what about micro guides?
I don't own a true microguide rod. A few of mine have what are considered partially micro. The first few guides are pretty normal, but the top 3 or so are pretty close to micro. The few that I have fished that are true micro rods seem indistinguishable from my partially micro rods. I think with a full micro rod I would just be worried about snagging or mashing one of those little boogers on the base of the rod, where I am normally not as careful with as I am the tip. Other problems I have even seen with my partial micros is that when I am around algae or other slop the guides tend to get gummed up a little. However, I do like the decreased tip weight and do feel that the micros make the blank a little more light and sensitive.

Braid cutting guides
whole tip has to go. A while back I had a big chunk of one tip inserts shear off for some weird reason. I just took it to my local tackle store and they did all the dirty work for the cost of the new tip.

rod comparisons
Yea with fishing stuff...if it ain't broke don't fix it. At best you will get a new rod, not like it, and wish you had gotten the Clarus...At worst you will get something else and like it more. This is bad because you, like all us other alpha male fisherman, will then feel the constant need to replace your other rods with this great new find. This predicament is only fully realized when you go to take the girl out for dinner, or fill the truck up with gas and realize the money needed for these items is sitting in your rod rack. Been there done that... its not pretty

pflueger summit 10 bearings
I will admit that I am liking my Summit a lot more since I paired it with my new Daiwa Celio and spooled it up with 20# PP. I also changed the braking to where I only have 2 pins engaged on the brake. These changes have greatly increased my ability to throw lighter rigs with it. In fact it maybe become my new drop shot rod/reel.

Need advice on rod/reel combo, under $225, for soft plastics
Pick up a Daiwa Cielo from *** on sale for 120$. They still have a few left in 6'6" MH... It is basically a dressed down steez (same blank). I got mine in the mail the other day and caught about 8 on it this morning drop shotting. This rod has been love at first cast for me. It is so sensitive and looks great. My only regret is that I didn't get onto the sale earlier so I could have gotten some different models. As far a reels go I don't think you could go wrong with the Citca or saving up 20$ and getting a Curado. I would also suggest looking around for a Pfleuger Summit on sale.

Spinning Reels and Braid?
I have 20# PP with a floro leader on my drop shot spinning reel. Never had a problem, and it seems to work great.

weight color?
i do the same except its my sister's nail polish I would be careful using fingernail polish... The chemical receptors of fish are astounding. For the same reason you never want to touch soft plastics with bug spray or sunscreen on your hands, I don't know if I would put something as potent as nail polish out there either. I know once its dry it is pretty sealed, but you just never know.

favorite shaky head jig??
I shakey head fish a lot and have used at least ten different brands of jig heads. I find that I prefer certain traits as much as any one brand. I have to have that screw lock, and I like the smaller ones the best. The smaller screw locks seem to work the best with my roboworms. I also tend to steer towards the football shaped heads and away from the ball heads. I just don't think the ball heads stand up as well on the bottom. I can make do with any brand that sports these traits, but I am buying megastrike in 3/16 if i get my way.

Whats Your Thoughts On
I tried out a spool on one of my baitcasters this past season... You don't have to worry about me making that mistake again. I did not have the knot troubles some are describing, but it didn't want to seat well at all on my spool no matter what I tried. Every other cast I would look down and it had come loose again. I also had an issue with cast-ability. Bottom line is I would have spent twenty more bucks for line to avoid all the problems I had with this stuff.

pflueger summit 10 bearings
I have one and bought it when I was just getting into low profile baitcasting. Overall I like the reel, but it doesn't really blow my hair back. In general it is super smooth all the way around. However, I do have a few complaints. The reel does not like to throw light stuff, and it seems to prefer mono or braid instead of top-shoting floro. I also "lightly" stepped on the reel one of the first times I fished it and the handle bent. I was able to bend it back easily, but that was almost just as worrisome. I don't own a Shimano Curado, but if I had to do it over again I would have saved the extra twenty bucks and prob snagged one of those based on what I have heard and read. The Citca is another good option if you can't find a deal on a Curado.

Thoughts on Shimano Calcutta Reels?
If you had your choice between a Calcutta B series and a Curado 200E which would you pick?

Thoughts on Shimano Calcutta Reels?
Thinking about picking one of these up, but my money doesn't grow on trees, and I was wondering what experiences people have with them. I was looking at B series and would probably pair it with a Kistler Micro Mag 7' stick.

Skeet Reese Signature Rods
I was too angry to take a picture when mine snapped on the first time I had ever set the hook with it. However, I took it back and they replacement has not had the same issue. I asked the guy at the store I got it if he had seen a lot coming back through the door broken, and he said that he had seen a decent amount, but it seemed to be hit or miss. Either they seemed to break right away or they didn't and people liked them. I have the Worm/Jig rod and have been somewhat underwhelmed with it even when it is in one piece.

Favorite Soft Plastic for Drop Shot?
Are the people who like the swimbait or fluke type baits fishing those differently than say you would a worm on a drop shot? I know for me I get the best results just letting my worm sit for a few seconds then dragging it along the bottom for a few feet then letting it sit again. I fish in mostly shallow water so I am more horizontal anyway. I guess what I am asking is do you have to give non worm type baits more action or do they work just as well letting them sit?

Favorite Soft Plastic for Drop Shot?
What is everybody's favorite thing to put on that finesse hook? I know for me it has got to be fat roboworms... but I am looking to branch out.

$120ish Drop Shot Rod Options
I would like to get my hands on an excel to try it out. I have heard good things about them as well... And as far as the roboworms go... those fish tear them to pieces so fast. I go through maybe 5 packs in a good weekend at my honey hole pond.

Hello From Central SC
I am a senior in college at a upstate school in South Carolina. I play division 1 football, so that takes up a lot of my time. However, whenever I can sneak away I am always headed towards the water. I have been fishing for most of my life for mostly largemouth, stripers, the occasional bluegill, or inshore reds. I am getting to the point were I am trying to acquire some nice bass tackle that will last me a while before I have to deal with a mortgage and all that other fun stuff. I have already learned some good stuff from this forum, and I am looking forward to much more.
