I read a lot about Yo Zuri hybrid on here. However, I usually just read that it's great, and you should use it. My question though, is why? What are the qualities that make it good? Is it something you would use on your spinning reels? baitcasters? I'm just really curious. I'm just getting a grasp on when I prefer mono or braid or flouro. Where does this fit in the line up?

Working on both types of rigs. 8# for spinning and 12# for baitcasters for me. Generally speaking co-poly is tough & cost effective especially when purchased in bulk. If its sprayed with line conditioner its very managable. Also has a better sink rate than mono.

Basically if you like mono and can't afford or don't like fluoro this will meet both requirements nicely.

It is very strong and sensitive line. I have bent hooks on lures before snapping the line when a lure is stook in the water. Plus, at $9 per 275 yards, it priced right.

Its like P-Line CXX but without the memory...and make sure you get clear, the green is like a lime green color :(

Its great line, sensitive line, great abrasion resistance and it is very very strong. When used with KVD L&L it is very manageable.

For spinning reels I use Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft.

You hear about it so much because for the money its nearly impossible to beat IMO. The stuff is downright tough and is ALMOST as invisible as flouro. Give it a shot I can guarantee you won't be disappointed. I regret waiting so long to buy my first spool of Hybrid.

Do you mean just the Hydrid or the Hybrid Ultra soft?

I bought the Ultra Soft and its not working so well on my spinning reel- Pflueger President. Could post pics if interested. I let the line out in the yard reeled it in 4-5 times to get twist&coiling out, not so good. I have KVDLL that helped a bit with twist but still had coiling took it off tossed it. Spooled again sprayed it with REELMAGIC that did better but still not pleased. Might just go back to PowerPro 8/1

Oh goodness QUAKENSHAKE, not what I'm wanting to hear. After much browsing through threads here in the forum I ordered and am expecting a package from T-warehouse with those exact 2 items (8# Ultra AND a President to spool it up on). I sure hope I have better luck than you. :(

I had excellent luck with 8# on spinning gear. Its cheap enough where its easy to correct if you don't like it.

I have the Ultra Soft in 8lbs and 10lbs test on a couple of my spinning reels and have never had a problem with it, even when I did not treat it with KVD L&L.

How did you go about putting it on your reel?

The characteristics of Ultra Soft are quite different than just "Hybrid." I find that 12 # Ultra soft is a wonderful line for baitcasting, haven't tried heavier tests.

I use 10# successfully on a Shimano Stradic, but I know I would have trouble with a size 100 reel-my Stradic is 400. The smaller the spool diameter, the less heavy you can go with any line. You should find the Ultra Soft allowing you to go not as high as the limper monos, but higher than flouros.

Note that the instructions for loading line onto different spinning reels is different. I don't know why, but with some you take it off the end of the line spool without the line spool rotating, in a direction opposite the rotation of the bail. This is logical since spinning reels inherently put a twist in the line for every bail rotation, and this method counteracts that. On others that have "special" line twist reduction you take it off the spool with the spool rotating. Check the instructions for your reel. If you don't do it right you can have a mess with any line.

I might not have the correct line from the above statement. I have 10# on a small reel 6720 size that is the smallest reel in the President line-up smaller thamn my Stradic 1000.

Here a pic I tossed a jig about 40' and this what the line looks/does like.

That looks more like line twist than anything. Theres some memory in it, thats going to happen no matter what with a small spinning reel though. Doesn't look too bad. You may want to try and get rid of some of that twist in the line and see what happens. I'd definitely consider dropping down to 6# Yo-zuri myself. That stuff is still plenty strong.

6# line is what you need , your line is too thick for the size of the reel. :o

I've never had a break-off with Yo-Zuri Hybrid - except one. I tried to lift a big, blue catfish that had taken my jig and paca craw over the side of my boat. The line broke where is tied to the jig. The fish was well over the weight test of the line. Yo Zuri Hybrid is good stuff, indeed.

I would even go lower than 6lb hybrid. I've seen that reel and it is tiny. IMO 2-4# mono or very light braid for that one.

X2. I use tiny reels like that for panfishing mostly. They match up well with 4# P-Line CXX and a 6-7' UL or L power rod. I wouldn't go any heavier than that with the line.

I like the Hybrid in 15 pounds. That stuff is really strong. I don't care too much for the ultra soft though.

The picture looks to me like the line was put on backwards. I have been using Yo-zuri hybrid in 6 and Yo-zuri soft in 12 and 15 lb for several years now and love it.
