  1. Also, I am just an enlisted guy, so the Steez is WAY outta my price range. Hell if it wasn't for my family back home in FL throwin in all together I wouldn't have gotten the Zillion. I am SO excited about this reel! I may have the go ahead to get the Zillion Rod too when I get back in Jan...Christmas present from the wife. ;D Thanks for any help u guys can offer tho on where to find parts!
  2. The steez woulda beena no go anyway cuz this baby's gonna see some salt from time to time too. Every time I go back home to FL on leave I terrorize the reds and trout and I use my bass gear for this too.
  3. How customizable is the american TD Zillion? I got one for my birthday and when I get back from Iraq I am thinkin bout makin this one my first little project reel. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  4. Some folks sure can get riled up over some trivial B.S. huh??? Seems the original question got lost somewhere amidst all the arguing too, huh? Hell if I was swimming in money I'd buy one just cuz I could...seems to be a pretty bad *** rod. Just a broke *** soldier in Iraq here though, happy as all hell to be coming home to a brand new TD Zillion that 4 family members had to throw in on to get me for my birthday. Seriously guys...Why argue about something so dumb???
  5. Well I have made my mind up, I am getting the TD Zillion for my birthday. I can't wait until I get to come home for leave in Aug. and use it now! 7.1:1 with some toads...Can't wait!!!
  6. http://www.franksgreatoutdoors.com/products/116855_Procaster_100H.htm I have 2 of these and they are some serious WORKHORSES!! You can find these for pretty cheap now too, from 30-50 bucks depending on where u find it. Just my .02 but these reels are amazing for the price. I also use them for redfish when I go to Florida a couple times each year and they handle them just fine too!
  7. Thanks for the link! I bet fishin a buzzbait or toad with that sucker will be sweeeeeeeeeeet!
  8. Point taken! Thanks for the input. I was leanin more towards the zillion anyway. My brother in law has one and loves it. Can't wait till I get home next year and get to use it finally!!! 6 more months, then anything that'll eat a lure is in biiiiiig trouble on Kentucky Lake and all of my Ft. Campbell ponds! I'm coming home on leave in August and they'll get a lil taste of the blod red gammy with a horny toad...I so can't wait for those 18 days!
  9. Ok, so I am gonna update this...Team Daiwa Zillion or Curado for the 7:1 higher end reel? Or 2 Citicas??? Which should I get in ya'lls opinion???
  10. I am stuck in Iraq, but my birthday is coming up and I am stockin up on new stuff to harass the ol' green trout with when I get home next year...SO: Should I get 2 Shimano Citicas or 1 Team Daiwa Zillion??? I have been wanting a 7:1 reel for a while now and I hear the Zillion is a good one for a burner. Do any of the Citicas come in that ratio??? What are you guys' thoughts on my "problem"?? ;D
  11. Wading with 10ft + gators in Florida when I was in my late teens. I did however keep a sidearm just in case. I never had any problems out of any of them. It was almost like they knew I was looking at THEM like THEY were food (which I was). I would have hated to have had to bust one of them outta "self defense". ;D
  12. Being from Florida originally I still love a big ol' bucketmouth, but...Moving to Ft. Campbell, KY and having caught a few really nice smallies on KY Lake (4-6lb range) I gotta go with the ol' bronzeback for the fight. I feel like I am cheating on my wife saying that, lol! Anyway, I guess I am kinda addicted to the smallies and I try to target them when I can on KY Lake.
  13. I was just wondering if anyone had ever heard of it. It looked pretty silly to me too, honestly...for that kinda price anyway. Still a good idea though. I have used the pyramid sinker with a small rapala floater before when I couldn't get a fish P.O.ed enough with plastic. Anyway, I just thought the whole "hiding" thing was kinda neat, but the lure should be a little more realistic IMO...true about the senko too though on that note!
  14. Have any of ya'll ever heard of this thing? http://www.***.com/descpageEXTUBO-ETR.html# Another crazy Japanese invention. Idunno if it'd work, sounds pretty neat though. Sounds like it would pi$$ of a bedding bass pretty good.
  15. 5!?? That bass looks closer to 9lbs to me!!!
  16. Great to see one of us is back on the water Al!! Well when you guys are redeployin I should be hittin my leave (August) so I'll be postin' some pics too. August is prime time froggin at Ft.Campbell! Love the from this to this pics too! Enjoy it man, I know I can't wait to get back for mine, just sucks we're here til January.
  17. Thanks for all the info guys! Ebay's lookin awful nice! Off topic, but, I just got some o' them nasty glass vial stink bombs off there to play some pranks on some buddies. Good deals on some good gear there too! Thanks again!

  19. I mentioned in my last post that I have been lookin for new gear for when I finally get back from my 3rd tour over here. My rods and reels are in serious need of some upgrading. I am looking for somewhere where I can find shimano or daiwa reels, and loomis, st.croix, airrus rods with a miltary discount or better than average pricing. I'm serious about my bassin but on a junior enlisted man's budget it can be tough to get the gear I need to stay on top of my game, especially since I plan on startin some tourney bassin when I get home. Thanks for the info in advance guys, and Bud if ya read this I can't wait to get back on Kentucky lake with ya when I get back!
  20. I have a couple of questions. I am in Iraq on my 3rd tour but have been looking over the net for some new gear for when I get home, and I need new glasses. First, how do Oakley's polarized glasses compare to some of the other popular brands for fishing glasses, and two, what color lenses would you recommend for sight fishing in a lake? I prefer bronze for an all around polarized lense color but I am wondering if there's a better choice. Thanks in advance!
  21. I'm back from my 2 weeks leave and missin home again already. My new baby is beautiful and healthy, but I do have one bad thing to report about my leave. My wife had the good sense to store all of my gear at my friend's house (he's in my unit and here with me). His wife had gone to Ohio so all of my stuff was locked in their garage and I didn't get to hit the lake even once!!! I think she did it on purpose but she says otherwise. Oh well, guess I'll have to wait another year. At least I got 2weeks away from this place with the family. I'll make another slide show to post on here with both of my daughters when I finally get back (and get my gear outta that garage).
  22. Ok guys...nevermind i guess...I can't get the link to work
  23. http://www.slide.com/r/XpKa5-Ni0T8ZmVHheF6aDn5thG2vmHGZ?previous_view=lt_embedded_url I don't think the original link worked...
  24. I didn't know where to post this so I figured I'd put it in here. Anyhow I am accross the pond once again and without my family or lil' green swimmin' friends...I am, however, coming home for a couple weeks cuz I have a new lil girl due today and I am in route now. Anyhow I wanted ya'll to check out this slide show my wife made for me while I am over here of me n' my older daughter (5yrs) fishin...HERE If the link don't work please lemme know, and tell me what ya'll think of the show...It made me feel proud and sad to be gone all at the same time.
