  1. I'm sure ya'll have your favorite conditions for throwing a certain brand. Specifically, when you would start with a Pop Max over a Yellow Magic over a Rio Rico; or a Vixen over a Sammy over a Dog X? Or whichever few baits are in your box. (Conditions = Cloudy/ sunny/ windy/ calm etc.) I don't want to know what your favorite topwater is, or even when to fish a popper vs a walker. Thanks, P.S. Yes, I know the deal about letting the fish tell me what they want!
  2. Giant indeed! Congrats,
  3. Pointer 100SP lol.
  4. Chin up, and stay strong! Been there, done that; and it'll get better. Hard to believe that, I know.
  5. Holy smokes batman!

Just a small correction. Retail on Matt's rat is ~65; nothing like the Ebay prices you're seeing. Might be worthwhile to friend him on FB. He said something about releasing a small batch every now and then. Also, Jerry Rago has the patent on rat style baits IIRC.
  7. Ramblin' man. The Allman Brothers Band.
  8. It should say "Pointer SP" on the belly about 2/3rds of the way towards the tail (if it's a real Lucky Craft bait).
  9. Probably not as much demand. Anyway, the 301DSV and the 301E still rock..
  10. Reel set vs snap set. When casting jigs, you have way more line out. No idea about lower power rods! I don't fish a lot of vegetation, but I use the same gear whether I'm pitching 30 feet or casting 30 yards.. EDIT: Let's learn from Tom, shall we? (in-fisherman article)
  11. You ever fish Super Pork Blue? It's Tom's (WRB) favorite and he turned me onto these. They went out of business a few years back, but I still have a few jars stockpiled away. Mostly because I hardly ever fish pork. On the few occasions I did fish those, catching was good; even swimming that dead action trailer.
  12. I tried mine already. Sinks super slow; maybe I'll have better luck when fish are shallower.
  13. Thanks FFF. To each his own. I think there's one thing missing from your analysis re:pricing. A lot of R&D goes into a swimbait that actually catches big fish on a regular basis. I'm not paying for just the plastic and lead in the bait. I'm paying for the assurance that this is a proven bait that'll catch big fish. For whatever reasons, the 8 incher happens to be the most *proven* bait in the last decade or two. Hardbaits that cost a few hundred each don't even come close. Or even Magnums. So price has little to do with it. I've never fished in Florida, so I don't know what might or might not work there.
  14. Could you elaborate? Thanks,
  15. Any fans of this bait?
  16. Very comfortable. I am easy to please though. I have rods from different companies, and I haven't found one that I didn't like.
  17. Thank you Sir. I thought I was the only one who saw that. If the 853 is anything like my 893, he might have a hard time throwing even sub quarter oz baits.
  18. Length: I like 7'6" Action: Fast. Bend profile: What's this? Grip: ~11" from trigger to end of the butt (depending on power). Has to have a foregrip.
  19. Not in my book, no. If you insist on 30# braid, at least use a leader for abrasion resistance.
  20. Go with a good mono/ copoly in the correct diameter. I use Sufix Elite/ Siege.
  21. 8" weedlesses and 250s.
  22. Crank it down, and then work the slack.
  23. Maybe it'll catch Mr. Rake too...
