  1. Watermelon/red magic, Watermelon/purple flake, blackberry, blueberry, Castaics magic, black sapphire.
  2. They are extremely sharp and stick fish very easily, but they cost way too much for me to afford them for fun fishing, even after they dropped the price $3 a pack.
  3. I have a "X" taped on the bottom of my boat so they know where to stand with instructions on the C.P.R. process in English and Spanish, just in case I ever make it back south of the boarder.
  4. I have fished with her newer pink rod and it's a really nice rod. It's a 6' 6" ML/F St. Croix Avid Pearl that costs more than several of my rods though so it better feel nice.
  5. Our newest addition to the pack, a little Golden Retriever we named Cassidee. Hopefully she'll be a duck dog by next winter but she'll certainly be my fishing buddy even if she doesn't work out as a duck dog. Her first fishing experience at 3 months, didn't seem to mind it too much. My wife with her a 4 months. Now at 6 months last week, still hasn't figured out what to think of these cold, slimy things that I keep pulling out of the water. She does love the water already though, seems the more mud and stick tights and cockleburrs she has to run through to get to the water, the better.
  6. I'm a behavior modification specialist/adult babysitter (deputy sheriff in one of the biggest jails in the state). Been doing it for almost 7 years now. Some days I think about how nice it would be to work a "normal" job where I'm awake during the day and asleep at night and home on weekends but I'm not sure I could do anything else. I'm not sure my attitude and sense of humor I've developed in this line of work would be appreciated most other places either
  7. I had 2 small ones find their way into my back storage with my batteries and I didn't see them when I was trying to get all the carp out of my boat. A week after sitting in 100 degree weather I had no problem finding them next time I went out to hook up the boat That smell didn't go away for a few weeks and was even worse when I tried to pick them up with a pair of pliers and they fell apart.
  8. Oh boy, and here I am without any extra spending money
  9. I use the 7.1 reels for jigs and plastics. I have no problem slowing down and it's much easier to catch up with a fish that charges the boat and I can reel in faster to get my bait back in the water and start my next retrieve faster. As far as not having any power, I landed a 40+lb flathead catfish on my MH/F pitching rod and a E7 Curado this spring, they pull just a tad bit harder and longer than any bass could ever dream about and I didn't have any problem landing it.
  10. Cut the hook back to around the start of the bend of the hook, put either a treble or spinnerbait trailer hook on whats left of the hook and use pliers to bend the old hook closed around the new hook eye. You can even use a EWG worm hook and put a grub or swimming tail worm on the back of it also.
  11. I like to put a couple suspend dots on the belly of a #5 shad rap and fish it on a ML spinning rod with 8lb test with a stop and go retrieve. They work well with a straight retrieve also though.
  12. I'll talk to the guys that I'm going with and see if I can talk them into going. We were planning on stopping to eat somewhere in Tulsa after weigh in anyways so hopefully we'll make it.
  13. My wife fishes a wacky rig and swimming grub a lot along with small chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, and cranks. The little 1/8oz micro chatterbaits, Booyah pond magic spinnerbait, and KVD 1.0 or LC 0.5 are the ones she fishes the most.
  14. I've caught a ton of fish on the 8" blackberry Jelly Worm on a T-rig with a 1/4oz weight. Just like a finesse worm, they don't do much, but neither does a real worm or lots of other things a bass would like to eat. They're my dads favorite worm and he actually just casts them out and reels them back in very slowly and catches lots of fish. They're a good combination of soft yet durable so they move very easily but they don't tear on the first fish either.
  15. Still an almost 3 pound white is a big arse white bass! I've fished that river pond once but I would be interested in trying it again if it has monster whites in it.
  16. Well I'm bored at work so I thought I'd check out some of the fishing forecast for some of those other fish I like to fish for. I was checking out the white bass forecast because I know Gardner Lake used to have some really nice ones. Like usual I was going down the list checking which lake had the biggest fish sampled but when I got to the Melvern River pond my eyes about popped out of my head! http://kdwpt.state.ks.us/news/Fishing/Fishing-Forecast/White-Bass/Lakes 5.88 pound white bass?!! That had to be a wiper or a misprint or something or they rolled up a state record sized white bass out of the river pond at Melvern.
  17. My '06 F-150 is at 93K. Poor thing only had 29k miles on it when I bought it 2 1/2 years ago Guy that owned it before me barely put 5k miles a year on it while I'm averaging a little over 25k miles a year. If only I had some good lakes a little closer.
  18. "It depends on what your definition of "is" is". At least he stuck with his lie.
  19. 68 is what ours stays at. If it gets chilly I'll just put on sweat pants and a hoodie.
  20. Great job man! As much as I enjoy fishing I enjoy introducing people to fishing even more. They're the future of our sport and I wholeheartedly feel that kids that are introduced to the outdoors at a young age are more likely to stay out of trouble than those that aren't.
  21. I've heard of guys flyfishing for them. Snagging them is about the only real way of catching them on rod and reel. I enjoy aerial bowfishing for them but I end up getting more of them with my boat than I do an arrow every time.
  22. Less than 2 weeks, getting down to the wire!! Any of you boys want some info on catching trout at Wyco let me know. They're much more aggressive than bass in cold water and they stock some nice ones at the Dotte that are a real fun fight on light tackle.
  23. No reason to risk your health over a few dollars you'll be out buying a cheap microwave. I know I certainly wouldn't cure my jigheads in the same toaster oven my wife and I use to cook food in.
  24. Red squarebills, black and red jigs, and red spinnerbaits can all be very good in spring along with the red traps that most people fish. I fish red baits all year round though, they don't stop working just because the water warms up.
  25. The 65 is listed as a half ounce bait.
