For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Went to Kill Creek before work yesterday from noon to 2:45. Had 18 bass, 2 crappie, and 1 bluegill all on a 78 pointer. Bass were all pretty small like usual. One of my bigger ones might have gone 15 inches. Biggest surprise of the day was the second crappie I caught. The picture doesn't do it justice but it had to be in the 13-15 inch range, I didn't know they made them that big out there! I hope these next few cold days don't ruin what little progress the lakes have made around here. :-/

Veritas vs Vendetta vs Mojo bass
I have several Mojos and really like them. They fit my preference which is something you need to find. That being said none of the Mojos fit what I like in a rod that would be used for jigs and frogs. The one they make for frogs is about as big around at the base as a pool cue. I'd go with one of the Abu's.

How do you kill a turtle?
I used to catch turtles to sell them to people who made turtle soup. If you can set lines get some chicken liver or chunks of bluegill or carp and put them on a good sized treble hook and strong line and just set it out in the area and check back the next day. If you can't put out set lines, try the same approach but with a rod and reel while you're bass fishing. Chances are you'll catch the offender and make sure he's chewed his last swimbait .

Abu Garcia SX vs. Shimano Curado 200e7 and a Rod
I've owned both the Curado's and the Revo's, just sold my SX so I could buy another Curado .

The best uses for these two rods?
I would use the 7' rod for jigs, plastics, C-rigs, and frogs. Use the 6'6" rod for cranks, spinnerbaits, topwater, and jerks. That should be a good starting point and then if you decide you like it you can get into the more specific tackle.

Help me pick a jig rod
Haven't fished the Abu rods but I use a 7' MH St.Croix mojo for jigs. It's actually their spinnerbait rod but I really like the way if feels fishing a jig.

Carrot Stix Question
I bought one when they came out and never registered it. This winter I was yo-yoing a rattletrap for largemouth and wipers and the rod just folded in half on one of my lifts. No fish, no snag, no pressure other than the bait. It was something like 49 dollars for the replacement and 20 for shipping. Still had the reciept but Cabela's wouldn't take it back either. They're in the bargin cave for 79 dollars pretty often, I just bought another St.Croix instead 8-)

One fish so many patterns...
Bluegills look different in different places and lakes also. Plus you get female and male bluegills that look different and juvenile bluegills that also look different. Lots of room to be creative I guess ;D.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
They put some pretty big ones in Wyandotte every spring. I've had a few over 4 pounds out of there. I don't eat them but some of the guys I work with act like they just won the lottery when you bring them some trout fillets.

What are you getting them on at killcreek? I might go out there before work for a couple hours tomorrow if I don't have to work overtime tonight.

Re: Wyandotte County Lake
Oh yea and I'm pretty sure you have to get the boat permit at the boathouse in the marina cove on the lake. It's closed Tuesday and Wednesday and KS cranker is right that it's cash only.

Re: Wyandotte County Lake
Can't find the prices for this year but last year it was 50 dollars for a season boat permit and 30 dollars for a season fishing permit without the trout permit, with the trout permit is another 20 dollars.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Went to Wyandotte County Lake yesterday to see if the bass had started biting out there. First cast I had a nice smallmouth chase my jerkbait to the boat. A few casts later I boated my first Wyco smallmouth of the year. Next casts I caught a small largemouth and then I went back to where the first smallmouth chased my bait and threw a different jerkbait and got him. Caught a few more before my friend meet me at the ramp and quickly caught his first Wyco bass of the year. The bass weren't biting great but the trout were going nuts. It didn't take me long to get my limit. Wind was terrible but at least we got out there and caught a few!

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Went to Miami State Lake with a friend and his son yesterday and fought the wind. Caught a lot of fish but they were lacking the size that lake usually produces. Lots of 8-14 inch fish and some even smaller. I had one on a 78 pointer shorter than the bait by probably an inch. Most of them were on jerkbaits except for a few on spinnerbaits and a couple on cranks. We all caught some fish though so it was a pretty decent day. We tried fishing for crappie also but even with minnows under a bobber we couldn't catch any. I guess when a game warden says there aren't many in the lake you should take their word for it .

Berkley frenzy popper
Two entirely different baits, the Frenzy is one you can wtd, chug, skip... The Frenzy is also a much more subtle sounding bait. I have no problem walking the dog, or chugging a skitter pop. I wouldn't skip it because I'd be afraid to break it. As for being more subtle, wouldn't a bait with no rattles and very light twitches be pretty subtle? :-?

Dick's Sporting Goods LC's.
None of the Dick's around here even carry LC :'(. No cheap lucky crafts for me and the bait monkey I guess .

Hawk and I are off to a good start.
Congrats on the tournament and don't feel bad about the fish. Everyone who has ever fished a tournament has that one fish that if I'd have done this or if I hadn't done this I/we would have won! I know I have my share of moments :.

what to do?? help me?? haha
What color is the water? If it's not too dark that should be great conditions for a suspending jerkbait.

Berkley frenzy popper
Check out the Rapala Skitter Pop. They have a really similar look except they are made of balsa instead of plastic. I've caught tons of fish on my skitter pops and one of the only wooden Rapala baits I have yet to break ;D.

Your Go To Crank
RC 1.5 coppernose bream for my shallow bait SK Silent Series 5 for my deeper bait in any shad color

Chompers Twin Tail Grub
They're great on football heads, texas rigged, C-rigged, standup jighead, shakeyhead, swimming them, almost any way you would want to fish them you can catch fish. They do smell terrible, and if you bait your hook and scratch your nose right afterwards you will not be happy with yourself.

My son thinks I have a problem
That would shut me up. I'd be pointing out new stuff to him all the time! ;D

Muddy water, full moon, 20 degree air temp drop
What's the water temp? If it's below 50 I'd stay home. If it's not 55 I'd still think about staying home or trying somewhere else. Those two baits would be good ones to try in dirty water. I'd also add a dark colored jig that would fall slowly and a single colorado bladed spinnerbait to the mix.

Underwater Bass Video

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Went to Killcreek for a couple hours before work today from 1pm to 3pm. Caught 14 bass and 1 crappie, nothing very big but still fun. Almost all of the bass were caught on pointers with a few on a spinnerbait. Had a few come off and missed a few also. By the dam and in front of the island seemed to be best. All my spinnerbait fish were from the small pond on the other side of the culvert on the south end.
