have a great rep...and sure are handy for storage and transportation... I was hesitant at first but the material is quite durable. I held a lighter on the material for 10 seconds and it didnt melt through the stuff, that surprised me. I tried pushing a key through it didnt happen. I can park and be on the water in 25 minutes thats not too bad. I use to have a 14jon and didnt get on the water much quicker than that especially when the boat launch has 10-15 in line waiting.

Here is my sea eagle 124smb it gets me on the water and everything fits in the back of my suv when done. I really like this thing I can stand move around its very stable. I just got a seat for it so can lean back and enjoy when the fish arent in the mood to have fun.

Good deal @ Dick's
store locator NC http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/corp/index.jsp?page=storeLocator&selectedIndexValue=&selectedStateIndexValue=&strLocator=&state=NC here looks like the Premier line is on clearance this line is all Ive seen that was reduced and the line I bought. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=11102014&view=all I guess call them be VERY polite tell them you are 60miles away and if they would kindly scan a St Croix Premier rod for you. Tell them you are seeing online reports of good deals on these rods and on their website. Like I mentioned the salesman didnt even know he had more on sale but that is not hard to imagine.

Good deal @ Dick's
Yesterday when I went the salesman said the one St Croix I bought was the last one they had. I had a hunch this morning and went back to check and sure enought they had some more but they WERENT TAGGED. I had the cashier scan the price of a St Croix Premier 6'6" MH Fast ---yep $23.48, I bought it So a heads-up even if its not tagged with the .97 or .93 have it checked might get lucky.

Thinking about buying a new jon boat what to do
I had a 14'42" jon and it was plenty stable for me and a friend or two, that 16'48" no worries Just tossing this out to you around my area N IL a 16'jon 10hp, at times a trolling motor to, and trailer can be had for $700-800 or so used. I bought my 14'/5hp/trlr for $500 sold it for $450 5 years later. $2500 could by a pretty nice used small lake/river fishing B/M/T.
