Thanks for the heads up Mine's a "Calypso" made by LL Bean. It's really light-weight....only weighs 35 lb.

Saw some Matsuo sickle hooks in a store....looked em up and supposedly the shape makes them strong enough to enable use of lighter wire. Anybody try them?

Midsummer at Thompson Lake (near me) I drop-shot vertically for smallies when they suspend. Water's real clear, so I only vary bait color a little ( pale works best for me). Depths are around 75 ft usually, so I tie my flurocarbon onto braid for a good hook-set.

They work for me great here. I rig em weedless and twitch over pads and around coon grass. Black mostly
