Awesome! Simply Awesome. Hands Down this is the best soft plastic bait I've ever used. I use it with a 5/0 or 6/0 Keel weighted hook. I like to use different retrieves. The keel weight helps keep the bait down on faster retrieves. Bottom Line: I have yet use this bait and not catch a fish. The Space Monkey is a close #2. All this in my humble opinion of course. <---------This Fish Was Caught On A Rooster!
  2. Will a very small gas powered motor work on it as well? I'm talking about under 5 hp.
  3. I have been thinking about getting a small boat. I currently do not own one. How stable are they? Are they very tippy? Is it good for two 200 lb people? I mostly fish small lakes and ponds. Occasional a larger lake as well. I guess I really Just want to know how stable they are. Thanks, Marc
  4. Don't forget to put the plug in the boat
  5. Dude, they ended the closed season for bass in NY 3-4 yrs ago. Dec 1st - 3rd Sat in June is now catch and release, artificial lures only. You're welcome! PS- Good to see a fellow Binghamtonian on the board! the worst thing is that oneida lake is closed until may 1st when walleye opens. i hate it because im ready to bass fish by then but when bass is closed i walleye fish salmon fish, steelhead, hutn when the lakes ice over then i ice fish Hey SenkoMan, I am fishing Oneida this weekend. Camping with the family at a nearby campground. We'll be on the east end near Sylvan Beach. Any advice on where to fish on the east end? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will ofcourse target bass, but I wouldn't be too upset if I had an opportunity to grab a Walleye or two either. I'd love to look like a superstar to my 12 year old son.
  6. Which model is that? It looks like the E-1 or E-2 to me.
  7. Thanks for all the great input. God, I love this site! One more question though...... How does the bait perform on a spincaster as opposed to a baitcaster? Does the Eliminator roll alot more. I ask because it seems that I've been using my spincaster rig alot more than my baitcaster. Mainly because my spinners are newer and better. I use alot of soft plastics with my spinner with no problems with rolling. I usually use 10-12 lb mono and 30 lb braid with the rig.

  9. I'm a huge fan of the Strike King Rage Tail line. My favorites are the Space Monkey and the Smokin Rooster creature baits. In the waters that I mainly fish they are "Can't Miss". Although I can't find the Eliminator in any store locally I really want to try it. It looks like it just might have the most life-like action of any of the rage tails. Have any of you tried at out, and how was your success with it? What size hook did you use/will fit it?
  10. I'd like to take a little poll. What do you fish for when Bass is out of season? Or don't you fish at all (I Doubt That). I do my best to target Walleye. But I'll chase Perch and Crappie on occasion too. How about you?
  11. Nate, Where are you in PA?
  12. Yes, the straps that I am talking about are at the top of the four pouches on the sides of the bag. When it is on your back you can feel the rods at times but they do sit away from your back most of the time. I will recomend positioning your rods higher on the pack so they don't poke you in the back of your legs. Theey seem to work perfectly for me. I does help that I have 2-piece rods.
  13. I just received my xps stalker bag in the mail yesterday. So naturally I transferred all my tackle over to it. There are two sets of straps on the backside of the bag that I assumed were for strapping down your rods (at least that's what I used them for yesterday). The bag is worth every cent. Go out and get one now! The only regret that I have is that I could have saved 15 bucks by ordering it from the catalog as opposed to online. In the catalog they will include 4 370s or 7 360s for 10 dollars extra. I bought 5 370s at 5 bucks apiece.
  14. I haven't tried the rage toad yet. I am a big fan of the Rage line-up though. I would recommend trying the Stanley Ribbit if you have not done so yet. For me, it has been a can't miss bait.
  15. Sorry about all the typos. I'm using an android device with a touch screen to type on. Sometimes it doesn't pick up every keystroke and sometimes it completely changes the word before I notice.
  16. So far the best fro that I have used is the Stanley Ribbit. Hands down without a doubt the best frog out there in my opinion. I've hear some good things about the rage tail toad but haven't had the chance to use it yet. The ribbit works great t-rigged with almost any type o retrieve. I bring it back with subtle jerks and usually get a strike. I that's not working I'll use a slow to medium steady retrieve parallel to the shoreline with great success. An if thats no working (pretty rare), then I'll burn it. Bottom line is I do a great deal of shore fishing and this is the first bait I reach for. I love the Ribbit.
  17. Never heard of it. How do you fish it? Just like it sounds?
  18. I'm A guy that does alot of shore fishing and only carry 2 rod setups with me. What I do may sound silly or stupid but it seems to work for me. I my rod I will tie a snap swivel on. Then on each of my most used baits, like Spinner baits and buzz baits as well as some soft plastics (the hook) I will tie on about a 10-12 inch line with a small ring tied on the other end. Then all I need to do is snap my baits on and off. I have yet to notice any drop off in production. More time in the water for me means more fish. Two things to keep in mind though are: be sure to check your knots after a good fight and be sure to use a good strong snap swivel. And don't directly snap the swivel to the bait as it can inhibit the natural movement of the bait. Anyway, I hope this helps.
  19. I'm 34 Years old. I have been fishing all my life with a "brief" vacation from about age 16-just recently. I grew up as a youngster on Owasco Lake. Some of my fondest memories are of my father and I fishing the Owasco Outlet Friday and Saturday nights. Seemed like every weekend from the time I could walk and flick my wrist. We'd sit on the shore behind an old mom & pop gas station and catch bullheads, shiners and bass till the wee hours of the morning. A few other people would come and go as the years went on. We would run into them periodically at the shore and my father would chat with them. I would try to listen in and pick up some tips and what not but most of the time I was too caught up in casting or reeling or catching the next sunny or shiner. Most of the fellow fisher-people (and I say people because one of the most productive that I recall was a woman) would give me lures and hooks...sometimes even reels or rods. That is primarily how I built most of my early tackle. Wow it has been a long time since I've been to the outlet. I wonder what those people are up to today. I wonder if they are still alive. I wonder if they are still fishing. I wonder if they are still fishing the outlet. Basser223, I'm really glad you raised this question because it really has helped me to pull these images out of memory and repaint them in my mind's eye as vividly as ever. Thank you.

  21. Alot of great Ideas. Thanks for all of them. I will definately be using some of your techniques. First thing that I need to do is pick up a larger tackle box/bag. I think I'm leaning toward the bag type. The new ones seem to be very versatile. Once I have that I will be able to organize my softbaits and use the multiple pouches to keep my softies in there original packaging. Again, Thanks for all the reat ideas.
  22. Nope, Have been in the area many times though. I used to live in Auburn NY and loved fishing the Owasco Outlet. Owasco Lake is a great place to fish. I have always been intrigued by Oneida though. It's a much shallower lake than the fingerlakes. I've heard the fishing is great there. Which part of the lake do you fish? Do you target bass or another species? i fish the west end or the end that brewerton is on and i mostly target bass and walleyes and i ice fish on it i the winter for panfish i have never fished any of the finger lakes, the only other lake i fish regularly is Onandaga lake Hmm, How is the Walleye fishing in Oneida? I am looking for a place to fish them. Onandaga eh? How many fish do you pull out of there with an extra eye?

  24. Wow that was quick! Thanks for the ideas. Unfortunately I dont have an academy sports where I live, but I do have a Dicks Sporting goods and a Gander Mountain. Bass Pro Shops is in Auburn NY and I am occasionally up there. Thanks again.
