  1. An amazing catch. Also with with cameras and such today being so great, think makes realeasing a fish like that a much easier decision can do..... a few pics, a few measurements, and you have an exact replica of your fish while you can maybe catch that fish again with an extra lb on it and reset the record haha. That is a fish that wil leave a smile on your face for a long long time. And just because it popped up here about posts and such, Thanks moderators. Amazing job with little thanks.
  2. Did you get a picture of the Pike? Would be real curious..... And sounds like you had a real nice day in some tough conditions Wayne
  3. Can always start trading with other..... so then you can have even more stuff..haha
  4. In NOVA we are supposed to have a few nice days in a row..... will def try to get the pointer wet then.
  5. K well will be there today probably around 1230 or so. Black CUA football hat if anyone wants to say Hi
  6. Care to share the vendor name for those who might be going tomorrow? Can always seemingly twist my arm into a new rod.
  7. Be there probably around 1 or 2 (as soon as I can escape this thing that always seems to get in the way of fishing stuff........ work) Be the guy in the black CUA football hat if you want to say hi
  8. Great discussion on this new product as we watch the water get hard and look at all the new stuff. I was interested...... quickly getting less interested.
  9. Who knew fish loved old school metallica..... I would listen to anything to keep the jet skiers away..... I liked the rocket launcher idea.
  10. I have no decision on this technique yet other than it looks like a total pain to throw all day. I keep trying to make my lures enter the water like an diver... soft with no splash.... years of working on that is going to prevent me from throwing a cinder block sized rig out there but maybe someday. We had a interesting talk about discarded plastics and someone brought up lost plastics still being a issue, not just the ones thrown in the water by "place insult here" who ruin on resources. I would guess these rigs are easy to foul up..... correct or not bad? I get stuck on someone else's line about every other trip, I imagine a rig like this lost in the water is going to foul up a lot of people. So are these easy to foul? I would think they are for open water, but sure plenty of people will throw them around cover and that seems like trouble.
  11. Get to see some of the action on these
  12. Should be in the eye of the law you can make a citzen's "beat down" on people littering and harming our resources. It is just dumb. People sinking cans to the bottom, discarding of line or plastic, or my favorite...... obvious opening a package of something at tossing all the packaging in or around the lake.... all are awful. We should get a special padle or something as conservationists that allow us to smack such people upside the head. Seems only fair right? HaHa
  13. Finally the schedule is up. I wish I could see WILSON FRAIZER.... the sonar professor..... speak... but it seems like he might be around in Green Top to speak. Stuck working saturday during the day. I think that would a real interesting topic to learn more about. Heck always looking to get more out of electronics. Will def get down friday night for Shaw Grigsby..... probably miss saturday..... Then be back sunday midday..... so anyone around those times feel free say hey!
  14. I saw some guys shore fishing for cats last Feb ....... If that is your thing. I was out catching nothing but testing out some electronics.
  15. Not a fan of a countdown lure?
  16. Post of the year already........ that video always kills me
  17. Think a pond is going to be tough going based mainly on population and size. An actual lake or something with some depth (10+ feet) is giving the fish some options. A pond like you described, not so much. Limited options. So therefore it might be especially tough. They might be real lock jawed until those few moments where they actual will feed..... just a mater of going slow enough in front of them with the right lure and presentation, at that right moment. That right moment is the million dollar question. On a larger body..... well I see it alot like spawn..... At any given time in the spring, some will be pre spawn, spawning, and post spawn all at the same time. Same in the winter..... some might be not biting anything that day, some might be tempted into biting, and some are looking to eat. A bigger body gives more options and temps. So you can hit a drop off in the morning and get no action but return later and find some fish have moved up the column and could eat. A pond does not provide that.
  18. So what if we take this a more positive way..... What is the best and worst "expensive" lure you have bought or have heard bad things about...... My best- LC pointer........ think well worth the money. Highly recomend. My worst- The Jackall SK-Pop Grande....... 14.99 and I think a chug bug, pop R, and hula popper are simply vastyly superior.
  19. I keep a seperate box in my main box ....... a Flambeau zero rust box........ because in my experience my hooks for soft plastics rust first, so I wanted to keep it rust free. Lead weights, brass weights, all hooks, shakey heads, brass clickers, glass beads, ...ect. All in there. here is the link. http://www.basspro.com/Flambeaureg;-Zerustreg;-Tuff-Tainerreg;-Utility-Boxes/product/10212529/142177?cmCat=CROSSSELL_THUMBNAIL Also keep my jigs in one too...... the skirts seem to hold water, and I want my jigs staying totally rust free, so use a simlar box. Been real happy with them. (got the tabs too spread through the box...... very low priced so why not protect the investment)
  20. BTW.... anyone seem a seminar schedule yet? ...... Sam maybe? On the website the seminar schedule page has no info in the actual dates...... I actually might be able to go down sunday too because of the 5pm close time. Anyone ever stick around until closing...... get a few deals that way?
  21. There are a lot of guys (not fisherman) in D.C. who drop a few hundred a weekend on drinking but would laugh at the 15 buck LC. Great point there. The beers will only be fun for that night haha! My constant questions on prices on here comes down to quality versus price. I buy some LC's because I believe the quality is there. Yet I also buy and fish bomber, strike king, bandit, norman, and storm cranks. Most I have to change the hooks on where I do not have to change a LC's hooks (in my opinion). I am not sure an LC is actually better than a bomber or strike king when it comes to catching fish, but I do like their colors and action so I have a few. They appear to me to be a quality product and am willing to give them a shot. I do think though a lot of these newer baits are overpriced when they come to quality. I also think as fishermen we should be more selective and demand that high quality if we are going to pay more. We should not naturally assume a 15 buck lure is better because it is $15. BTW J Francho...... when it came down to that stradic decision I was looking at, I said what the heck (after checking out the drag system) and went with the brand new stradic..... which I am very impressed with.
  22. A huge factor too has to be the market. When we all buy lucky craft cranks at 14 bucks a pop..... then jackal jumps in the market and does the same thing with some buzz....... well the bomber is going to jump their prices too. They have to think their product is comparable and if people are willing to pay 14 bucks for a crank then they will definitely pat 7 or 8 for a bomber. When someone buys a $400 swimbait, then people are going to say why not raise prices a buck or two.
  23. Wow thought it might actually be a bit warmer with the sun we have been getting. Were you alone out there or did the nice weather bring out a few other boaters?
  24. Will be there certainly friday night, possibly saturday, and propbably will not make sunday......... no good work constantly getting in the way of fishing....
