Anybody familiar with the overall color of crawfish this time of year in Maine? Does it vary according to water temperature?

Anybody ever use em for scent? I used it yesterday to lube knots and had great day! Don't know if it made a difference though.

I'd had a wicked day today and your post wiped all my tears away I think the velcro (even soft) would be far worse than the frog. But don't get discouraged! It's the guys who think off the wall stuff that invent the senkos LOL!

Back in the day all rod handles were just plain ole cork, or wood, or whatever. Not too long ago I noticed rods with an open space (no cork) somewhat below the reel seat. Anybody know why the change?

Was fishing for bucketmouths here in Maine when I was 14.....one day I hooked something on Thompson Lake and I thought I had a hawg!! Turned out it was a 2 1/2 lb smallie. I never looked back. Am headed out there tomorrow in my kayak, will freeze I disagree off, but the thought of one more smallie.....he!

Maybe foolish question.... I'm near Thompson Lake here in Maine. Lakes still have plenty of ice. I tried trapping some minnows where it's open but got not a one. Any idea why? Temperature? Thanks

Am sinking my minnow trap tomorrow....wondering when live bait is best! Lots of ice left up here. Anybody with an opinion about when's the best time for live bait as opposed to lures designed to tick off bedding fish?

Hey, loved this! Especially fascinated with the fish who, for some reason, blew out the lure. Was it the feel? Did the presence of the other fish figure in the aggresiveness of attack? Thanks for making me wonder....

Froze over everywhere here! One of our pulp mills on the Androscoggin has open water 50% or so below dam, and there I'll go tomorrow. But when there's a break in the ice more than 5' on my home lake (Thompson....smallie city) I'll be in my kayak like a shot with spinnerbaits and cranks

Would so much love to join. Don't know how many guys who love fishing (esp bass) would miss learning from other guys. It's huge, no joke. Women who fish are at such a disadvantage because of this one "simple" thing. Most cool guys who want us there )

Tend to go with temp....dart-head jig with curly tail grub good starting point late 50's temp. Kicks w/ inline spinners after, least for me.

Had good luck with 'em. Super-glued a couple back together, but was worth the trouble....extremely realistic action on fall AND with twitch. Varying the weights made this a lure I could use as a jig, CR, topwater.

Hey friend of mine pulled up a fancy St. Croix rod with a nice Abu Garcia baitcast reel last year. Totally great luck, karma, etc. He used it all summer and never had better fishing. I NEVER underestimate luck or confidence

So true, Bill. Confidence to me means I can see that bass, be that bass, like I'm sitting underwater watching. I know for sure I'm twitching/cranking/presenting that lure just right, and there's such joy in that. If the fish pass me by except for one, I still know I was excellent at my art. MoJo!
