  1. First time I caught a fish on a Little George I was shocked, I never believed a fish would eat one. I know better than to think that about them now
  2. Would you be able to see a Hi Vis braided line? If so a bright yellow or green braided line with a fluoro leader could be a possibility. The part about the migraine aura about made me sick just thinking about it. I get aura migraines and the flashing lights in my left eye is the first signal that I'm getting one, it's all downhill from there.
  3. Can't catch big fish if you're fishing where there aren't any. Jig or a swimbait will weed out a lot of those small fish and appeal to the bigger fish if they're there.
  4. I make my own and catch far more on them than I ever have on store bought bladed jigs. I build them on a 3/8oz football jig or 5/16oz ballhead jig with a 4/0 black nickel Mustad ultra point. Plus I can customize my skirt color. I've caught a ton of good fish on them the last couple years. Caught my two biggest bass of the year on them in fact, one on black and blue and one on zebra shad.
  5. 14lb Red Label and a 7/16oz home made jig in black/gold glitter fooled this guy this morning, 25 1/4 pounds.
  6. I know it's a little late now but I went out today to one of our lakes that flooded and got really muddy after flash flood water poured into it out of the creeks and made the water come up 2' overnight and made it extremely muddy. I fished a black jig and a blackberry colored chatterbait around the flooded vegetation and cover and did really well on bass and a couple flatheads, including a 4+ pound bass and a 25 1/4 pound flathead. They were all tight to the bank and to the cover. I had to move the boat and bait very slowly but when they tracked it down they were killing my bait.
  7. When it rains man. I've had those days when just about everything go wrong but at least you survived to go another day.
  8. It happens but not very often, usually during the winter at La Cygne. I've fished for hours to catch one or two fish out there. During the warmer months it rarely happens but I don't usually go places that are tough to fish either.
  9. I love flipping plastics into the water willow along the shoreline, that's about all the weeds I ever get to fish though. Went to Olathe with my buddy Jared this morning. Water was still really muddy and I didn't have high hopes at first. It started slow until I switched to a dark jig then I started catching a couple bass. I had a hard hit on the jig and when I set the hook my line broke. A little irritated but I tied a new jig on and a couple cast later it happened again. This time my line held and it obviously wasn't a bass when it started fighting. A few minutes later I got a hold of this 25 1/4 pound flathead. Not sure how many bass I caught but it was plenty to feel like I had them figured out good. A black with gold flake home made finesse jig and a home made blueberry colored chatterbait caught all of my bass and catfish. My biggest bass came off the dam and was the only fish I caught off the dam. I didn't think she was a bass at first, could have sworn I felt her roll. Not sure on a length but she was 4.16 pounds and she hit the finesse jig.
  10. Don't know, I released it right after the picture like I do 99.9% of the fish I catch each year
  11. I caught this little guy while my dad and I were fishing for walleye this week. I was casting a Gulp minnow on a jighead along a dropoff from a flat. I wasn't sure what he was when I first saw him. I've caught one true albino cat before but it was a channel and it was completely white instead of white and black splotched.
  12. That's a male longear sunfish in full spawning garb. They're pretty little fish and can be very protective when they're guarding their nest, which is probably why he attacked such a large bait!
  13. Jon and I fished Lake Wabaunsee today. Didn't get a very good jig bite all day and actually caught a majority of our bass on a Ned rig around the docks. We caught fish on a little bit of everything we fished except a swimbait or spinnerbait. We were seriously considering going somewhere else when this 17" smallmouth ate my Ned rig next to a dock when I tried to reel it in. A couple docks later I caught this tank, 19" and 3.83 pounds, also on a Ned. Jon got a solid largemouth on a squarebill a little while later. And then another nice largemouth in the back of a cove off a dock on the Ned. Not long before we left I caught 3 in a row that were very solid fish near keeper or keeper size with this one being the largest, all on a Ned rig. We saw lots of bass fry on the docks and it seemed like anytime you would see fry on a dock you could catch a good fish nearby where they were at. It was a little slow starting out but when we quit we had still caught an even 80 bass, plus lots of crappie, sunfish, a couple drum, and a saugeye.
  14. Dad and I spent Monday through Wednesday on Milford. It was pretty tough for Milford but we still caught lots of fish, just not many of what we were after. We caught more catfish than anything, lots of blues and channels. Dads first blue he's ever caught was 7 pounds on an ultralight, it was a pretty good fight. We did manage to get our only 3 keeper walleye of the trip the first day though. I caught this really cool looking blue cat on a Gulp minnow the next day, wasn't sure what it was when I first saw it. Also caught a keeper spotted bass, probably my only keeper spot I've ever caught in Kansas. Smallmouth were few and far between with almost no size to any of them, same thing for the walleye. We caught quite a few wipers but none very big. Did catch a couple big Goldeyes but didn't take any pictures of those goofy looking things.
  15. I'll be at Olathe with a buddy in the morning but we'll be off the water about that time.
  16. Nope, no trailer or trailer hook.
  17. Shakyhead is my favorite way to fish the 4" bait. It's pretty heavy so it's easier to keep in contact with in deep water and seems to catch a little bigger fish because of the extra bulk. I fish them on a spinning rod with 10lb fluoro.
  18. That's how I got my first LTB when I worked at Cabela's. Cost right around $100 for a brand new LTB with my name on it, can't beat that.
  19. My wife wears my fishing shirts pretty often. Now she has several of her own to wear including one I bought her at the Classic this February that she wears quite a bit.
  20. Very nice! You caught more smallmouth in one day out there than I've caught all year at Wyco. I'm not sure why I haven't been catching any, I'd sure like to bring one of those keeper smallies to the weigh in one of these nights
  21. The 6' 8" M/XF "Wacky Style" was the best all around spinning rod I've ever used. I switched to the 6' 10" M/XF because it has more backbone and I was mainly using it for shakyheads.
  22. I've done well with them a couple times and sometimes can't buy a strike, like pretty much every other crank in my box. They do have a unique action and when the fish hit them they really seem to unload on them.
  23. The fewer baits the less effective they are it seems. I've thrown the YUM double up rig and just have not had much luck. I've done alright with an A rig with 3 baits but really well with all 5 baits. I don't know why this is, maybe the more baits just makes it harder for fish to notice all the hardware the rig is sporting but it's been true for me since I've starting fishing them.
  24. Put a spinner (like a #4 willowleaf) on the one arm and that one should ride to the top because of the lift of the spinner blade and should, in theory, keep the fish from hitting your arm without a hook. Be careful about just cutting or bending the hooks on one though, I've heard of guys in Missouri getting tickets for having baits with bent hooks (3 baits allowed in MO). I guess the argument is that they're still technically baits and by some crazy odds you could land a fish on one. Since then whenever I'm throwing one in Missouri I use 3 regular baits and 2 spinners and have never had a problem when I get checked or with catching fish.
  25. I use it with 1/8, 3/16, or 1/4 ounce homemade jigheads and Zoom swimming flukes. I fish it on a 7' 10" H/XF BPS Extreme with a 300E Curado and 25lb PLine C21. I caught a 20lb striper on this set up so it should handle any bass you'd ever hook.
