Making It Your Own
If I'm awake, I'm probably thinking about how I can modify some kind of bait to be a little different and catch more fish.

What Should I Have Done?
Skipping a senko under those docks should get bit for sure. A heavy flipping stick, braid, and a heavy weight in front of a compact plastic pitched into those reeds should get bit too.

I Was Moved!
Fence Panda, probably my personal favorite goofy term for a big bass.

2014 Fall Strip Pitt Classic

2013 Kills
I had one good day of hunting in 2013. We limited out on ducks in a hour and a half. Would have been less than that if my buddies gun hadn't kept malfunctioning and only allowing him to get off one shot. We got done early enough to go switch out our hunting stuff for fishing gear and catch a bunch of fish that day too!

Flw Birds?
I noticed that as well. I had to back it up a few times to make sure I wasn't seeing anything. At first I thought they started video right when a bunch of purple martins or swallows when buzzing by but after watching it a couple times it appears to just be the editor messing with the video.

Help With Carp
I prefer a compound bow and fiberglass arrow If you're going to fish for them you really don't need anything real complicated. We catch a ton of them on regular slip sinker rigs with corn or nightcrawlers, #8 octopus hook with the corn, #6 with the crawler. If there's no cover I'd go with a light action rod and 6lb test to really enjoy the fight. If there's cover then step up to 8lb. A carp bite often starts slow, couple twitches of the line or almost looks like the waves are washing it slowly, then it's like a bolt of lightning and your rod can be gone in a heartbeat if you aren't ready. Fight them carefully, their soft, rubber lips will allow the hook to tear out easily if you aren't careful. Carp have great senses of smell, touch, and sight and they use all of them to find their food and avoid being caught.

Fish Identification
We catch them with red on them all the time, bright orange as well. They're very pretty fish that come in a multitude of colors like a lot of sunfish species do. That's a great looking greenie in your picture, makes me want to to flathead fishing

Spinning Reel Combo For Beginner
Check out the Pfluegar Trion combos, probably the best you can get in that price range.

Alumiweld For Aluminum Repairs?
Guy I went to school with said he'd do it, just have to provide him the Tig welder If I had a Tig there's a good chance this topic would have never been posted

Are Expensive Polarized Glasses Worth It?
Used, on the auction sites, or when a certain model goes on clearance. I was not a fan of the Oakleys, but I have a XXL size head and I don't enjoy having the circulation cut off by my sunglasses. The finish did not last very well on the frames either. I prefer Costa Del Mar sunglasses. I've had lots of expensive pairs of glasses and only every lost 1 (last month at Grand Lake, brand new pair of Costas). I already have terrible eyes, I can't afford for them to get worse or I'll need a seeing eye dog that can thumb my baitcaster for me.

Driving The Hook Through Plastics
Texpose rig your fluke, you'll hook way more fish that way than you will with the hook point buried in the plastic. Flukes are bad about kinking on the hook and blocking the hook from having a chance to stick the fish.

Winter Fishing Baits For Midwest?
Find a power plant lake and you can fish whatever you want all winter long! If you can't get to a power plant lake, jerkbaits, jigging spoons, jigs, shakyheads, float and fly, traps, and suspending deep cranks all work well for cold bass.

Blood With Lures?
I doubt it would repel them but I also doubt it would make a big enough difference to be worth the hassle, the smell, and the amount of flies you'd have buzzing your boat with a tub of hogs blood in it.

Pop R Vs Rico
The Xcaliber Zell Pop outfishes them all for me. I've had the Yellow Magics, Ricos, G splash, Pop Max, none of them catch fish for me like the Zell Pop. It's a very finesse popper it seems to me like and walks very well if you have the right rod and touch to do it, just drives them crazy.

Very Proud
That's awesome! I can't wait until my little slobber monster can go with me, I've still got awhile though

Mean Mouth Bass
There was a lot of debate awhile back over whether that fish was a meanmouth like it appears to be, or a smallmouth like FC was calling it. Looks like a meanmouth to me, but without genetic testing we'll never know. If it was a meanmouth it would have blown the world record out of the water. It's a beast no matter what it was though.

Bit Of A Problem Here...
Happened to me checking my trail cameras a couple years ago. Went to dinner with my wife and kept feeling like something was crawling on my leg and knee but couldn't see a thing. When we got back to my truck and I got out a flashlight it looked like I had hundreds of freckles that were moving around. We couldn't get home fast enough for me to get in the shower. I found another 13 crawling around in my truck after I'd scrubbed the first layer of my skin off. They were what we call seed ticks, about the size of a pin head. I learned my lesson now, no matter how hot out it is I'm wearing long sleeves and pants with duct tape to seal off the wrist, ankles, and waist. I don't care how stupid I look, not wanting to go through that again.

Drag Setting For Buzzbait?
I'd guess it had more to do with your rod/reel/line selection than your drag setting. Then again you can do everything right and you're still going to lose fish no matter what you do.

Whats Your Tow Vehicle?
08 Tundra, probably a little overpowered for the 15' johnboat I'm pulling with it right now but hopefully I'll have something to make it work a little more in the next couple years.

Night Fishing And Bigger Bass?
Big bass are easier to catch at night during the heat of the summer for sure. Less pressure, no bright light shining in their eyes, cooler temps, and prey species that mainly rely on sight to avoid the bass are at a big disadvantage.

Alumiweld For Aluminum Repairs?
I've got a couple small cracks/tears in the transom of my johnboat (shouldn't have been hauling it with the outboard on it I guess). I was looking for someone local who did Tig welding when I came across this alumiweld. It seems to have very good reviews and looks to be very easy to use and pretty inexpensive. Anyone ever used it before? It's just a 15' semi V johnboat with a 15hp motor so it doesn't have to withstand the torque of a big motor or anything, just needing to fix it so it doesn't get any worse. http://www.alumiweld.com/index.html Open to any other suggestions of how to repair it without spending a ton of money having someone weld it for me.

Kansas Strip Pits
Any restrictions on which ones you can fish or is it just a free for all on which pits you fish?
