I only use braid when I'm pitching into really thick cover or in muddy water as stated above,braid doesn't cast that far I fish from the shore so I can use all the casting distance I can get.

yes there are places to fish all over fort myers, it's Florida you can shake a stick at a puddle and catch a fish . Here is a site that will give you some lakes in the area. My link

New PB!Went out got some of them rage tail lobster's and caught a 8 pounder on the first one I tied on!!Had it Texas rigged with a 4/0 EWG and a 1/8 ounce bullet weight pegged to the bait.Wish I had some pic's but no camera yet .

I watched a video on YouTube awhile back and the host said to cut a foam earplug in half and soak it in scent then push it up in the tube.I fish the BPS tournament 4" magnum flippin tube's all the time for largies.I just cast it out let it sit for awhile then just jig it back to me.Read the stuff Glenn posted it will help you alot!

Yeah that's what it looks like to me also. I think they are called freshwater drum, was it making any noise like a grunting or thumping sound?

I'd go mono also, I have a 9 year old niece that wanted to go fishing with me I got her a pink lady Shakespeare rod and reel with some 8 pound mono and she catches alot of bluegill, bass, she even hooked a snook the other day.

I looked up some fishing reports and saw some smallmouth bass have been caught in the lake as well as landlocked and Atlantic salmon and rainbow trout.So looks like you'll be catchin some fish might want to see if you can get together with a guide that knows the lake and can put you on some fish.But if your just goin to relax and do some shore fishin that's always nice to.Have fun!
