  2. I fish craw colored cranks all year round but they are best during spring and anytime I'm on a body of water that doesn't have a big shad population.
  3. Well since you already figured that out then I'd suggest you check this link out. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/41660-for-us-kc-area-guys-fishing-reports/ Lots and lots of information from around our area from a good group of guys that will give you any information they can give you. Welcome to the forum
  4. Feels amazing to me. It's very light, looks nice, and feels very solid and smooth. It's smaller than my E7s and feels as light as my 50E. I'm not going to say it's the best Curado that Shimano has made or anything since it doesn't even have line on it yet, but it certainly has the feel like it could be provided it performs as I expect it to and last like it should.
  5. I've caught the same fish on the same bait on the same day before. I'd go back tomorrow.
  6. What was the area you were on like? Was it fairly shallow and water fairly clear? Sometimes calm, sunny conditions will cause the fish to pull off the bank but in my experience that usually isn't the case early in the year when the water is warming. I'm guessing they may have even gone shallower if the sun was starting to warm the shallows up.
  7. It never fails to amaze me, just when I think I've seen it all, some goofball proves me wrong. Ever seen someone try to commit suicide by drowning themselves in a public toilet? I have This is an old video, and even though it's not real it's not far off from the truth either. (warning-some strong language) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04wTbmTCbLk
  8. I've only ever striper fished once but really enjoyed it, but if I wanted to talk about stripers specifically, then I'd go to a striper fishing forum, of which there are many We went to Beaver Lake in Arkansas in search of catching our first stripers ever, which is a tall task with no experience with the fish or the lake. It took us about 30 minutes for Jon to catch the first one of the trip. Several more small ones the next couple days before I got my largest of the trip and the fish that is still my PB striper. All were caught casting A-rigs or Keitech swing impacts and all were released to give someone else the thrill they gave us.
  9. If you're going to make it and need a partner let me know. Sizzle could fish out of his 2 man, but with a 400 acre lake it would be better if he didn't.
  10. Sometimes those are the best reports to find, prevents others from having to go through the same. FWIW I got a report from a guy that was out testing his new boat last week. He said he fished for 30 minutes and caught 4 on a small green pumpkin jig and a 3" tube. Nothing big, but a fish is a fish after a winter like we've had.
  11. Just picked up a Curado IHG yesterday, thing feels like it's built like a tank. The ice should be off our lakes this week so hopefully I'll get to toss it. I haven't cast with it yet but I have a Curado E5 on my squarebill rod and it will cast a KVD 1.0 a mile and I don't see it being any different with the I series.
  12. Circle hooks are a very neat hook concept. No hookset required. Instead, the force of the rod being lifted steadily or the fish swimming away, will cause the hook to pull towards the corner of the fishes mouth where the shape of the hook basically rotates and sets into the corner of the fishes mouth. A normal hookest will do nothing but pull the hook out of the fishes mouth a vast majority of the time. I use circle hooks exclusively when setting lines for catfish and have great hookup ratio. My experiences of using them for bass have been less than stellar though.
  13. I wish I felt like I could get by with just 2 or 3 Plano boxes full of cranks... You know you have it bad when during the annual winter hook changing ritual you find crankbaits in your box you didn't even know you owned...
  14. I just picked up a Curado IHG today
  15. Had a 6 1/2 die on me once. I was crappie fishing with a small crankbait and she inhaled it all the way to her gills. That combined with a long fight on light tackle and water temps in the low 80's was more than she could deal with. I tried and tried to revive her but to no avail. Ran home and wrapped her in a wet towel and put her in the freezer. A couple days later she was dropped off at the taxidermist and now resides on my wall, a constant reminder of her valiant effort to escape, that ended up being her undoing.
  16. It's a suspending jerkbait for me every spring.
  17. If I wasn't willing to fish in 20+ mph winds, I'd never get to go. It's just a fact of life in the Midwest.
  18. 65 degrees here today after single digit highs last week. Our ice will be gone by the end of this week
  19. Either docks with support poles that go to the bottom, or rocks. Rocks are one of those types of cover that ALWAYS hold fish.
  20. It gives off a much stronger vibration that way also. I've tried to fish them without bending them but the vibration isn't half of what a bent blade puts out. You can adjust the angle of the bend to adjust the depth you want it to run a little bit though.
  21. If you really want to get it registered you can do it at the KC office on 83rd street and K7 in Lenexa. I did that with my John boat and it took me about 10 minutes. I got mine last winter but I don't know if they mail them out by last name or not like other taxes.
  22. It should be a really good time, especially if you like catching big, hard fighting fish on light tackle
  23. Every single one was returned immediately after their photo shoots, even the gar The baby paddlefish was well short of the legal length limit and way out of season as well.
  24. Mine goes with me anytime she has the chance, which isn't as often as I'd like. She learns a little more every year and has come a long way since we started dating in 2008. Our first fishing trip together was to Table Rock in the spring of '09 and she was using a Zebco 33 Classic combo with line so old it broke every time I tried to tie a knot. Now she has a St. Croix Avid Pearl with a Quantum PT Energy. She broke both her smallmouth and largemouth PB's last year, about 2 weeks apart. As for the "Old Lady" thing, mine is 3 years older than me, so I have been known to point that out from time to time, but only very jokingly when she's in a good mood.
