  1. Ive had baitcasters now for over 20 years yet just yesterday was out in the backyard for some target practice. I was watching my kids in their playground so figured why not. Got my new SMOKE rod a Spro frog tied on throwing at basketball nerf football some smimrings never hurts to practice more.
  2. A "Full Screen" option would be nice or is there one and Im just not finding it?
  3. I might not have the correct line from the above statement. I have 10# on a small reel 6720 size that is the smallest reel in the President line-up smaller thamn my Stradic 1000. Here a pic I tossed a jig about 40' and this what the line looks/does like.
  4. I fish all types of reels. Used both spinning & BC a couple days ago. Basically use BC for heavier baits (1/2oz jigs, frogs, crankbaits) and spinning light stuff (weightless nightcrawlers, 1/16oz jigs, shaky worms the like). I have used spinning reels with frogs spinnerbaits CB and 1/8oz jigs, senko with BC. Use both.
  5. Do you mean just the Hydrid or the Hybrid Ultra soft? I bought the Ultra Soft and its not working so well on my spinning reel- Pflueger President. Could post pics if interested. I let the line out in the yard reeled it in 4-5 times to get twist&coiling out, not so good. I have KVDLL that helped a bit with twist but still had coiling took it off tossed it. Spooled again sprayed it with REELMAGIC that did better but still not pleased. Might just go back to PowerPro 8/1
  6. Couple weeks ago I exchanged a BPS Microlite Elite for a Micro President yep much much smoother than BPS reel. Had it out tossing SK itsy/bitsy jig pretty nice.
  7. PowerPro now in 3# & 4# Microline http://www.powerpro.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/power_pro_v2/products/0.html
  8. THATS GREAT!! So you think you are hooked on bass fishing now? What is even better is you have a photo of your 1st LM dont ever loose it. Ive always wished I had taken a picture of my sons first fish.
  9. Same here . I have a great $70 bc reel thats been trouble free for 8 years and a $150 reel that is in need of service after just 3 years. And yes the Avid I have is soooo much better than my lesser priced rods. Though I just bought a Quantum Smoke rod and had it out today it may give my Avid a run for its money need more time to tell.
  10. I bought a Deadbolt Classic in '03 and it has been a great reel to this day-still use it. I want to give Pinnacle another try but cant find a place that sells them. I really would like to get a "hands on" with the Optimus XT Black Chrome reel. Has the dealers been figured-out yet? From Rockford, IL to Chicago, IL to Milwaukee, WI to Madison, WI anywhere in between???
  11. /\ Do you "right click" on wrong word? Right click on wrong word will bring up a list of corrections.
  12. I saw on another site with like 7 Dobyns rods there was from 5" for 6'8" rod to 9" for 8' rod from center of reel seat for balance point. 7' rods were 5.5" to 6.75" 8' rods 7.5",8",9"
  13. OK THANKS trying it now yep works. I mainly use chrome for espn3
  14. Hi howw aree youu doingg todayy. Wondering if others are not able to use the "Check spelling" feature? It worked before, not now. On the above I tried and get -no spelling errors found. :-?
  15. One other thing. I saw on a few fishing tackle sites that it is mentioned "All Quantum rods have a lifetime warranty" Well this one DOES NOT it has 5 years.
  16. My take, less material between the line and transfer to blank and the line stays in contact with the guides more for more transfer of vibration. A person with more expertise may give better or correct reason.
  17. From my understanding the micro-guides are a big part of the reason you say "they are so sensitive"
  18. Been wanting a new casting rod and too have been eyeing the Smoke rod. Called around and a BPS in Bolingbrook IL about 85miles from me had a 7' MF so made the trip to check it out and wound-up getting it. This is my 1st "better" quality casting rod plus very curious to try out a micro-guide rod. It is light I weighted it and its 3.44ozs. I dont think that is too bad for 7' MF rod in its price range. I balanced it on a pen and the photo shows where it balanced at, around 8" up from the center of reel-seat, without reel on. With the reel (pictured) on the rod it balances where the pen is pointing just next to the front of reel-seat. All the chance I have had to cast it has been in the yard tossing a jig. Couple things I noticed was how quiet 20# PowerPro passes through the guides and it seems much easier casting as well, quite noticeable on first cast. The rod it replaced was an 8yr/old $60 Pflueger. I have St Croix Avid & Premier spinning rods so itching to get these rods side by side in the lake to "feel" the sensitivity comparison.
  19. WTH! i thought it was cold in a place like Illinois?! I'm in northern PA and our lakes and ponds are still completely froze around here! i mean froze solid right to the banks, its not even starting to thaw away from shore! i just need to get out and at least cast for a while Im in the WTH department too on this. Im in Rockford IL and there is a 26 acre lake 2 miles from me. I checked it yesterday at 3:30pn and its still iced over. i too am from rockford area ice still on alot of lakes which lake u by quake? Cherry Valley Lake I did get out last Friday to test my new rods&reels ice was still within casting distance. Caught nothing but did see a grayfish move out from rocks about 10 feet.
  20. If you paid tax send proof here is the info. Tax form I picked-up at DMV http://www.dnr.illinois.gov/boating/Pages/default.aspx http://www.dnr.illinois.gov/boating/Pages/TaxRequirementonWatercraft.aspx http://www.dnr.illinois.gov/boating/Pages/Information.aspx
  21. I was there for that match Lee only missed once he tried doing a back-flip over-head crack & whiffed
  22. Yep works for me. I have a question. Can those videos be viewed full screen? I can only get like a 6" diagonal screen view.
  23. Oh I left out the BIG Lake--Lake Michigan --Thats not me nor will it ever be.
  24. The boat material has held-up well so far. Ive only had it one year now. Before I bought it I got send some sample material from Sea Eagle and tried sticking it with a key quite forcibly and a pen but coundnt poke a hole in it. Even took a lighter and held the flame to the material for 10 seconds and it didnt sustain a hole or melt through The largest lake Ive been to is Shabbona (320acres) and made it around the lake. The battery has lasted on all trips but I dont use it constantly. I will head to an area and anchor or drift and repeat. Can figure that if the motor at full uses 50amps will get around 1hour 45minutes or so runtime out of 95 amp battery. Thats not fishing speed though the boat gets pushed easily at low power for extended running. With my motor it has the "maximizer" tech that is suppose to add even more runtime per charge at lower speeds just never actually checked. I got the group24 size (small) battery cause my back limits what I can lift try to keep things under 40 pounds or so. If you can, get you a group 27 or 29 for more amps.
  25. There are many places to take it. Closest Rock-Cut w Pierce & Olson, Four Lakes(row only), Lake Le-Aqua-Na, Shabbona(my favorite), float down the Kishwaukee River. Havent been East of town at all. Would like to get to Mendota there are 2 small lakes down there I believe. For motor I have MinnKota Maxxum 55lb digital variable speed and a Farm & Fleet 95amp Deep Cycle. You do have to register it, Ive been checked a few times.
