I'd almost wait until the Tournament ZX rods go on sale again. About a month ago they were on sale for $70 (regularly $100) and they are a much better rod than the Tourney Trail. Now if you need something now, go ahead an go for it.

FWIW I have the Tournament MG so I know it's a solid reel, was just curious if anyone had actually used this Lazer Pro because I've never seen or heard of them before. Looks like it is just a Cabela's exclusive item.

Is this reel exclusive to Cabela's and has anyone ever used one? It's the same price point at the Tournament MG at $129, but I can't seem to find any info on it. I've held it in my hands and played with it for a little bit. The reel has a nice feel to it, but I'd love to hear if anyone had any field experience with it. Got a birthday around the corner and am looking at getting the Lowrance Elite 5 or 7 HDI to replace my crappy Humminbird 170 that I've had for years. I get a good discount on the Lowrance fish finders so I was wondering what if there's a notable difference between the 5 and 7 besides screen size? Also curious as to how difficult the installation process would be for an aluminum hull boat and what my potential costs would be if I took it somewhere to have it installed? Thanks in advance guys and feel free to offer any tips or advice.

I'm not tied to one brand so I've been experimenting with various brands trying to gain some experience with each company. Anyways I was looking for some first hand reviews on a couple of Quantum casting/spinning reels as this is likely my next purchase. I just recently picked up a 7ft MH Veritas and paired it with a Lews Tournament MG. I did my research on here and came to the conclusion that you don't have to have a heavy rod to frog fish. The 65lb PP along with a stiff MH rod will get the job done.

Just recently picked up a job working in a fishing department so I was hoping to read up on some of the stuff we have. I've traditionally been a soft-plastics guy for the majority of my fishing days, but I have more fishing time on my hands and have the luxury of working in a store with literally thousands of baits at my fingertips. I'm just wanting to increase my product knowledge and know stuff to read up on or play with in the store. Feel free to share stuff not considered mainstream or popular because there is plenty of stuff on the pegs I've never even heard of. You should be able to find the Lews Tournament MG online for $100. Great reel for the money IMO. You have plenty of decent options at that price range though.

Just downloaded the Navionics app for my iPhone since I don't have a built in GPS on my fish finder and it works well. Has all the main lakes, but not going to have reservoirs or smaller bodies of water like that.
